Simple Trick to Turn on Furnace or A/C
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 фев 2024
- If your furnace or air conditioner is not turning on, it's possible that the thermostat is the cause of the problem. A simple an easy way to rule out the thermostat is to simply jumper or bypass it using a wire nut or a piece of wire. In this video I demonstrate how to manually turn on or jump heating and A/C to get them to turn on without a thermostat. This is a great way to check and tell if the thermostat is bad or not.

🧩 Here is a hint for the puzzle at the end of the video:
💡 Something is off about that bottom row... Also, I seem to recall that multiplication needs to be done before addition.
❌ If your guess is one of these common answers, your answer is incorrect:
0, 10 ,33 ,35 ,37 ,41 ,93 ,98 ,193 ,196 ,250 ,256 ,258 ,270 ,274 ,310 ,330 ,670 ,758
⬇ If you think you have the right answer or want to give up, the solution is in the bottom of the description.

perfect timing! My thermostat just went bad after a power outage. Was able to turn on the furnace connecting R and W.
Wonderful! Glad to hear you were able to get heat. Stay warm!
I got 198. This man’s videos are top tier RUclips. I wish more channels were like this. It’s great informative content and it’s entertaining, without all the extra fluff.
That extra burger makes it 198 instead of 196 lol
198 is correct! Glad to hear you enjoy the channel and thank you for watching until the end! 😄
Awesome way to bypass to test a thermostat thank you.
You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by. Have a fantastic new week!
Thanks for the tutorial and the math puzzle. I was totally convinced that I had the answer and ready to type it with glee, and then the smarter people showed up in your comments and humbled me quite adequately😂.
You're welcome! Haha I love how you explain your puzzle experience, I experienced the same emotions only to find out I was way off. 😂 For what it's worth, the majority of people get it wrong and half of those who get it right don't admit that they peeked in the comments. 😅
That was easy even at 50 years old I know it is 198! I still remeber my order of operations from middle school Algebra 1. Cheer's! Did it in my head!
Yes!! That is correct and even more impressive that you did it in your head! Thanks for playing, have a blessed new week!
Show your work
Let C=cup, T=treat (ignore the plate), G=guy. 3C=30, so C=10. 9T=18, so T=2. 3(G+C+3T)=75, so G=9. Thus 4T+(G+C)*C is 4*2 + ((9+10)*10), or 8 + 190 = 198. Remember PEMDAS! Multiplication before addition.
Wow, I enjoy this. You’re doing a good job explaining this.
I'm glad to hear that, thank you!
Thx for doing this, filming it and sharing it with us. 👍👍👍👍👍

Hi Jay, You maybe should mention that these instructions apply to most common systems but NOT to Communicating thermostat systems as the wiring is different. Only 4 wires total .... 2 data wires and 2 transformer wires (Goodman/Amana)
Yes! That's a good point. I made this without much planning since I was actually setting up for a different video. I should have mentioned heat pump wiring too.
Thanks Jay
You bet! Thanks for watching, have a blessed new week sir!
Thanks
Welcome. Thanks for stopping by!
What is the advantage of jumpering at the thermostat and not the furnance if both are fairly accessible? Thx.
You could do either or, whichever is more convenient. If you are doing this specifically to see if the thermostat is bad or not, then it's better to do the jumpering at the thermostat though.
The wires are stripped wrong. Copper exposed
Yes. They are way "too stripped". I actually had that set up to film a different video but ended up doing this one quick first.
Thank you. Question? I have a 20 yr old Honeywell, and its CPH is 4. My neighbors have the same furnace but with new thermostats that CPH is 2-3. I only have a warm air furnace setting, electric heating and a hot water boiler setting. Small dip switches. How do I lower my thermostats CPH settings? Thank you.
Hmm.. To be honest I am not too familar with setting or adjusting CPH. If your thermostat is adjustable, I would probably try finding this info online in a honeywell manual for your particular model. But I am not familiar enough with this to give an answer from experience, my apologies.
Kudos for being frank, and not trying to bluff your way through an unfamiliar query, just to make you look like a "Mr. Knowitall". That kind of response is becoming rare lately. And that is also one reason that your videos are a hit.
As a semi-professional tweaker, I especially enjoy watching your improvised techniques as you fundamentally assemble, disassemble, and occasionally destroy your demonstrated subject matter.
Great Product.
Thank You
@@lawrencebruce6492 Thank you! I appreciate the observation. Also, happy to hear that you're enjoying the videos! Hopefully the future videos will live up to the expectations. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend good sir!

198. Have to count each item on plate. Plate on bottom has 4 of them. Also guy on bottom isn't holding a plate at all. Plate has no value.
Yes!!! Thank you for the explanation too, for those that need help understanding it.

Hey Eddy!!! Good to see you too my friend! I feel like I haven't seen you in a long time! I need to start making more videos. Thank you for stopping by and sticking around until the end! 274 is a good guess but is incorrect. That bottom row is tricky... 😅
I keep blowing out my 3amp fuse. Replaced the tstat and rewired thinking that was the culprit. When everything was plugged in, turned on to call for AC it blows out the fuse. Could there be Short somewhere else?
There's got to be a short somewhere, yes. This video might give some ideas of where to look: ruclips.net/video/4e4wsruGS0s/видео.htmlsi=tGCizsN6D153MNgC
Could the answer be 270? Ok. I see the correct answer is 198. I didn't follow the correct order thing and . . . I also had a brain fart and subtracted the food twice. 😮 😆😆😆😆😆 Thx. that was fun.
Yeah, this puzzle gets almost everyone (myself included). Glad you tried it and enjoyed it! Have a wonderful new week!
256
Good first guess! But incorrect.
It’s 198 if the plate is not represented by a number. Otherwise there is not enough data presented to solve the equation.
You got it right!!! With the data provided, 198 is indeed the accurate answer you should arrive to. Thanks for playing! Have an amazing new week!
The boy is 9
The cup is 10
The bread is 1.5
The plate that hold the bread is 1.5
[(4x1.5)+1.5] + (9+10) x 10 = 197.5
@@pl-mn2ro you cannot assume the bread and the plate are equal. The plate could be 3 and the bread 1. There is no way to discern that information from the graphic. So it has to be concluded that the artist would count the plate as you would count fingers holding the cup. Just a vessel for delivery and valued at 0.
That’s right; however you cannot not take in count the plate since it is represented on the bottom line. There’re multiple good answers to this puzzle just by using whole numbers
👍👍👍
Harry you are a legend!!! Good to see you sir!

Thank you sir! God bless you and yours!
197, Guy=9, Cup=10, Plate=3 and Bread=1, (3+4)+(10+9)*10=7+19*10=197
197 is mighty close but incorrect.
Answer is 330..............4 pieces of bread on the plate and one piece of bread equals 2 so 8+25x10=330 (wrong) the guy is not holding plate so now it's 8+19x10=270 or 198 in reverse operation. If wrong, then i don't know, lol
198 is the correct answer! 4(2) + (25-6) x 10 = 198. Thank you for playing!! Have a blessed new week followed by an even more amazing month!
We have the same thermostat & have switched it out a total of 5x in less than a year bc it’ll start blowing through batteries within one day.
Anyone know why this is?
I haven't seen that before so can't say from experience. Would be interested to know why its doing that too. Do you have a common wire hooked up? Or anything in series with the thermostat? I've seen power stealing thermostats but never encountered a thermostat that is getting power robbed instead. 😅
Hey this is just a thought I had.
When you replace the thermostat did you replace the back plate too?
The issue you are having does suggest there is a short or ground issue with the LV wiring.

@texomatinker414 Yes! it is as fastbusiness said. I can add just a tad bit if it helps. This would be the final equation, with all sneaky aspects considered: 4(2) + (25-6) x 10 =
