+MrS98VAC Most modern day artists can't give an interview this in-depth and intelligent because they are created by a producer. Madonna is a self made girl. She is control of every step of the way, so she has a great deal to say about what she does because she came up with it herself.

As a gay boy in the early 90s, Erotica got me the chills, also Madonna in a general way. I used to see that female sexuali traits as a push towards me to be straight. Until i figured all she was talking about was to set me free! Cant wait for Celebration Tour Seattle :)
I genuinely love watching Madonna interviews. Everything she says in answer to a question is well thought out (you can even see it on her face at the time in early interviews), she says things that can address the public to appease all, she never _really_ skates around the subject...she DOES answer; and if it is a difficult question, then she will always answer in a defined and answerable way. I also like her command of vocabulary- she will always go a long way with that in her basket of skills. 10/10 for Madonna. Shocking and wrong, but extremely successful and very successfully career minded.

The gorgeous, eccentric and beautiful shape of her face in this era.. I just love her look. I just rewatched, "Body Of Evidence" and Mads looked so naturally,sweet and pretty in that film. I don't understand why it was not well received in the USA? It was, if I remember correctly, well received here in France. Well, I loved it! ✝

She is still a very private person, I love her interviews, I learn a lot. We know much aboit the persona "Madonna" but never about herself at all.
I nearly said something in her favour (regarding paparazzi and inviting it), but then i deleted it coz i actually do think that Madonna would have used technology to her advantage 100%. I think she would have tweeted, facebooked, instagrammed and all the others. I really do. And i LOVE Madonna, but i do think we all need to remember that no matter how intelligent she is, she takes the same route as all the sad sap fame seekers of today. Shame, that.

She liberated me as a gay person when I was younger. I learned to love myself. Her message was epic and still is.
Her interviews have always been really interesting because she is intelligent, well-spoken and really thinks about what she is saying and how she is answering questions.
Madonna was always ahead of time. As she said “ the video is a fantasy...” so true, Erotica’s video message is up to the audience interpretation.
Just listening to her speak and watching her Poise and not flinching about what people say or think about her shows you how intelligent and sophisticated she is compared to most of her peers!
I have watched this interview since the day it aired so many times again and again.
You can see how she was beginning to feel the first wave of the EROTICA backlash
and how important it was to her to make her point.
I have gaaaaaged every time I watched this and I still do!

Good point. I thought it, too- it smacked of Piers Morgan. He is also a jounalist that doesn't really 'interview' ; he 'interrogates'.
Would have to disagree, he asked open ended questions about her actions at the time & you can tell by her answers she has to think about the reply

Piers Morgan is a huge ass and misogynist, but this guy was fine. He allowed her the time to explain her messages and artistic vision in contrast to how many people only look at the surface shock value. If anything he was most judgmental of American prudishness than Madonna’s sex positive persona

Madonna was absolutely a smart woman. At 4:12 she explains herself so intelligently. We (Americans mostly)“glamorize” violent movies but look at “sex” like it’s so wrong an taboo.
The where do you go from here question was asked because at that time many thought her career would be over. Too bad he didn't ask her about the actual music in the album. It has lots of jazz. Even the interviewer was hung up on the "scandal" aspect of the erotica video. Well, she really put him on his place as the rest of interviews she went through during this era.

No one in this modern-day era can get away with stuff like Madonna did back in the 80's and 90's most definitely could not push the envelope today like it happened back then
It's funny because this album came out in the early 90s you would think it's a song that should be created now. It's so a head of her time that I've only discovered it now and I'm 36 and she has inspired me to be more sexually expressive come out of my shell a bit lol but I think it's great when artists have this effect on people

1992-1993 was hard for Madonna.
Her popularity was fading and Mariah, Whitney and Janet were soaring.
Mariah and Whitney were all about the voice. Janet not so much, she’s like a seedy version of Michael’s voice. I was not interested in them at all. I was all about Madonna. The Erotica album I didn’t get until the campaign was over and all the singles had been released. Fever was less interesting to me, but overall I loved it all. Some great remixes too.

When this (or a facsimile) interview aired so many years ago, I, a very big fan of M's, failed to recognize her.. I truly did. I was getting ready to go out with a friend and just turned on the tv for no good reason.. I see this woman with the brutally short hair, golden tooth, sparse brows and Twiggy makeup and I did not know it was Madonna. How could that happen? I still don't know. I caught on pretty quickly but I must admit to a few moments of not realizing it was actually her. I thought she looked really bad.. :( .. but in retrospect I think she was and always is beautiful, even with this extreme look. Oh well, foddering along, I'll close this.. Yeah Madonna, never stop.

I've yet to see one look of hers that I found unattractive years later.. sometimes they seemed so at the time but they always ingrained themselves in me eventually. :) I'd love to see some of the looks that didn't work out, you know? Julie Swahn I think her skin tone and facial structure helps with her suiting loads of different looks. Also, her figure has never declined over the years which just goes to show her commitment, as it must be so easy when one is rich, to just hide away somewhere and count your money all day long, lol. I hate it when people comment on her age, like she is supposed to give up and go away, but I don't want her to go away - I want to enjoy more of her!! Even if she was 90.

This is the 2nd erotica era interview I've heard of 1992 being a really conservative time. Was 90 - 92 really that conservative?
Erotica was released at the tail end of the Reagan/Bush era, so the United States was just about to come off 12 years of conservative leadership.
@@guillermovilla9517 the 80s were ultra conservative… Reagan, Thatcher, Mulroney in Canada… that Wall Street greed era is how we’ve ended up with such huge wealth inequality now… trickle down economics basically was a lie and the poor and middle classes just got peed on. It was also an era of extreme Evangelical Christianity which yes, was extremely judgmental and conservative. AIDS ravaged communities that these people felt were ‘degenerates’ and only cheered that they were dying. Reagan didn’t even mention AIDS until children were being born with it from their mothers being HIV positive. Imagine an epidemic like COVID but it initially mainly attacks hated populations, so governments, pharmaceutical companies, and the general public do absolutely nothing. There’s STILL no cure for AIDS, only expensive medications that help people live and people must constantly take… making those drug companies rich. There’s still very little social/political pressure to find a cure and it’s been about 40 years now. Look how fast we’ve gotten vaccines for COVID or even the world response to SARS… night and day when a disease attacks anyone rich or poor. Madonna was one of a select few who had the social power who pressured people to do more and be more compassionate and accepting of others, and she was vilified for it. People STILL love to hate Madonna.
