I'm TOO grateful for this, honestly. Thank you again for remembering WHEN!!! 😁💓😊😂👍👍👍

I came across an article online by the LA times from 1994 that provided a recipe for this cake original called the crumble cake. I've see a few pictures and a couple of different recipes calming to be the recipe from the LA schools...just to make sure we are talking about the same thing...we are talking about the coffee cake or crumble cake that the elementary schools in LA use to serve in the red and white plaid bowl right?..with the crispy edges??...

I want the OG!!! YÉS ma'am!!! The Best CAKE I'VE EVER HAD. I grew up on that cake. I live in Tx. now. I went to Gompers, Markham, Jordan, 116th, St. Locke when it first opened. Gotta have it!!! 😃💞❣️
I Loved L.A. in the '60's!!! I'm originally from Tx. I also LOVED Tx. as a child. And that Coffee Cake was one of many pleasant memories, alone with, the Hash Browns at Gompers, & the Cinnamon Rolls and Cheese toast and the Cheese Enchiladas from Markham. I graduated from Markham in '66. I might make those Enchiladas today!!! Yes, Memories are a gift from God. 😃❣️💞
I recently learned that Patrice Rushen was my neighbor and grew up in the Jordan Downs. I grew up in the Nickerson Gardens. I even remember our complex number!!! Patrice was 2 years behind me at Locke & now holds an Honorary Doctrine in Music and teaches there. Interesting!!! 😃💞❣️

Im only 16 but we used to have these for breakfast in my elementry in LA and they were my favorite and i still think about them..thankx for the recipe💯💕
This cake Look so good I want to try it thanks

*Just in case you’re wondering why there’s no coffee IN this cake AND you’re not from the U.S. Usually when a person from the U.S. says “coffee cake” we’re referring to a pastry/cake that goes WITH your coffee/tea. It’s not necessarily an ingredient. With that said, some recipes may have it, It just depends on which recipe you’re using and whether the author of the recipe decided to use it as an ingredient.*

Omg I just made this and it is AMAZING wow!! I was nervous because I didn't have cake flour but it still came out fluffy like yours, I split the batter in two and added chocolate chips to the crumble on one cake. I'm eating a big ol slice right now and with every bite I'm in heaven good thing I'm alone right now because of the sounds I'm making Haha. Everyone try this recipe!!
Thanks😊
Yes, I loved this coffe cake in elementary in the 80s. 66th st school in LA.

I went to LA Unified and I was born in 1954. I remember getting that coffee cake in middle school with hot chocolate at our first break (after 2nd period)... it was called “Nutrition”. It was cool in the morning, so the hot chocolate and coffee cake warmed me up! Thanks for the recipe!
Yes indeed! I loved "Nutrition" too LOL! I could gather myself with an LAUSD specialty and get ready for the next class.
Omgoodness I’ve been looking and wanting this… I’m going to make me some 😂😂
I LOVE this Recipe, I made the 7up Pound Cake last week. It was the bomb. Keep the video coming Royce from Hawaii……………ALOHA

Carolyn I went to 66 street school in LA. I don't remember a lot from those days but the coffe cake is a hit. The house smell so good. Thanks
Thank you for this wonderful video. Beautiful memories of my childhood. Like with other schools in the LAUSD, the coffee cakes at 107th Street School in the 1970s and early 1980s were BOMB delicious😋

I want the OG!!! YÉS ma'am!!! The Best CAKE I'VE EVER HAD. I grew up on that cake. I live in Tx. now. I went to Gompers, Markham, Jordan, 116th, St. Locke when it first opened. Gotta have it!!! 😃💞❣️
Yeah you can omit the nuts. You were in my neck of the woods💕😉
I turned 69 last week!!! ❣️😃👍
Congratulations! Nothing like gaining another year of wisdom.

OMG so many memories coffee cake
Hi Carolyn! By any chance do you happen to have the LAUSD chocolate chip cookie recipe? I miss those cookies!
Oh my god, memories!! I remember I would eat it for breakfast all the time in Elementary. I was the friend that would others for theirs. Lol!
This brought a smile to my face. Me and my siblings and our friends absolutely LOVED this coffee cake.
Hi Miss Carolyn, wow i loved your web site dessert recipes at GBSeasonings, so many good stuff...but I couldn't find the 'Original' version of this school recipe for the coffee cake.
Ok this looks delicious and simple to make so I’ll give it a try. My only issue is the gluten for serious health issues so mine will have to be made gluten free. Hopefully it tastes as good as yours looks.
Is my tradition to make it with my kids every year ❤
