What is really convenient about LIV is I can watch the whole thing on RUclips. Still absolutely love PGA but I hate how their coverage constantly changes between networks and streaming.
I agree no commercials, and watch it on my 70 inch tv. I feel sorry for the PGA tour , You look at the leaderboard you might notice 1 name , I bet Viewership Has come down Drastically, Keep up The good work rick
I have yet to watch LIV, but when watching PGA in Hulu, I cannot stand how the feeds constantly end and it all the sudden changes to a different golf event....have to keep going back to hulu to select the new channel that the pga feed is on. Annoying as hell
This most recent LIV event that went down to the wire was one of the best golf watching experiences of my life. I am 30 years old, and grew up watching Tiger. If you forget about Liv PGA whatever and strip it down to purely the golf shots and the golf holes, this event was magical. Room to improve the league of course. But the individual play we just saw was unreal.
It is definitely a younger audience. And the team element is awesome!!! Over time, that will become the biggest pull. Team sports are just better for the fans.
Have to completely disagree. The shotgun start and the lack of narrative, including course narrative, ruins it for me. I like seeing players come down the stretch playing the same holes at the finish, and I like seeing other players waiting to see if they're going to win or lose on a final putt as opposed to someone winning on some random hole potentially where nobody is actually around to watch. To me the format loses all the tension that makes watching golf compelling. The rapid fire shots was really cool at first, but after about 30 minutes of watching I'm absolutely zoned out now, almost like sensory overload. Seems like it would be a good tournament style to attend in person though, because players are more chilled out, there are smaller crowds, and there's the whole festival vibe.
@@MrPoepope I totally get that. If you already know the course, you can kind of set a narrative in your own head that isn't necessarily laid out well by the production. You know what I mean? The basic fan may find it tough to fit it all together into one cohesive story. To me I was very on top of who needed what and when, but barely. It could be done better. Also, the team stuff should be on screen at all times with the "pylon" or whatever. We don't need to see 15 names, show us the top 5 or 6 then show the team standings. Keeping up with the teams movement on the leaderboard throughout is huge to me. Team sports are just awesome. Hopefully they can cultivate a real interest and narrative around the team competition. Still golf! Still the best in the world competing! Still awesome.
Listening to the gents story regards to him finding golf after attempting to take his life really resonated with me. Not because I tried to take my own life but back in January this year I suffered a heart attack and as a 45 year old father of 4 girls and also a grandfather to beautiful granddaughter's I also have found golf. I used to play very occasionally over a decade ago but life took over and I stopped playing. However since January's heart attack I have taken golf back up again, which has meant that I have played almost every week since usually with my Dad and Brother, sometime on my own. Without the youtube videos by your good self as well as Peter Finch and Danny Maude to help bring on my game I do not know what I would do without you guys, so keep up the great work.
Good, quick, compact golf watching is what this world today needs. I don't have time to be watching all day on many channels to piece together my favorites. I see everyone, all the time in this format. And that last hour of golf was crazy as shot after shot was swinging things wildly.
I had more fun watching this LIV tournament than any golf event in the last decade aside from majors. As more and more of the top golfers sign with LIV, the competition is extremely good. I really like the presentation, adding Feherty to the commentating team really did take it to another level. I will, from here forward, watch every LIV tournament. The ending was magnificent, and extremely stressful and exciting....that putt by DJ for the win was insane!
The LIV coverage is great. Enjoyable broadcast team. They spread the coverage all over the roster instead of sticking the camera on one man or just a couple of groups. No sappy stories. Limited commercial interruption. Once you get used to the leaderboard graphic, you get what’s going on all over the course. Love the countdown of holes left to play.
The fact LIV that broadcasts live on You Tube will have me checking in for at least a couple hours each tournament. There is a lot of talent on the LIV tour now. Rick was right on about the last hour in Boston...it was exciting. I think Cam Smith will pull in a lot of younger golfers and Aussies.
Also, something I thought of watching this weekend especially. All 5/6 players that were in contention at the end were all on course. Half weren't in the clubhouse waiting. To get all of that last couple hours in the pga you would have had to watch all day. That to me makes it more intense and more fun to watch.
@@CH-ws1mh I think without the BS commercials and player on the course, the action was non stop and truly entertaining. A tad over 5 hours is much more pleasant than a 12-13 hour day at a PGA event.
The Liv events have been amazing. Really enjoyed the broadcast and the action. Just has a fun vibe to it. Great energy. Love the shotgun start. Never any dull moments. Plus , an incredible ending with DJ rolling in that putt. Outstanding.
I have watched every LIV Golf event and have been a fan since day 1. I’m just a golf fan in general and just love to watch. I was at the mall with my wife and while she was shopping I was watching the event on my phone. I thought Sunday was the best day in LIV Golf so far. With the star power they had at the top to DJs putt to the team aspect of it, I thought it was great. I know people aren’t fans of LIV but I can say that I’m all on board for it.
Ha, same for me here in Notts. My wife (gone to bed) had heard me yelp when Westwood's 20 footer to save par on the last hope didn't make it. 😊 Cheers, Matt
Rick. You mentioned that the last hour of the LIV event was good, but you didn't need to watch the 1st 2 days. Isn't that true of all tournaments (outside of the majors)? That's not specific to LIV.
Im just getting hater vibes from them. Saying all these different tournaments is too much golf. I guess when LIV comes out its too much but it wasnt before. They are trying their hardest to not like LIV.
@@dominicespinozaa The PGA is full of it. They call it an exhibition and try to say LIV is not growing the game. Really? How does injecting Billions of dollars into the game of golf: Not grow the game of golf?
Unsure why everyone makes it out like you have to pick which type of tour you like. I love the history of the PGA tour and what it means to win each tournament, but I really enjoy LIV for what it is. Different. I like the shortened competition where every hole matters more than if it were a 72 hole comp. There's no 4th day to make a comeback... you need to be getting it right every stroke. I like the team aspect, and I hope in time they can bring mixed mens/ladies LIV golf as well as an extra side-piece. I say enjoy both for what they are, and stop pretending like you have to pick a side. Hopefully PGA comes to it's senses and can co-exist with LIV golf and we can enjoy the best talents in the world competing on all tours.
Mixed golf would kill liv. Nobody really wants to see that. It sounds good and it's really cool to say and all, but I would rather not see the comparison so directly.
At the end of the day it's golf. I'll watch any golf. Whether your a PGA fan boy or LIV fan boy. LIV are going nowhere and going to get stronger. Sooner people accept it the better
I have to admit that the last round of LIV was my favourite and I think having a better amount of high class golfers is due to that. I’m also from Australia so watching the final round on a Monday morning does make it much more easier to watch. Especially on company time 😂
Becoming LIV fan rapidly. Team format starting to work, quality of golf at Boston was excellent. You could say of every golf tournament you don’t need to watch the first days - the LIV event first few days was just as good as any other. Can Smith huge signing.
I love LIV golf. It’s fun to see a team competition along with the individual competition. Now that they have 4 of my top 8 favorite golfers it makes it easier to enjoy and I see that expanding further.
I really enjoy the college playoffs, Ryder Cup, President’s Cup, Walkers Cup, Solheim Cup, etc, but the LIV team thing just doesn’t hold any interest for me at all. The teams have no connection to anything. Pretty lame actually.
I understand your point of view. It’s still new, the teams/franchises haven’t fully been established. This will take some time to get used to. Next year the schedules will fill up with more tournaments and deepen the end of the year competition. If I understand it the way I think, it will be similar to the final round of the FedEx Cup playoffs. A big tourney at the end with the chance for an individual season champion and also a team champion. I played competitively through school and I loved the team aspect of golf. The LIV setup takes me back there and shows me a group of golfers playing for a team win, not just an individual win like all the other professional golf leagues. I may be wrong, but I’m sure golf is one of the only mainstream sports that starts out as a team sport and graduates to an individual sport at the professional level. I know there are other sports like bowling that do the same, but the mainstream sports like soccer, baseball, football and basketball all start and continue through the pros as team sports. It’s nice to see that happening for golf. I hope for some long term success and that we can get past all the hate going on in the golf world. Try to be positive and supportive of the players we’ve grown to love in a sport that we love.
If you did not enjoy the last day of LIV you don't like watching golf. Thats fine maybe you guys are not golf watching fans. But it was amazing. I got my dad watching it. And he loved it too. Was very exciting!
Got to be honest becoming a fast fan of LIV, The team factor does add another dimension to it. This is a radical Idea (and I know DP Tour have done this already), but I think there is a place in the world where Ladies and Men play against each other on a regular basis 🤷♂🤷♂.
I had a similar thought, especially given the team element. If they really wanted to further the game, it would make a huge statement. Then I remembered who are backing LIV, the Saudi’s aren’t known for gender equailty, but who knows what could happen in the future.
@@stuartbeveridge9016 I was thinking the same thing, I think they might do it if enough people ask for it because it’s not such a crazy idea. It’s not like they would add gay flags to the logo
Hearing the highlight music chime in on the broadcast and thinking your about to get hit with a commercial - only to be taken right back into the action will NEVER get old!
I’m enjoying and getting a lot more excited for live golf as it progresses on. Watching the team points, getting to watch the golf on a different golf course, and getting to see some tremendous shots and Putz. It’s its first year and I believe it’ll continue to gain momentum and begin to reach a lot more people as it moves into the future.
I like Liv as it challenges the status quo, like the team elements as it gives those who are not likely to win are trying and you can see it. Some people are challenged with change and so resist things. I would contend that lots of tournaments only get interesting in the final throws.
The last liv event was incredible. I watched the entirety of the last day - the action was building up perfectly and the finish was superb. Production quality very high for it being their first events and of course: I can easily switch from tv to laptop to handy thanks to the RUclips stream, pause rewind etc. Just so much better than this commercial heavy and expensive sky..
I can only say that I love watching LIV and also love the Team element. On sunday I found myself being totally engaged in how all the players did in order to see how the team element would end up... This latest event was absolutely fun to watch and what a finish. I just hope both LIV and PGAT will survive and thrive because I enjoy watching both events. And when you say you don't need to see it all (LIV event), isn't it true for both and not just LIV? I've heard (don't know if it's true) that the reason LIV is only three days is that nobody watch the first day on the tour anyway... Sorry for my english, it's sadly not my native language...
Got to say - I am now a LIV convert. Really enjoyed it at Boston. Quality line up, great golf, and the format is growing on me. I'll be watching it to see how it progresses.
I love the liv format, RUclips streamed, no commercials, watch the whole thing anywhere any time. Highlights actually makes sense. Have you tried watching a PGA event? What channel is it on, what network is covering it? Multiple different passes? It’s terrible.
I like the commercial free aspect as well but eventually LIV will need a network deal in order another source of revenue and to expand the audience as watching the event while it’s fine with us most others may not want to be glued to their iPad or cell phone.
This content is so on par. It is really refreshing that I am not the only one who is not that excited about LIV. Even if you guys liked it I would enjoy to hear from it. Loving it.
Love LIV, watch it in Australia on You Tube streaming from 4am , finished by 8am , suits me better, the excitement is there from the younger audience, the DP Tour has been killed by the PGA Tour, you would hardly know anyone on the DP Tour now, and i used to love to watch the European Tour broadcasts as i love the European Courses as opposed to the Resort Courses of the PGA regular tour - drive, pitch, putt, the courses played on LIV tour so far, have been absolutely fantastic, and a real challenge.
The Australian tour has been killed by the PGA Tour as well Greg Norman ( love him or not ) has been saying for years to play part of the PGA Tour in Australia, and now we will get a chance for 1 or 2 tournaments next year in Australia. Cant wait for the LIV tournament from Bangkok, on a brand new golf course, never used before, Thailand has sensational golf courses, and it will be boom for Asian Golf.
@@brucerobinson1037 Greg was always right. The PGA was a joke of a tour. I looked back at "majors" where pretty much the whole field were from the US and so you got these ridiculous winners like Larry Mize. I mean, the more tickets you have in a raffle, the more likely you are to win, right? Only a true global tour can tell us who is the best player. With the ranking system making the PGA Tour even more dominant it's going to be even harder for non-US players to make it.
I’m loving the team play!!! The four aces are dominating play right now. It’s getting more and more exciting and how fast the team leaderboard changes is fun to watch!
I really enjoy watching the LIV tournaments, they are fast paced and entertaining. I also really enjoy PGA and always will...I don't completely understand this fan loyalty towards only being PGA or LIV biased, in my opinion it doesn't have to be black or white..the more golf the better. And a new golf platform is great to give more of a chance for emerging pros. I hope they can reach an agreement as I think it would be great for LIV players to compete in open and masters championships. I think a PGA against LIV yearly Ryder cup would be awesome too.
The established tours is about earning your pay day. The golfers leaving to LIV get a massive pay day before they hit a ball. Then they want to come back and play on PGA, possibly taking the place of someone who hasn't earned as much as them, is that fair to you ?
@@gforce747 You've been sucked in the the media narrative, the attitude Rick's sidekick keeps repeating. LIV is new and needed in golf, team golf, being played on courses all around the world to a new larger fanbase. Growing the game.
@@OurAmazingSkies Golf is an individual sport. You can try and dress it up with teams, but they can't exactly pass the golf ball to eachother before they put it in the hole. They are individuals playing for themselves at the end of day. I'm not arguing with people over this anymore. I'm out
I’m not really buying that any of these guys really care about the team score. They’re still playing as an individual and the team scores just get added up at the end. Seems pointless to even have it unless they remove the individual scores and only count it as a team event
@@OurAmazingSkies Far too many people have been sucked in but I bet this changes over time. LIV is the best thing that's happened in golf for a long time.
the LIV tourney this past weekend was a blast. Great golf, super exiting end. Can't help but feel Guy's struggle isn't just deep bias. Lot's of folks, myself included love the team concept and when its 5 hrs, I can watch an entire day's broadcast, and get a round in as well.
arccos sensors have been very useful in assessing distances while playing. I do recommend if you are interested in tracking hitting distances while playing golf..
I agree....LIV doesn't have to worry about making everyone else's lists or rankings. They're growing fast enough to do their own thing. Make 'em all want to join them.
They're going to have to do better in the Majors. Yes, Cam won The Open, but other than that, it's been abysmal. And Cam wasn't on LIV then. When LIV players go straight up against PGA Tour players in Majors I think you will eventually see the dam break one way or another. The true competition spirit will win out, unless LIV decides to make Golf more about entertainment and makes the cup bigger, brings in Long Drive players and gets rid of out of bounds --I'm not kidding--and even give mulligans. If they do stuff like that who knows where this sport could go. Professional wrestling is way more profitable than real wrestling. Ironic.
This is coming from a newer golfers perspective after playing for 1 year. PGA is tradition with lots of rich history that can never be replicated and I appreciate it so much. It exudes legacy. LIV is exciting and very entertaining, with a fun format that caters to a wide range of golf enthusiasts or rookie level players like me just getting started. I don’t think picking sides is the play here. I feel appreciating the value that both can bring to our lives is the healthier and more holistic approach. Always remember comparison is the thief of joy. Cheers mates and let’s keep crushing life! 🍻
Professional golf is about the slow build of pressure. It’s not about excitement. If you want excitement, watch a faster sport. LIV is just golf with music and no viewership.
@@Dreyno is an eagle a slow pressured moment or exiting to watch? I guess you can find excitement in many things in life, if you’re willing to look deep enough. Golfing is very exciting to me. Whether I’m hitting a great shot or I see it done at a high level with these Pro’s. Btw we both have a great name! 😁
I think Cam joining injected a lot of momentum to Liv as a business sure but for the players too. Any competitive person will want to see how they square up and prove they have it against the best. This was the best tourney for them so far atmosphere and score wise, the runners probably couldn’t ask for more
But there's only 1 or 2 guys over there who - at this time - can be considered the best. If you want to watch or play against the best, they're still on the PGA.
maybe you can implement a once a month episode on breaking 70? using the statistics with golf you talked about and looking at fairways hit etc each round. then what you lacked on you can show footage of you practicing on the thing that needed work from the previous attempt at breaking 70. can show how you approach improving at aspects of your game etc
Guy made a great comment about being happy with your golf game. This weekend I played a great course and had my first Eagle attempt on a 520yd par 5.ive absolutely crushed a 3 wood 280yds on to the green. I 3 putted and walked away with a par. Its gonna stay in my memory for life as the greatest shot to date. That's what keeps us motivated to return again and again. I always remember what Tommy Fleetwood said in his podcast about the end of your round. Remember the best 3 shots. Wise words from a pro golfer. I don't have Facebook but I'm in the clubhouse.
Yes, me too. Plus, what are they really playing for? The events are essentially no-name, the teams thing seems contrived. The last thing we want is two completely divided and separate tours, I hope LIV and the PGA work something out soon.
@@CB-rv2lj Like any of the PGAT events names and trophies mean anything either, they change the name, course and location of tourneys all the time. It's just golf. It's the same way PGAT only counts PGAT wins but does not count any other worldwide tour wins. It's subtle but it feeds down into numpties.
Look at this comments section. Full of apparent LIV fans. I don’t know anybody who watches it and it’s viewership numbers are embarrassing. It’s paid shills and bots. They’re desperately trying to generate hype and momentum.

Been a LIV fan from the off, anything that can turn our sport more entertaining for our younger generation is a positive. I like the format with the fact players play in the same conditions and i love the standard of golf right now. The team element is not there yet, but will get better.
Cam Smith was fully contending on the LIV tour, in spite of playing a pretty nightmarish Rd 2. If there were 72 holes, I’d have put a lot of $$ on him to win. It’s got to be a massively different mindset for players. That being said, DJ is a monster when the occasion captures his attention. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Westy, the calf length white crew socks are either 10 years too late, or 10 years too early, but definitely not for today. There has got to be a TJ Maxx nearby where you can find different socks.

I'm just grateful to play golf at all in Alaska. I made it out for 1 round outdoors this summer, possibly the only weekend that wasn't flooded. LIV Golf is fantastic to watch. Loving the format. Great to see Lee Westwood playing so good again. Cam Smith is the best player on the planet ATM. I'm hooked. PGA who????????
Hey Guy! I suggested this to the Good Good guys to start a big break style RUclips series where you bring in aspiring RUclips golfers, aspiring pros, and or fans to do challenges for 12 weeks - if you’re familiar with the Big Break Golf Channel show - I’m sure sponsors could be found and it would be great content.

I'm a LIV fan. It's awesome that it streams live on YT. I see both tours becoming like the AFC and NFC in American football and top 25 players from both tours compete for a large pay day.
I get what your talking about with realistic expectations. I am an ex pga pro and changed career, got my amateur Status back. As I am now playing for fun and just having a laugh I am arguably playing some of the best golf I have played in years as going out each round with no expectations to shoot in the 60’s and to just have fun. I genuinely think the key is to just enjoy yourself. I Love the podcast as always
Excited for this one. I was wondering what the ending in Boston did for LIV in your minds, if anything. It is growing on me. Given, there are thing like the shotgun start that I don't love and can make it hard to track. The thing that is starting to turn me is the team aspect and that even if a golfer I like has a bad round, they remain relevant the next day and can still factor into results. Id be interested to go and take in an event live and see what the fan experience is like.
I just went to LIV Boston and I can personally say the live fan experience is amazing! Started off the day chatting with Phil Mickelson on his first tee box and ended it with DJ’s eagle to win. It felt like a full access event, getting to some of the best in the world tee off
As LIV is evolving it's rivalry with the PGA is increasingly reminding me of the wrestling wars of the 90's when it was WCW vs WWF (WWE) eventually the WWE bought WCW - not sure if the Saudi's are planning for that eventuality!
Loving wearing shorts, the more casual commentary, and the overall production quality of a newcomer organization (planning, organization, filming, etc.)
I’m new to golf and I went to LIV Boston. It was a great time. If you can’t watch at home because you have kids I understand. But make it out to an event with the kids, they’ll love it. I’m not into the politics of it. I thoroughly enjoyed the gallery club tickets in Boston. All you can eat. All you can drink. Indoor/out door club house. Air conditioning, give aways. Clean clean bathrooms. It was well worth it
Liv Golf is awesome! I fell in love the very first tournament, The Team aspect is fun, every golfer matters and can help his team. I also like how they will play around the world, and they include players from around the world.
If you're thinking about playing boring golf courses in Las Vegas I strongly recommend you consider Sky Mountain or Sand Hollow near St. George, Utah only a few hours. Fantastic scenery and wonderful golf!
At the End of the day The Majors are The Major Thing!!!!! So really Highlights on YT, & SM are where to catch up weekly but only lock in & get excited about The Majors!!!! Love y’all 🔥🔥 keep up the great 👍 stuff ⛳️⛳️
Contrary to those that have only criticized LIV, I actually love it. I like the roster of players LIV has put together. To think that the level of competition is less than the PGA is ignorant. Dustin Johnson won 4 million dollars. There was great competition throughout and especially at the end trying to win that purse. The team aspect is interesting but I don’t think the leaders are even thinking about it. Nobody really gives up on either tour because every shot dropped means less money in the paycheck. I happen to like the shotgun start. I find it to create an exciting ending especially if the leader is finishing on a difficult hole and the chaser is on a hole that should be birdied. Creates a different dynamic than the PGA. I happen to be a fan of both. Why wouldn’t one be. At the same time I am also a huge fan of the Champions Tour. I grew up watching those guys. They still provide great competition for each other. A true golf fan should like all the tours. I even like watching the Europeans in the mornings drinking my coffee while everyone else in my house is sleeping in.
LIV is the best thing to happen to golf since Augusta was carved out of Georgia farmlamd. Rick, you say you have other priorities on the weekend, but that's the reason to not watch any golf. The stars are moving to LIV, nothing will stop this shift and the PGA will never be the same as long as it plays the "you can't play here anymore" game. This attitude will quickly make the PGA a short stepping stone to LIV. Players are loving their new freedoms on LIV, not so much on the Tour.
Personally I think watching LIV is more entertaining and more exciting than the PGA but that's just my opinion. I remember when Tiger came on scene people thought he was ruining the game, too flashy, were pissed he was smacking 300+ yard drives with a little swag. I Black/Asian man taking over the game of golf and the PGA. Back then they said he was ruining the game. Come to find out that's exactly what golf needed. The sport exploded after that, and the ratings. That's how it is with LIV. You'll have the old timers that never want change saying it's bad for the game, but it will grow the game tremendously. It also gives more golfers opportunity. Every golfer that leaves either tour gives another golfer a chance to prove themselves. LIV is here to stay and excited for the future of golf!
The LIV Boston tournament had one of the greatest finishes for a non Major tournament in golf history. So many players in the mix and crazy shots and results with top players in the world in the mix like Joaquin Niemann, Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Lahiri, Westwood. Thrilling event and a MUCH STRONGER FIELD than the average PGA TOUR EVENT. GO LIV GOLF
I love watching the PGA tour...AND I love watching LIV golf. I find it new, exciting, refreshing, and see lots of potential for the future. Not a question of having one or the other, but a place for both.
LIV brings an exciting change to traditional golf... players interacting with spectators in a positive way and playing in shorts like most golfers to attract the younger golfers. They are growing the game in ways the PGA tour has had years to take advantage of but never did anything. I'll still watch PGA tour golf, but support the positive changes LIV is bringing to the game.
Loving the LIV broadcasts. Love having them stream on youtube so I can watch when I want, can pause if I need to and come back to it. Don't understand the people that say it's not exciting. Is it really any less exciting than watching the final round of the Honda Open or any other non-major on the PGA. The last 1-2 hours of LIV Boston was more exciting to watch than any non-major event I have ever watched. What is going to be interesting, if it ever happens, would be if a golfer is coming down 18 which is a par 5 with a 1-2 shot lead, but needs Eagle to push his team into 1st place, do they go for the eagle of play it safe to protect his lead?
Idk how you could watch it last weekend and not be enthralled. That was as exciting as golf has been in years. Bar majors it's been decades since a regular event was that exciting.
Huge fan of LIV. I can watch all the coverage and see all my favorite players, no need for ESPN plus to see early groups. The atmosphere is so young and fun and it is exactly the step golf needs to make, young, fast, flashy, fun.
@@gforce747 Nope, but it does provide and alternative. I like watch DJ play golf. So if I can watch DJ play instead of Rory, I would go over and watch LIV. Do you see how that works. There and millions of people across the world that feel the same way. Everyone has a favorite golfer to watch, for most it was a Tiger Woods. Well, Tiger is at the end of his career so people will pick another.
@@DavidBrown-jt7yi fair enough, so you don't mind that he has taken a lot of money (he was loaded already) and gone off to play exhibition golf and you still admire that? I am a fan of Rory but he if sold out like DJ that would change my opinion on him.
@@gforce747 I don’t really think of it that way. I believe that the PGA is still great watch and I do watch it but if there was an alternative to watch i would tune in. I don’t mind that the players are looking after themselves to be honest. If someone wanted to give you 100 million dollars to play a game, you might make the switch as well. I think the PGA has done a lot for their players but as we are finding out now, I think they’ve been holding back or taking advantage of the entire tour a long time. They make a ton of money and they do some great things, but we can see by them adding prize money that they probably could’ve been doing that for a very long time. Phil M said this would happen and it did. It just forced the PGA to act. I think a LIV TV deal would bring greater competition and maybe a Ryder Cup event between the two organizations.
I initially wasn't sold on LIV. But after that last tournament it's really starting to click. The broadcast with Bubba and Feherty, no commercials (which for me is the biggest.. PGA has almost become unwatchable) and the ability to stream anywhere.
I think it would be amazing if LIV golf have teams that are the golf brands, similar to Formula 1. Imagine if there was Team Titleist, Bridgestone, Callaway, Mizuno, Taylormade etc where the players only use the clubs, balls, bags etc of their respective team.
That F1 aspect could be interesting. Would be hard bc so many players have mixed brand equipment, ex. Titleist wedge and TaylorMade driver, but not impossible.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see sponsors on the teams going forward. They’re going to change the names next season I heard. Thank God, because these names are trash lol
I like the way the teams have evolved to be based on country of origin. South Africans against Spanish. Aussies against Americans. I couldnt root for an equipment manufacturer.
I am a fan of what LIV is doing as it is bringing some of the worlds best players around the world to play some amazing golf courses, which present new and unique challanges outside of the typical american set up of water hazards and thick rough.
Im really enjoying LIV. Outside of the majors, I rarely watched golf, because I rarely had the time. the time I did have to watch, the players I enjoy following wouldnt be playing/showcased. I only watched an hour or so of LIV end of each day but in that time I saw majority of the players and the days final scores. I'm also open to being biased because im starting to get really annoyed at golf media/PGA constantly bitching about it (used to be a Rory fan, now I see him and immediately get a violin out). Supposedly LIV does as well but I just haven't seen it.
I don't have any sports subscriptions, so any golf tournament that is accessible is great for me, it was really good to watch the LPGA coverage too last week, so guess I'm a fan 👍
Why would the PGA engage with a tour who measures it’s viewerships in the tens of thousands rather than the millions the PGA does? It’s a nothing tour with no fans.
@@mathewthornton4030 It would legitimise a hijacking of the sport by people using it to improve their image as human rights abusers and murderers. That stain will never lift.
This week was the first LIV golf I watched from start to finish. I could care less about the team part of the golf but the end with DJ winning in a playoff was fun. I still prefer the PGA tour, but will check out LIV more regularly if it continues to be fun to watch.
What is really convenient about LIV is I can watch the whole thing on RUclips. Still absolutely love PGA but I hate how their coverage constantly changes between networks and streaming.
The ZERO COMMERCIALS is huge as well. No "playing through" crap with a small box during a "half commercial" either. It's noticeable and appreciated!
I agree no commercials, and watch it on my 70 inch tv. I feel sorry for the PGA tour , You look at the leaderboard you might notice 1 name , I bet Viewership Has come down Drastically, Keep up The good work rick
If you like erection pill commercials then the pga tour coverage is for you.
Didn’t even think about this but you’re so right… I enjoy listening at work on Thursday & Friday & channels are always changing

Check out the "good good labs" videos from the boys. They also have great content
I was there at Liv Boston and I can say it was a great experience and I would definitely go back next year.
I'm 38 and Cam is my favorite pro golfer. The great hair, walks with confidence, all while being a quiet assassin
It was so good to watch on Sunday!
Also, something I thought of watching this weekend especially. All 5/6 players that were in contention at the end were all on course. Half weren't in the clubhouse waiting. To get all of that last couple hours in the pga you would have had to watch all day. That to me makes it more intense and more fun to watch.
Agree, that last hour was insane!
Loving LIV from Aus, seeing Westwood in the mix was awesome. I was roaring at the TV at 6.30am! Woke up the family.
Ha, same for me here in Notts. My wife (gone to bed) had heard me yelp when Westwood's 20 footer to save par on the last hope didn't make it. 😊 Cheers, Matt
Same here... it was electric ⚡️
Rick. You mentioned that the last hour of the LIV event was good, but you didn't need to watch the 1st 2 days. Isn't that true of all tournaments (outside of the majors)? That's not specific to LIV.
He shilling mate. Jay is in his pocket
Exactly
Im just getting hater vibes from them. Saying all these different tournaments is too much golf. I guess when LIV comes out its too much but it wasnt before. They are trying their hardest to not like LIV.

@@josephhall2748 I loved the Scandinavian mixed event on the European Tour.

I agree, it won't surprise me if LIV Golf extends to global ladies' golf eventually.
I had a similar thought, especially given the team element. If they really wanted to further the game, it would make a huge statement. Then I remembered who are backing LIV, the Saudi’s aren’t known for gender equailty, but who knows what could happen in the future.

I just like having LIV put up the tournaments on RUclips.. I can watch at my leisure.
LIV was awesome this past weekend. I saw over 200k watching on YT at one point. And that playoff hole was crazy
Just want to say the time stamps have NOT gone unnoticed, highly appreciated.
I like Liv as it challenges the status quo, like the team elements as it gives those who are not likely to win are trying and you can see it. Some people are challenged with change and so resist things. I would contend that lots of tournaments only get interesting in the final throws.
This podcast has been one of my favorites. Just love the conversation and interaction about golf. It makes me walk-through and Palmer my game
The two of you do such an awesome job- bringing a whole new audience to the game of golf. Keep it going.
Boston event was pretty awesome tbf
I really enjoyed LIV golf this time around. It feels like the have a critical mass of players, and the ending was quite exciting.
The Australian tour has been killed by the PGA Tour as well
Greg Norman ( love him or not ) has been saying for years to play part of the PGA Tour in Australia, and now we will get a chance for 1 or 2 tournaments next year in Australia.

LIV should make their own world rankings for the players ! 👍
I agree....LIV doesn't have to worry about making everyone else's lists or rankings. They're growing fast enough to do their own thing. Make 'em all want to join them.
The PGA's grip on the rankings is slipping.
Ironic.

I love the teams. That’s how I play 60% of my gold Tuesday best ball, and Sunday lowball 4 person team.
Guy made a great comment about being happy with your golf game. This weekend I played a great course and had my first Eagle attempt on a 520yd par 5.ive absolutely crushed a 3 wood 280yds on to the green. I 3 putted and walked away with a par. I'm torn on LIV. I like that it's less stuffy and elite as a PGA tour event, but it also feels sort of corny.
Yes, me too. Plus, what are they really playing for? The events are essentially no-name, the teams thing seems contrived. The last thing we want is two completely divided and separate tours, I hope LIV and the PGA work something out soon.

@@OurAmazingSkiesGreg playing the Vince McMahon role ... Royal Rumble it is! 🤣
It was well worth it
I love being able to watch on RUclips watching Dustin Johnson drain that put felt just like a pga event cheers
Speaking of American engagements, congratulations to our friends Matt Scharff and Grant Horvat. Couldn’t have happened to nicer guys. 👍🏻 💍 ❤️
DJ won $4 million? And? McIlroy won $18 million last week. Nobody cares if multimillionaires win another few million.
The Boston LIV tournament was exciting. I don't remember the last time I was glued to the screen watching golf. And what and ending!
Try skipping just one LIV event. Truth is, the LIV contracts are more restrictive than the PGAT. The judge said so
Personally I think watching LIV is more entertaining and more exciting than the PGA but that's just my opinion.
Thank you for sharing that last email from Thomas. WOW!!! Fantastic.
Favourite episode in a long time! Great work lads
Love LIV last tournament I watched every minute of it. Excellent golf and amazing TV production
Love the comments about Good Good and totally enjoyed the videos!
This weekend's liv was the best TV golf outside of the open. Interesting to see what TV format it's on next year
Fantastic last message and topic. I truly empathize with him!
If LIV can get a TV deal, it would put major pressure on the PGA Tour.
How? You think everyone is just going to stop watching the PGA?
Nice show, enjoyed the discussions. I never cared for watching PGA, but have enjoyed watching LIV Golf.
Loving LIV.
If the PGA was smart they would arrange a PGA vs LIV team event.
Ratings would be pure gold.
This is a great idea. Let them battle it out. Cool. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
F1 is most fake and rigged "sport" in the world................ childish stuff ............ dont go that route
It's coming...
Also what are chances of a LIV vs PGA........
Id love in the future Liv and PGA do a joint event like the Ryder Cup between them
Why would the PGA engage with a tour who measures it’s viewerships in the tens of thousands rather than the millions the PGA does? It’s a nothing tour with no fans.
@@Dreyno i said in the future as im sure it will grow and could be a fun way to build bridges between the two parties
Never gonna happen. Pga won't engage with liv
@@mathewthornton4030 It would legitimise a hijacking of the sport by people using it to improve their image as human rights abusers and murderers. That stain will never lift.
LlV was a brilliant on the weekend, down to the wire and excellent golf.
This week was the first LIV golf I watched from start to finish. I could care less about the team part of the golf but the end with DJ winning in a playoff was fun. I still prefer the PGA tour, but will check out LIV more regularly if it continues to be fun to watch.
Personally I’ve been glued to my screen watching LIV. Haven’t ever done that with the PGA
