Throughout the 10 years he’s done 5-0 I was surprised by the salary disputes it caused for the whole cast, specially for the Asian actors. I felt really sorry for them, specially Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park. And despite them leaving and the controversy surrounding it, at least the rest of the cast including Scott and Alex stood up for them. They’ll always be remembered as the OG 5-0 to me and the fans 👏🏻❤️

I want to sympathize, yet a 10 year gig in a leading role on one of the most popular and successful franchises in history is pretty much the wet dream of every aspiring actor on the planet. It's an annual budget you can count on, a lucrative contract worth millions each year, a character everyone enjoys, a location with an environment most people escape to for their vacations, a stable family life without having to move for each new job, etc. Not to mention the residuals he'll enjoy for the rest of his life that will probably end up paying him more than he earned while on the show.

it's a double edge sword. yes, after doing a show for many years it becomes repetitive if they are not progressing with the character's arch. Having said that...a lot of actors will never get the chance to experience being on a successful T.V. show that can last for a decade. I always felt way when Michael left Smallville. It has nothing to do with his talent to not be able to land on another hit show...its just the nature of the business and the reality of it. it can't be an easy decision to make and walk away from.

Although the series wasn't the same after Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park left, it had the perfect ending and not one episode is bad. Im still questioning and trying to find an answer as to why Kim and Park left the series so frustrated - i get that they were underpaid (i dont know by how much) but I still think it was worth it - making friends and interacting with fans is priceless tbh.

Ya but the truth is actors who go to TV really don't have a huge range. THere are exceptions but you don't really think of TV actors as "exceptional". They're usually good looking people who can read lines well enough. In reality they should bank and invest as much as they can, and use the money to produce or create their own projects. If you can't do that, you really should just be thankful for the gig that 99.99% of the actors would love to have.

I wonder how different his answer would've been if he wasn't the son of a Hollywood icon; if he was a struggling actor, waiting tables in between auditions, wondering if he'd ever be able to make a living as an actor or if instead he'd have to give up his dream & find a regular job...
Also, not taking a shot at the guy, but how many guys his height make it as Hollywood stars, in movies or in TV? Tom Cruise is often cited as a being a "short" actor. He's 5'7" Other "short" leading men include Tom Holland (5'8"), James McAvoy (5'7"), & Al Pacino (5'7")... Caan is 5'5". Guys that height generally aren't leading men; they're sidekicks or comedic actors... The fact that he got to be an co-lead in an action procedural for 10 years, & the lead in another show at his height is unheard of. I feel like the opportunity he had would not have been afforded to anyone else his height, so he should be more thankful for the career that he's had.

Not in this particular interview others that ran during the time the show was still “live” (not re runs or syndication) painted Scott as a bit ungrateful as the show went on, if you faithfully watched all the episodes he is missing from several. He was the number two lead (or I guest co lead) of the show. Supposedly some of his absences was scheduling conflicts. I thought scheduling conflicts during Hawaii five o he wasn’t in anything else. Also the main lead (forgot his name the actor portraying Steve) had far better attendance. Anyway I have literally no sympathy for folks getting millions of dollars acting then they have complaints about “ I hate traveling back and forth” ..as far as missing family ..it’s acting on a tv series you aren’t working on the show all year. I’ve read how many shows are made including blue bloods in those interviews Donnie has pointed out they filming only a few months a season for all the episodes. So you visit family on the months you aren’t filming is my point. Full disclosure I have nothing against Scott personally I just hate ungrateful people, I don’t think he’s a good actor though.

They wanted to be paid as much as Scott and Alex who were the main characters, it's why the audience watched the show, every episode revolved around them. Alex even did his own stunts. All actors put in great work, but don't be asking to be paid as much as the lead, come on.

Scott Caan, the little guy who desperately tries to act tough in Hawaii Five-0. This show is embarrassing because of it's ludicrous ultimate in `cheesey' acting, especially from Scott Caan. Watching this guy trying to play a tough guy is cringing. Although, it amusing to see little Danny getting off with a chic that he has to look up to. It's like watching a hot babe wrestling with a puppy. It's such a shame his dad, James Caan didn't sit him down one day and advise him NOT to go into acting, or in little Scott's case, overacting.
