We were unfortunately set back on VFX significantly last year, so this took much longer to put out than we'd have liked. Many shots in here are still unfinished but we wanted you guys to get some form of update on this project as quickly as possible, given the wait.

Watch as there’s a scene where the main characters are cornered and everything looks bleak, one of them finally takes off their mask revealing its wendigoon who yells “It’s wendigoon time!” And turns into a wendigo and goons on the enemies

I think I saw one of my milsim west cadres in this trailer. The last event I attended we were 200 or more in a column walking across grassy hills on a farm at night under NODS. Seeing that column was quite the sight. I ended up dropping out from lack of sleep. I left too late and decided to drive instead of sleep and that cost me😢

One thing I love about these short films is that with the reduced runtime, there is less of a focus on "Main Characters" meaning no one has plot armor. They might be named, but that doesn't mean they'll survive!

Even as someone who has been deep in the stalker universe for some time, please refrain from using an abundance of pricey gear, the mercs and the military are the exception to this. I'm sure most people don't care about everyone having optics and NVGs on people but the vast majority of people in the zone are running in with guns that have been either holdovers from the time Ukraine was in the USSR or their grandpa's rifle from WW2. If you want to go for an authentic look look into stuff like what would you get in the Eastern European surplus market, illegal arms trade, or even what minimal Western involvement would look like. Yes some STALKERS have pricey gear but they're typically veterans of the zone or well supplied which is rare
TLDR: please don't make everyone have equipment that wouldn't make sense in a former Soviet state.
The whole plot is about an external military team going into the Zone to locate a signal. It makes sense a modern military team would have that kit. If you look at the enemies and the free Stalker that's guiding them they have a lot worse gear.
As long as they don't sideline the main charcter Stalker and make him essential to the team it should be fine.
@@bobtank6318 I also wouldn't completely underestimate the kind of equipment you can get in the zone. People, outsiders and long time residents alike, are always dying, and all that reminds at times are just the guns, the kit and whatever shell casings the scavenger finds. It's not impossible that some government outsider gets swept away and a stalker comes along and collects it for his use.

@@tinmen5943 it is hard to explain in a youtube comment, but basically, the zone has a lot of things going on that break what we know about our world, gravity feilds that lift you up and make you explode, psyonic feilds that scramble your brain, i recommend learn a bit about the STALKER lore before watching.

Most loners are there to do just about anything to make some cash, and if you had to only say one thing to describe the clients of mercenaries…itd be they have a shitload of cash clearly. I don’t see it being that hard at all to convince most loners to work for them when they need one.
I got chills three separate times watching this. No corners cut and no expense spared from the looks of it.

Only thing that i worry about is how equipped Skeleton team is going into the zone, a large amount of enjoyment in the universe in STALKER comes from how dirty and ragged everything is.
They seem to Lack understanding of what the Stalker series is about

Stalket is about stumbling upon bandits, barely surviving, looting them, getting above the weight limit so you have to walk, and half way to a safe zone to trade the items, you stuble upon a pack of dogs and have to climb the nearest structure to not get mauled, you avoid them and just when you're getting to your objective, an emission goes off and you get into shelter seconds before death. Stalker is about feeling better in the zone than in the real world because there you have a pourpose, and shared trauma creates stronger bonds than you ever had outside. This is what Stalker is about, not tacticool shootouts in an apocalyptic enviroment while characters spit pseudo philosophical stuff that has no meaning because it's fictional philosophy.
Maybe it sounds like i'm indirectly criticising this, but no, nobody really knows what's this gonna be like.

@@mrdrebin123 Not really, STALKER is about struggling to survive, getting into intense firefights with rusted, barely functional weapons, fending off dangerous mutants until you reach relative "safety". It's why I have such low hopes for this, as it's just Tarkov larp with a STALKER skin.
I’m going to be brutally honest…
This doesn’t look like STALKER. It doesn’t match the pace, the atmosphere or even the story of what STALKER is supposed to be. STALKER is grimy, dirty, hopeless, dangerous, depressing and grim. This just looks like a T-Rex arms video. If you showed this to me without the STALKER logo I wouldn’t have known it was supposed to be STALKER. It looks more like an Escape From Tarkov flick and those two games represent very different genres. If I had to wager a guess, I doubt we’ll see a mutant or some of the more sci-fi elements like exo-suits. Shame.
It’s cool for what it is, but I gotta agree it’s not stalker. Even the Mercs in game weren’t as kitted out as people think they were, but this trailer shows them tacticooled out with NATO weaponry and expensive NVGs. Only thing stalker was a couple of gas masks and a vss. It’s a shame if this just ends up being shaky firefight camera footage instead of that eerie and anomalous outdated Warsaw pact feel the original games depict

It's missing the charm that Stalker Had, Contract by Sodaz is a food example of mixing the more tactical aesthetics with Stalker, but this takes too much of the Tarkov Juice instead of the STALKER Juice, atleast the Monolith Guys are making their own short film
It should've been called GAMMA, because this is clearly inspired by Grok's Tarkov-esque slop, and no one who worked on it ever touched the original trilogy.

It's just going to be a "war film". It has none of the atmosphere of Stalker.
I'm not sure if anyone will even notice that right away but I'm SO GLAD you used Ukrainian voices for the intro. So many forget that Stalker is based in Ukraine (not just the GSC Game World but the whole universe itself) and this little detail means so MUCH for us Ukrainians.

This doesn't scream S.T.A.L.K.E.R, this screams "look at our kit and how cool we are." S.T.A.L.K.E.R is about the gritty harsh nature of human greed and the devastating effects it has on the world. As the mercs, they should be shown killing everyone and everything, NOT these cool ultra SOF guys. The gear is too clean, the weapons are too pristine, the environment is okay, etc.

I'm assuming they focused on action shots for people who aren't already familiar with the stalker atmosphere. The monolith dude not reacting to rounds is spot on, effects look about right. anyone that expects it to be exactly stalker is gonna be disappointed.

I dunno man, that doesn't really feel like stalker.
The mercs are way too overgeared, in the games they were rocking modified EEU civilian ARs, L85s and maybe the occasional G36.
The only people you'd find kitted out in full plate and NVGs are high ranking faction members and maybe sarcophagus monolith fodder.
Feels closer to the "raid" series for Tarkov with anomalies and faction logos glued on than it does anything from the games.
That's what I began thinking too, maybe there'll be a good reason for it, maybe they're all pretty high ranking or maybe they wanted to get top notch gear since the mission seemed pretty unusual or dangerous. Or maybe it'll just be because of it being closer to stalker 2 that the original trilogy. Hope there's a good explanation as to why they're overly kitted out
@@BlackRifleCrono Perhaps, there's always the possibility of a later time period than the originals simply resulting in the wider proliferation of better gear.
@@NacalalSure, it's possible. The better gear exists in the universe in the game as events take place in modern times, and it's definitely plausible that it could happen.
However the issue I see is that it doesn't match the VIBE of Stalker series. It's way too tactical, especially in the gear. When you think of Stalker, you think of trying hard to survive with what you have, which is usually shoddy.
I still admire the production quality, it looks amazing. Really great job. It just doesn't FEEL Stalker, unfortunately.
