@GreatScott! Wenn du Plexiglas Fräsen willst ist es oftmals auch schon hilfreich die Drehzahl runter zu nehmen oder den Maschinen Vorschub zu erhöhen, so dass der Kunststoff nicht zu heiß wird.

For the germans in the commentsection:
If you don't like the softness of copper wire (bends easily >.>), you can use steel wire. It isn't as solderable, but good enough. Graupner sells straight steel wire. 0.8mm*1000mm costs around 30cents or so.

I find it very hard to find proper documentation, or even just information on how these diodes actually work. It all well and good that there are libraries out there to control them, but how are they actually controlled? And what are the limitations? How many can be daisy chained together, how fast can you push the data, and so on and so forth.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
And of course, thank you for your hard work, that too is appreciated.

+Felix Nielsen Jesus H Christ. add the frigging mA together for the load you have to support. figure out how to power the max without burning your microcontroller. and for God's sake, look up multiplexing and charlieplexing.
people are only going to give so many answers. look up videos by Kevin Durrah. watch them 3 or 4 times, come back, then revise your question.

ich würde total Freuend wenn du mal ne Rubrik machen würdest wie zum Beispiel“the simples“ wo du dann einfachere schaltungen erklären und oder bauen könntest.

Dear god, my first ever project was building the 4X4X4 RGB LED cube thinking it would be quick, but took me months. All that soldering on the circuit board w/ the 3 TLC chips and the arduino, MOSFETS, etc.... I just finished it 3 weeks ago. Now I see all I needed to do was get these bulbs and run the whole cube off an Arduino... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hey Scott, little tip: For straightening the wires I found it usefull to use a power drill: Clamp one end of the wire in the drill, hold the other end with pliers, straighten the wire by pulling with the pliers and give the wire like a few dozens of turns (or more if you like). Result: Wire straight as an arrow and stiffer, too (cause of work hardening). Dont overdo it though, as the wire will be more prone to breaking (also due to work hardening). Give it a try! :)

you could easily cut the acrylic glass just with a box cutter. Sharp on both sides along your lines and then brake it at an etch of a table. This looks a much more better then with a dremel.

@GreatScott! I love these basic videos, since I'm a programmer and I don't know much about electronics.....
I've a question: are those LEDs like the Neopixels? (You talked about daisy chaining the data out with the data in...)
My guess is that the Netopixels will keep the value they receive, and these ones need to be refreshed as fast as possible.... right?
What are the diferences? (I'm asking because Neopixels are super exepensive... www.adafruit.com/category/168)
I want to do something like this: ruclips.net/video/DTb0k_P1wlY/видео.html
(Be able to control each pixel in the table...)

at 3:08 , how does that space fit in a 8 mm hole for your schematic? On the right hand side, how does the 0.8mm holes work? Within the 8mm allotted, is it 3mm, then 2mm, then hole, then 2 mm, then 3mm? That adds up 11.6mm within the allotted 8mm for the LED which doesn't make sense.

I know this video is 7 years old but I had theorized decades ago on the matrix we exist in during a theory of everything debate way back when AOL chatrooms were a thing and this cube is a perfect example , if you shrink down the LEDs to plank size and the colors covered the entire spectrum of colors in a prism as each pls k sized LED changed colors but done so the neighboring led is what effects the change then you are visually looking at a representation of the fabric we exist in and as the colors change it is also how time becomes a part of all existence when one considers the changes in each color a transcendence of temperature. Also if you eliminate the wires and can make the plank sized LEDs float the gaps between each light is the paths which strings as in string theory traverse through the entirety of space as well as provide the basis from which formulas for black holes quasars stars gravity and so on are created .

Hi, I really like the simplicity of this build, but I'd like to go bigger, 8x8x8, would this be possible with the same components? I figure I might need a different resistor and probably a more powerful power supply but other than that I would expect this set-up to just scale up?
