  • I spent a day exploring around Green River Utah! You might not think so, but there are SOOO many interesting things to see around Green River, such as Goblin Valley, San Rafael Swell, Range Creek, Wild Cat Mesa, Sego Ghost Town, and more! I didn't go to any of these interesting places, but instead went to two places where I thought there would be ancient ruins.
One satellite photos, these two places look promising. In person, it was a little bit different. That's OK though. Not every adventure needs to be an action-packed trip. I still had a great time seeing new things and I hope you enjoy this video too!

The Chaffin Ranch Geyser is on private property, so please be respectful when visiting. It's an old man-made well site.

Wow, I googled the info on the grave marker, and got this: "On October 29, 1998, Scott Joseph Merrill hid among rocks overlooking a road upon which Charles Watterson, an employee of Emery County, was operating a road grader.   When Mr. Watterson approached Mr. Merrill's location, Mr. Merrill approached the grader and repeatedly shot Mr. Watterson, killing him.   Mr. Merrill then took Mr. Watterson's belongings and left the scene."

The Half circle looks kind like a mud geysers core that has been eroded away

It's south of Green River about 2 hours. Maybe shorter, but I was in my low clearance car and was going slow

In Green River ask for directions to Airport Road. If you can find Ray's Tavern on the south side of Main St., work your way south and look for the road going underneath Interstate 70. This is Airport Road. Stay on this road for about one mile or so until it forks. The airport is to the right. The left fork goes for a long long ways through fantastic desert wilderness. You can get a map/guide of this road at the John Wesley Powell museum in Green River. The map shows places of interest along the way, like the Great Gallery pictographs in Horseshoe canyon...plus overlooks of the Green River hundreds of feet below. Be careful near sheer cliffs. This is my favorite Utah back road, I've been down it many times. Be prepared for remote back country travel, bring food and water, spare tire, tools, full gas tank. Pay attention to the weather. This road goes south for more than 100 miles. 4WD strongly recommended.

@@mikeday62 Does that map at the museum pinpoint where the little bathtub or the old cars or the geyser are? How far past the turnoff for fossil point ?

@@GlennSSmith Hey Glenn, the bathtub is my own discovery, so I doubt it would be on some maps. The old cars are at the Chaffin Ranch Geyser which can be easily found on Google Maps. I'm still creating a post on it on my website with more details so check back soon!

@@mikeday62 Is that "bathtub" close to that ? It has piqued my interest.
