    Nothing like Glass smooth water on such a beautiful river. Now that you got the boat, how about an invite to a one day fishing trip? You make me regret not buying a certain house on the Rainbow/Withlacoochee River many years ago. Actually it was on Lake Rousseau, down there close to Dunnellon, Florida. I believe you will be happier with a fully loaded boat, versus just a few more MPH. The boat looks like a winner to me, but the motor is quite loud.

    • @TKOutdoors
      @TKOutdoors  5 лет назад +1

      I've always heard about the rainbow River, never been on it. I have fished lake Rousseau when I was younger. Fully loaded is the only way this boat is going to be, if I want to go fast I'll climb in our bay boat. Driving fast on some of these rivers is asking for trouble, even in a shallow water boat such as this one. The motors are loud because it's essentially a lawnmower engine with the exhaust above water unlike a normal outboard. That's the price you pay to be able to go places outboards can't go.

    • @jacktaylor1030

      @@TKOutdoors ,
      The Rainbow River is really beautiful, it's just to short , It may be a real fun river to fish with the Whoppper Plopper, though. It has a lot of Grass on the bottom hiding fish, of course the day I fished it, the bite was really slow. My whole week in Florida with my Father was rather uneventful. The place looks extremely fishy every where you go, making it harder to find the treasured Honeyholes.
      Where the Rainbow Springs flow from the ground held some 10+ pound bass the day I visited the Headwaters, that area is sadly a no fishing Zone.

    I’m looking at one of these boats, and I’d like to know how it would work in a bigger Lake / deeper/ rougher water.

    • @TKOutdoors
      @TKOutdoors  4 года назад

      It's a flat bottom so expect a bumby ride in rough waters. With that said, it's got a double floor, welded in supports across the boat and welded in runners that go up and down the hull underneath the top floor. It does not flex or beat around like a normal thin aluminum boat. These are built to take abuse. Other than that it fishes just like a normal boat. Being flat bottom the wind can blow the back end around if you don't keep the motor in the water.

I was going to get a 17' but it looks like you are doing just fine with the 18'. Do you like the pointed bow or would you get the flat bow if you bought one again?

    • @TKOutdoors

    Hey buddy, what is that boat mainly used for? I’ve seen a few coming and going out of Rocky. Is it for shallow water?

    • @TKOutdoors
      @TKOutdoors  4 года назад +1

      Yes, it is a surface drive engine. Basically a lawn mower engine that doesn't need cooling water and a prop that's specifically designed to run in a couple of inches of water. I've had one for about 6 years and love it for shallow water fishing. At the end of the day, it's still a lawn mower engine and I wonder how they will hold up with constant saltwater use. I stick to mainly fresh water with mine. This is my second boat with that type of engine.

    What’s biggest load you have had in the boat? Looking at buying one soon but had the run around about how a 18/48 does with a 4 man no gear load

    • @TKOutdoors
      @TKOutdoors  2 года назад

      Perfectly fine with a two blade prop (better for load carrying). I've carried a 1000lbs of people and gear before, you know it's in there but it gets on plane. If constantly carrying a heavy load, I'd go with a 54 wide. The occasional big load, the 48 is fine.

  • @zatoichiable
    @zatoichiable 3 года назад

    whats the effect if you put 3 bladed props?

    • @TKOutdoors
      @TKOutdoors  3 года назад

      3 blade is smoother, a little faster and I feel like better reverse. 2 blade carries a load a lot better, gets on plane quicker and is better in the mud/weeds.

    How's the turning on this style boat? Long and wide, or tight? I also live in Florida (central ) and we get into some tight areas.

    • @TKOutdoors
      @TKOutdoors  5 лет назад +1

      It's different than a standard boat. Not as tight due to the style motor but I have no problem on these tight small rivers. I slow down for very tight turns. I have not noticed any sliding or problems of that nature, but I bought the extreme model that has a hull design specifically made to help eliminate that. I've owned a lot of boats in my life and I don't regret this purchase at all for my style fishing.

At the end of the day this is everyone's river, it doesn't belong to a select few. You know as well as I do it's extremely difficult to run this river without specific types of boats or knowledge of where the rocks, channels ect are. I get it, I really do, you don't want this becoming another ichnatucknee or Wakulla. I have very few viewers and a lot of them live in other states or countries.
