  • Do you feel you've given your favorite games enough? Have you played them long enough and earned all the achievements? How much is enough to prove a game is your favorite?
I wanted to talk a little bit about how much I've put into my list of favorite games and compare them to games I wouldn't consider favorites at all and discuss what the "right amount" is that we should give games. I'd love to hear what some of your favorites are and how much time you've given to different games and why.
Thanks so much for sticking around and I hope you enjoy!
An additional HUGE thank you to ‪@LilYoda66‬ for support with scripting and captures!

Definitely agree. I love BioShock and Portal 2 and they’re amongst my favorite but I couldn’t see myself playing them multiple times because that first time was a precious moment to me. Gaming can just be personal or be something you can replay over and over on your own, with friends or stream. It’s up to the person on what makes them feel comfortable. Great video and topic. 👏🏽

Thank you! I feel like it's doubly true for games like Portal too. It could be a favorite, but so much of that experience and enjoyment is derived from the first play through; solving the puzzles and uncovering all the secrets for the first time. The second time around, since you've already solved everything, is substantially different, and with a game so focused and so linear, there's not exactly a lot of room for exploration or experimentation. Regardless, the unlikeliness of playing a second time shouldn't detract from the enjoyment of that initial experience or make it any less a favorite if it is one.

I literally just played both Portal and Portal 2 for the first time earlier this year. 100% understand the obsession

I agree. Personally, the Metro series by Dmitri Glukovshky and 4A studios is my beloved favorite. While I do still read the books, I don't come back to the games very often. But having played them once is enough for me, I made great memories that way and recognized it was the best experience I had with gaming.

Love it! I played 2033 right when it came out and honestly had you asked me then I probably would have considered it a favorite, or at least a contender, but I never even played the sequels. That first game hit hard for me.

@@ItsMrSkitz 2033 and its Redux still is the best in the series, the other ones just don't itch the right spot when it comes to Metro

I love Nier Automata, it is so good, I clocked in 30 hours the first playthrough, then 15 hours a few months later and I really loved it at that point, and the last 15 hours another few months later really made it one my favorite game and I would replay it.

both RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 and GTA 5 are my favorite games and for some reason i only played those two once for the story, yet games like DOTA2, LEAGUE and CSGO are the most played, and they're not what i considered as favotites.

I still need to play RDR2. I love Westerns and I loved the first one but the scale of 2 just intimidates me haha

I also played modern warfare 2019 to death, and don’t get me wrong I definitely liked it and spent probably a hundred hours just playing search and destroy, however a lot of this was due to having so much time in covid and it being so replayable as a multiplayer game compared to games I find better yet less replayable

I definitely can't disagree that it was a contributing factor for me too, but at the same time I wasn't as impacted as a lot of others were. I was lucky enough to still have my full time job, and for a good amount of that time I was actually busier than I was before because of it, and two years later when things were mostly back to normal I was still playing 2019 instead of Vanguard or Cold War, and I was initially really excited for Cold War, but still barely played it over 2019.
