Oh my gosh! This is one of those go to recipes that will make your tummy happy and your taste buds jump for joy! I've used it to top steaks drenched in gravy... alongside burgers ... pork tenderloins or just atop mashed potatoes! It's a winner ... any which way you chose to apply it! Nice! The way my wife cooks mushrooms is she puts them in a hot pan with a generous amount of butter and then keeps moving them around until all the water comes out of the mushrooms then when the water has cooked off she turns the heat down and allows the mushrooms to absorb and sizzle in the butter for a few minutes. I know that's a long sentence, but she's too busy for punctuation.
I've tried this recipe many times now and my wife isn't even too keen on mushrooms, however whenever I make this recipe she always say how this is her favourite way of eating them. I love mushrooms and I cannot believe how good this is. Such an easy recipe to follow and I know we will be eating this for years to come, so thank you.

Made this tonight with a porterhouse. Phenomenal. I used to always slice the shrooms. Keeping them whole makes a satisfying side rather then just a steak topping.

My grandmother's cook served a version of this .She just took. canned mushrooms. and sauted I butter with garlic salt and poured over toast.It was a quick and easy lunch and really good.Of course your version is much better and I can't wait to try it!
Yes... Canned mushrooms shouldn't even be a thing because they're so different from fresh that they almost entirely become something else. I hope you enjoy this recipe. 😊
I've made this a few times to go with a nice steak. One thing I've discovered is that if you are making a pan-seared steak, once you're done cooking the steak, remove it from the pan and while you let it rest you use the same pan to make the onions and mushrooms. I use a small amount of the broth to deglaze at the start and then follow the recipe as normal. Adds a nice deep flavor.

Shallots instead of Onion, add a little white wine vinegar (the cheap generic kind) and just a little lightly chopped tarragon. Let it sit for a couple of hours, then oven broil it with cheese like you've done. Love the beef broth addition. I'm about to get started on it right now. Thanks again! Bon Apetit!
