Thanks!! Yeah it ended up being a really fun birthday (and rather last minute planning ^^). I'll definitely think about going back for my birthday again next year, but spend a few more days there because 2 days was way too short !
Haha ! Merci Jordan ! 😉
Thank you man! It's fun but definitely takes some time to get used to! I'm still not great at it, but it makes me want to ski again soon and keep progressing! ^^
You ski better than me and I’m sure I’ve skied way more days than you have. Your parallel turns look great. I hope one to day I can do parallel turns like that and speak French half as good as you.
I mean skiing in Chamonix is great and you have to do it at least once in lifetime. But after that we always ski in Italy, it's a tad cheaper if you care about expenses
Thanks for the recommendation for the next time! Honestly I thought the prices were a bit high for such a short trip...but skiing in general is an expensive activity so I thought it was relatively reasonable. I'd say it's even less expensive than what I remember from skiing in California! I'll definitely try skiing in Italy someday! (or I hear it's fun and even less expensive in Bulgaria! ^^)
Awesome! How would you recommend a trip to Chamonix and Zermatt Matterhorn? Where to stay to hit both? Rent a car? What are the interesting day-trips for non ski days?
Hey thanks! I recommend staying in Chamonix town because you can easily walk to shops and restaurants. Having a car would be nice to get to different mountains, otherwise there are bus options but they aren't as comfortable when you have all of your gear and also take more time at all the stops. I was only there for a few days, so I didn't have any non ski days, but I'm sure there are some nice villages to visit in the area!
You're welcome! Yeah not too bad for a couple days! Swiss alps are sharing the same Alps mountain range, so not too far, it's just not easy to navigate through the mountains ...to get to the Swiss side, best to go through Geneva I reckon
Yeah I agree, in fact I'd say skiing in the US the last time I went was even more expensive than France! (it's only the toll roads in France that took a hit on my bank account! Luckily we were 4 in the car and could split the costs! ^^)
I live in Chamonix, i can tell you that hiring a car is NOT the most economical way to get here! There are plenty of cheap buses coaches (swiss tours/flix) at about 15 euro plus transfers for approx 40. And please takes these options, we have a serious pollution issue in chamonix. if you do bring your cars please consider not iddiling then to defost your windscreen every morning! get scrapping and stop us choking !
Salut !
Nice to see such a memorable birthday. I have been to Chamonix in the summer. Beautiful hiking and a fun active village .

Happy Birthday Dude. I have never Skied myself but it looks fun.

The slopes look empty. Were the lift lines busy at all?
Chamonix is for alpinists , there are tons of other ski stations .

thanks! not to crazy expensive', looks so nice', too'. the swiss alps is how far away? peace

what a great view...of your head.
LOL the camera zooms in way too much hahaha
Honestly, besides the $140 drive needed to get there from Paris, the cost is pretty comparable to skiing in America

Much cheaper than Vail Colorado
Was there in 2020 for 1 week, it was awesome!
Yes it's amazing there, hopefully I'll have a chance to go back this upcoming winter!
💪🏽

There is also a train that comes directly into Chamonix
