Hello my sister nurses! I'm a retired critical care RN. I have seen & done some interesting things these last 42 years. These ppl have my respect & my admiration. Thet are kind & compassionate when speaking about the victim or his family. Compassion & the ability to feel & show it is so important both in the jobs you ladies & I have done and in the jobs the heroes in this video do. I saw a documentary, might've been on Netflix, anyway was about a guy in LA who runs a decomp company. NOT a Spalding franchise. He was the most awful human being! The comments he made about the victims, his girlfriend, the ppl who worked for him, his competitors & everybody else he came in contact w/ were so unbelievably awful. He was a sociopath, I suspect & it broke my heart for the families of these ppl who had died as well as the dead themselves. He did not do his job w/ a loving heart. Having been a big Spalding fan, I was utterly shocked & so.angry that if I could've figured out who to complain to I would have! Anyhow, Peace ladies. Enjoy what you're doing & always lead w/ a compassionate & loving heart!

It must have been really horrible to be the first person to walk in and find the body. I couldn't do that job because I know I would throw up. I've smelled really bad human decomp before. I used to work a hospital as a transcriptionist for the pathology department. Our office was around the corner from the morgue. It was 90+ degrees and a person died at home and not found for a while. The medical examiner's office has a separate facility and the body was not supposed to be brought to our morgue. I will never forget taking a break and walking out of the office. The smell was the absolute worst. I applaud you all for being able to deal with it.

I run a home cleaning service and know pretty much what this entails. This is like cleaning homes except there is no property owner to guide you on what they want done. You have to go in wearing haz mat suits and you need very powerful cleaning products. Plus, you need to be able to handle seeing maggots, body tissues and flesh. Most of the stuff cleaned off needs to be disposed of in haz mat tanks. You can do it if you can handle the gory stuff. I would but I prefer socializing with my clients and coming home not having to worry that a maggot may have gotten into my stuff. Lots of work but I'm sure the money is good.

I have a suggestion for you on your clean ups, they sell a pop-up frame that holds trash bags up and open, mostly used for helping you on raked leaves, but this way someone doesnt have the risk of getting bodily fluids on them due to holding a bag open. Another suggestion would be to use a squeegee to get the mass of the fluid into locations where it's easier to pick up, perhaps with dust pans, that would help you when maggots are present, but would definitely speed your clean up process, so you can get to the point of disinfecting much quicker. Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    VL
