I swear, the Rocky movies are G O A T d'!!!!! Even Rock V and Rocky Balboa, which are considered the weakest of the franchise, are still good. It's a realistic story of a man living in the ghetto streets of Philadelphia, who then becomes a champion, loses friends and family along the way, and goes back to his roots in the streets of Philadelphia because he can no longer fight. Some athletes go back to being regular people because they're considered useless. But he still gets up and endures it. This edit and these movies hit all the more due to the resent passing of Carl Weathers. RIP Carl Weathers❤🙏🏻
There's a manga and anime series which predates Rocky called Ashita no Joe, or Tomorrow's Joe. While Rocky probably wasn't inspired by ANJ, they both have a lot of similarities. Rocky and the protagonist Joe, are both nobodies that eventually find a meaning to life in boxing. Sorta like Rocky, ANJ isn't a series which is trying to mainly focus on boxing. Rocky is mainly about Rocky, the protagonist. And ANJ is mainly about Joe. Both series are less about the sport, and are more about the people behind it, the boxers themselves. If you enjoyed the Rocky movies, than go ahead and check out ANJ. It's fucking phenomenal overall
