Graduated from the University of Utah. Mountain bike rides at least twice per day in Salt Lake City. Never got to bike in Moab. Too crowded back in the 1990s. I would love to do Moab now.
Like Steve, so many times I have said in Moab, "How the heck am I going to get up there?" But somehow the EMTB defied the laws of physics and never let me down.
Steve, thought that was you! I was riding Slickrock with my 6yo daughter the day you were filming. When we passed you, she said, “that man was nice” because of the big smile on your face!
Interesting to hear you mention the cigarette commercial while you were riding Dead Horse Pt. In the late 70's I flew the helicopter that carried the film crew for that commercial (can't remember the brand). Most of the shooting took place above the Schaffer trail which is a series of switch backs on a dirt road that drop off the top of Dead Horse Pt. to the White Rim Trail. Rode Slickrock on my Stump Jumper in the mid 80's when it was free and still get out there from time to time. Waiting on a new Cube 140 and will probably give it another try being only a 5 hr. drive. I'm 77 years old with three stints in my heart but thanks to E-bikes am still going strong. Have been enjoying your RUclips Chanel for some time keep up the good work.
Quit swearing, but probably my favorite EMBN excursion piece in quite some time. Loved France, Spain and Italy, but Moab, Utah is only 1000 miles from 98661. Hopefully, you got to bring your family and can spend a LOT of time in USA and explore all that our mountains have to offer. Have fun and stay well.
Steve you're a certified EMTB legend. Hope you have a blast on our side of the pond and get to ride as many epic places as possible. And of course share them with us.
Excellent job Steve. Any Colorado epic ride high altitude vast open space with miles of smiles. No E-bike yet, turned 61 in September and began saving for one, hopefully by retirement age in a couple years I'll have enough $$$.. Happy Trails..
As soon as I can ride an EMTB on Whole Enchilada and in Pisgah or Dupont forest, then I'll switch. The US is too far behind in their allowance of EMTB on federal trails.
@@NathanEide true that many federal parks aren't allowing emtbs, but it is legal to ride emtbs where acoustic MTBs are allowed. Fairly new law. Sedona is hostile to ebikes, many places are.
Having been riding Moab trails since the mid 90s, it was nice to finally see what an eMTB can show. I've re-discovered Moab since getting my Rail two years ago. But now it's all fun, all the time. I've discovered, as you have, that the best riding is on the 4x4 trails, and not the single track trails. "Double track, double the fun". I'm lucky enough to live in Denver (5 hours away from Moab), so I get to ride there at any time. In a few years I'll be retiring to Portugal and learning what Europe has to offer. But, for now, I'll keep riding the hell out of the Moab trails. Be well, stay safe and enjoy the ride.
Crazy to think it's been almost 20 years since my buddy and I rode (on conventional MTBs) Moab for the 1st and only time! We were crazy to do Slick Rock and Porcupine Rim Trail on the same day! WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK USING OUR TREK RAILS!⚡🚲 Clint The (USA) eBike Guy (x2)
Funny thing is it was our Republican department of interior secretary, that declassified electric mountain bikes several years ago. But we get a lot of resistance from the mountain bike community on most trails around Moab because they are the trail stewards claim ebikes deteriorate the trails more. Which just isn’t true. It’s how you ride the trails.
Wow! Love Moab! Going to plan to go there asap! Also great news on the rail! 750 w/h battery will finally be able to go on long rides! I have the levo with the 700 w/h battery and it is so disappointing when we have to go home early because of range anxiety! Thank you for making great videos for future destinations. You need to go to Peru as well and ride the Inca trail.

You can go with 625 w/h battery if you're in good shape and use only basic assistance 🙂
A few years ago, while rapidly dehydrating faster than I could drink water under the hot morning sun at Slickrock, a year away from ankle replacement surgery, and behind a friend who was always braking on the downhill bits just before the uphills, I was suddenly inspired: "Hey, what about those E-bikes?" I got a Levo SL a few weeks ago. Liked the transport weight, didn't want to get spoiled by too much power, wanted something less tank-like, and wanted a reliable network for repairs on my first E-bike. It's been great so far, and I try to keep it in Eco mode as much as possible. Orbea Rises were unicorns (suddenly a bunch have shown up in shops this past week!). I feel like I can climb pretty much everything with the motor and enough effort!
I also find myself using mostly the tour+ mode. If you have the legs to initially push the bike the "mind behind" the motor will quickly understand what you are trying to achieve and come to the rescue

It's definitely one of the spots that you bring both bikes, or rent. You can ride a couple of the famous mtb trails then take the eeb out for excursions. Sedona is even worse as there isn't much to ride that is ebike friendly at all.

I rode in 2019 the Porcupine backwards to the drop off. Only 1 person said something to me about shuttling to the top and riding it backwards. I acknowledged him, and kept going
Steve and team, did the powers at be at Moab allow you to ride the main MTB trails because you're both famous and special? I was there as an adult coach with my high school's MTB team for a high school MTB race. They made it very clear that eMTB's were NOT allowed on the more famous trails and loops -- the very loops you ride in this video. What the hell?!!! I'd like an explanation please... Did the stuffy Moab MTB purists make exceptions for you? I want to go back with my Trek Rail 7. Again, are Moab's famous single track trails open now to eMTB's???
Slick rock trail was originally a motorcycle trail that allowed MTB's on it and remains motorcycle friendly so of course ebikes are allowed on it. Amasa back trail is double track (jeep) trail so ebikes are also permitted. Very few places are you allowed to ride EMTB's on single track however Deadhorse state park is one that welcomes Ebikes. That's the straight story.
Disappointed, I thought it was an eMTB show but it seemed more like a Utah Moab tourism show, I would have loved to hear about the Trek Rail but I didn't even hear what model it was, it was as if Steve is sponsored by a different brand and didn't want to talk about Trek, yes the Moab was nice but it's supposed to be an eMTB show
Just went to Moab with my specialized levo LS comp. F*** Moab. Love your channel, but you got this wrong. Very few single-track trails are available except Jeep and dirt bike trails which I've ridden on my dirt bike. Not worth it. Never going back until they open it up.
Looks very impressive. Gee I'm surprised you are allowed to ride Emtbs there. Many places in Nth America seem to have jumped the gun and considered legal pedalecs " the work of the devil " 😈 but guns are Ok? What are they going to do as the Evolution of human thinking 🤔 sees Emtbs dominating sales. My guess is that they will demand super higher powered and speed electric bikes and ruin the access for all.🚵♂️🚫
Lots of emtb haters here sadly. And yes, we can carry and a lot of the times do...especially when females are attacked, sometimes killed, on trails (even in the city limits).

As below Mark.....
Hello, the Bosch engine is a real clunker. I would not pay thousands of euros for it.
I thought WHISTLER (British Columbia, CANADA) was the one!?...just ask any RUclipsr or Sam or Don or anyone from gmbn
Whistler for jump trails and wet and cold. Moab for the most fun techy trails ever.
Any particular reason you displayed the Moloch sign at the beginning? NOT kool! 👹
Disappointed, I thought it was an eMTB show but it seemed more like a Utah Moab tourism show, I would have loved to hear about the Trek Rail but I didn't even hear what model it was, it was as if Steve is sponsored by a different brand and didn't want to talk about Trek, yes the Moab was nice but it's supposed to be an eMTB show
Mate, I can’t believe you’ve stopped braking with your middle fingers. You’ve changed! Something about the ebike or wot? Why?
