It’s crazy they could just release the same shoe they made in 2008 and sell out in a week.

These companies don't care about weightlifting. Crossfit is where the money is, so we have been getting a lot of lightweight, breathable garbage in the last several years. Anta looks like a good shoe because it appears they reverse engineered the R2s, and I would love to see other companies do the same if they can't produce a novel engineering design that can hang.

The funny thing is that all of these "hybrid" weightlifting shoes are still 100% unusable for anything outside of lifting weights, it's not like making them out of a lightweight material is suddenly going to enable you to run a 5k in a stiff sole with 20cm heels

Like who are the shoes for? Crossfitters would get metcons if they want a shoe to run and lift in, regular gymgoers will just get the powerlifts since they are quite a lot cheaper. And us weightlifters, would of course rather have the classic adipower 1's or something similar atleast.

I've had a pair of Leistungs since 2016 and set my all-time best pull and squat in them. Later, the high heel (at least 1 inch I think) coupled with my (relatively) long femurs and excellent ankle mobility seemed to begin putting too much strain on my quad tendons (that could also have been my squat frequency though), and I've since switched to Nike Savaleos. These seem to have worked in my favour, and my squat feels quite balanced now. The Boa lace system is very handy, although it did eventually break (lifetime warranty though so no biggie), but the rest of the shoe seems very well made and durable.

I bought a pair of Do-Win shoes as my first weightlifting shoes. Only really use them for squats as my ankle mobility is shit. The width is nice for my wide feet but the sole is not quite flat. It curves upward and because it's quite rigid it forms a kind of pivot point where you can be pitched forward if your weight shifts forward at all. Ironically, Asics are a shoe I see getting worn out more than others. I've rarely seen anyone need to re-sole a weightlifting shoe, but Asics tend to need that fast. I wore Adipower 1s for about 6 years when they started getting a bit stretched and I stopped wearing them before I damaged them too much. I wore Leistung 2s for a couple of years but just didn't really like them. And now I've worn Legacy 2s for a couple of years and they're still amazing. And yeah they are useless if you're over size 10 because they don't make them bigger than that.

And the grip is still solid despite the wear, haven’t had any issue with slipping even in their used state. The Adipower 2 and 3s are closely based on the Leistung 2 and share many of the same issues. The first Leistungs seem better but I never tried those. The worst thing about the 2s is the turned up toes which feels awful to lift in. The fabric is far too stretchy. And the BOA tightens far too locally leaving you with red welts on the top of your foot and they're still too loose in the toes. And the laces they added after not having them at all on the 1s don't really do anything and are hard to get any leverage on because there are so few rungs. Overall, the Leistung 2s are my least favourite shoes of Legacy Lifter 2s, Adipower 1s, and Romaleos 2.
