I used the techniques you shared in your previous video, and they worked like a magic! I speak as someone who gets severe anxiety and just wants to run away when it comes to starting an IV. I feel like I finally get it now! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and for saving the needless pain of my patients!
that's such a lovely comment! thanks so much bethanie, makes all the work to make this channel worth it! all the best for all your future skills and practice :)
Ha! I thought I was the only one who was afflicted with this crippling anxiety over starting a simple IV. Especially since I’m in ‘anesthesia’ everyone just expects me to be amazing at this skill and truth is IM NOT! These videos have been incredibly helpful. Now I can’t wait to try them out and see if they help.
I’m there too, student paramedic nearing the end of my course. Should be slotting cannulas by now but get the occasional easy ACF. Every miss adds to my cannulation anxiety and pretty dread doing them. On my last couple of days of hospital placement to get as much practice as possible
Great series on IV cannulation. I'm a paramedic and have a chuckle when you talk about optimising the positioning of yourself and the patient to be as comfortable as possible to ensure the best chance of success. I try to remember that advice when I'm kneeling on a crusty mattress with an obtunded patient that's in some weird posture and I need to get IV access... it must be nice working in a dry, air conditioned and controlled environment 😅.... JK. Your videos are top notch and have been a great help to me and my colleagues.
These IVC videos are just amazing! I am a final year medical student in Australia who has developed a fear of IVCs because of all the failed past attempts but I have been watching your videos and will implement everything I have learnt when I start my anaesthetics rotation next week. I hope it goes well!
This channel is bad ass. I’m looking to become an anesthesiologist assistant in the United State (sort of like a CRNA but a nursing degree is not required). Does Australia utilize a care team model like in the US at all?
Dang right! Would rather have a natural childbirth than have multiple failed IV attempts! Going to tell these tips to other providers who try this and fail on me!

I've been doing iv's for 21 years. > 10,000 by conservative estimate. But I always love to learn a new tip/trick
The best IV cannulation videos I’ve seen on you tube! Well done. Best of luck to you
Wow, thank you!

These videos are great, any chance you could make a cannulation playlist? Would be a great teaching tool for me as a paramedic!
Great suggestion! just made a playlist :) enjoy and good luck!

I like starting IVs. I've started some while I was sleepworking. RN for over 35 years. Damn, I'm old.
Could you please do some videos on arterial line insertions as well?
I’ll definitely try! Just need patient and hospital approval...

this will be trickier to video unfortunately... but I follow the exact same principles.. I just make sure I have someone hold the arm down carefully..
Excellent tips 👌why do you always practice on the same guy 🤣
I told him it’s acupuncture 😂
