I pay your groom price. Why don’t we appreciate the grooms family too 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ make it make sense Plus bride price is used like a cuff If your husband is abusing you it’s impossible for you to go back home Cause He bought you
I said this very thing in an earlier comment. It's like all of these people in the comments want to pretend as if this is not the case. There's a reason it's called a price. You put a price on something that you buy, you buy objects, cattle, and slaves. In those cultures where there is a bride price, the bride is essentially a slave because she is a possession.
Emily's mother is looking at it from a feminist perspective. From that perspective, the woman is being viewed as an object who can be bought or sold. However, they are already married and this is a Cameroonian tradition, so its best to go with the flow & pay the bride price.
I would like to know, how difficult was it for Kobe to know how disrespectful his friends kept being to his wife. My husband is African, his friends knew better to even treat me like that. What happened to his friends being respectful? 💜
@@blueberrywonderless4998 Lol... well, once they finally start paying their own bills instead of asking Emily's dad for money (ya know, the guy who was supposed to retire but felt he couldn't because his spoiled cow of a daughter and bum son in law got pregnant AGAIN).. Most cultures have this. Before I got married, I also thought the same as Emily's mother, and how I didnt want my parents to "buy" me. During my engagement, I finally understood that it wasnt a "buying your daughter" deal. Because most parents will take it and give it to their daughter, for her own temporary financial stability after she has gotten married. Its for her to save and she has the right to chose who or what she wants to spend it on. Ofcourse, there are some parents who dont and they take it. But in this situation, she could just take it as a respectful gesture then give it to Emily. Not such a big deal.
I commend Kobe for standing up for his culture & his family. Emily’s mother is ignorant and close minded. I’m also proud of Emily for letting her husband lead, while adding her two cents to defend her family front. Good job guys! 👍🏽
In some African cultures. The bride price is also tied to the rights over the children . Because the husband pays the bride price … his side of the family has more say over the kids in some cultures.
Melicia, you and your mom are too cute! I love the height difference! You can tell she stands tall and strong and has transferred that onto you. Yay to strong confidant women!
Emily's mum is allowed to have her reservations, if this is something she isn't used to. Maybe she needs time to process it. Whatever happens she is allowed to question something she doesn't understand.
But what is Emily's mom believe..we in Africa have a culture and NOBODY and I mean NOBODY will change that...I feel she should have done her research before she gave Emily away to an African. She's pissing me OFF...
Emily's mom would have done some research about what traditional weddings are like in Africa. She sounds like she is not respecting Kobe's culture. As Africans if you are not traditionally married, you are not yet married. Period. Bride price, exchange of gifts and all.

Emily's mom just needs to honor the tradition HER daughter chose when she picked Kobe as her husband....and that's it, period!
C'mon Liz, don't let a man tells you that he doesn't love you 2 times 3×4×..…....
Emily's mother is looking at it from a feminist perspective. From that perspective, the woman is being viewed as an object who can be bought or sold. However, they are already married and this is a Cameroonian tradition, so its best to go with the flow & pay the bride price.
It's sexist but it's the man and his family suffering it more
I would like to know, how difficult was it for Kobe to know how disrespectful his friends kept being to his wife.
My husband is African, his friends knew better to even treat me like that. What happened to his friends being respectful? 💜
So we can all agree that Emily's mom's issue with the bridge price is just storyline padding because they ran out of drama right?
Can't believe someone would pay money for emily😮😮😮......
😂😂
Liz made herself look so weak!
She is👎
Rob is so sensitive about the term 'muscular' because he is on the down low, for sure!!
Yeah I understand how she feels.
Emily's dad warms my heart for researching, and going along with tradition.
I'm telling you now I can see it coming, I don't know what it is.. but I don't see Emily and Kobe lasting ever after.. I give it 5 more years.
I give it 6 months
@@blueberrywonderless4998 Lol... well, once they finally start paying their own bills instead of asking Emily's dad for money (ya know, the guy who was supposed to retire but felt he couldn't because his spoiled cow of a daughter and bum son in law got pregnant AGAIN).. LOL That's when the real test comes. I hope he cheats on her with the most beautiful, sexy, chocolate woman out there!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I can't STAND Emily! She acts like a teenager! Ughh!
I think they compliment eachother well tbh
@@DCGuava For now lol...
I can see them lasting while. They know how to support and compromise with each other. People always hating.
that's literally what the tradition is. dont try to pretend like it's just a show of appreciation. africans LITERALLY sell each other
Ed just loves his celebrity status. He likes being on the show. Liz, you'll be okay. I know you dont see it now, but you'll be happy in the end. Love yourself first. If you're not a priority in someone's life, it's time to move on. You deserve better.
Melicia you spoke 💯 and on point every time 👌🏼
Actually you are WRONG this custom DOES come from the premise of selling your daughter…. And it’s WRONG!
It's un appreciation for raising your daughter well in Africa
It’s a sign of appreciation & respect why don’t she understand
I'm happy Ed became self aware enough to end things. Liz needs therapy, Ed has emotional damaged her, not a joke.
That money could be used for them to move out or at least pat bills or savings for a new place...Emily's mom is so obtuse
So a bride price is basically a dowry
It’s like the father paying for the wedding! That’s the price he pays a 25000 wedding 💒 😂😂😂😂😂
She should educate herself for her grandchildren's sake.
Alexei and Loren are couples ultimate goal❤
My favorite couple
Emily's mum is allowed to have her reservations, if this is something she isn't used to. Maybe she needs time to process it. Whatever happens she is allowed to question something she doesn't understand.
In some cases the man pays a bride price I am American my African husband pay my parents and then they gave the money to me lol I got lucky both ways.
In some cases? It's in every case. The man and his family pay the woman's family.
I love this couple. They seem happy and have fun together. Hope all goes great for them and their family.
Emily is a brat, they should donate her.
To science.
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 you made my day with this one…
😂😂😂
But what is Emily's mom believe..we in Africa have a culture and NOBODY and I mean NOBODY will change that...I feel she should have done her research before she gave Emily away to an African. She's pissing me OFF...
It is Kobe’s tradition not Emilys tradition. Bride price should not come into play here because Emily is not an African woman.
Emily's mom would have done some research about what traditional weddings are like in Africa. She sounds like she is not respecting Kobe's culture.
As Africans if you are not traditionally married, you are not yet married. Period. Bride price, exchange of gifts and all.
They are considered legally married in Cameroon. The family is just not happy about it. But they are legally married
The mum & daughter really rub me the wrong way.
