Right?! I hadn't heard this song until it was included on their 2007 album "Long Road Out Of Eden." At the time, I think CMT(Country Music Television) was still showing videos during the day. I remember seeing it.
Randy and Bernie never got the credit they truly deserved. Good Lord, Bernie Leadon could play anything with strings on it...guitar, mandolin, pedal steel, auto harp, you name it. And Randy Meisner could hit notes that dogs couldn't even hear. His high falsetto could shatter glass 2 blocks away.
@@saradollins5142 They did not record it back then (in 1971) because they knew Souther intended to include it on his own self-titled debut album, which came out the same year as the Eagles' own debut release.
I agree. For me, the original Eagles were the best. There was something pure and inspired in their music--and they really delivered. Later incarnations of the band became more sophisticated, but the heart of the band, its greatest, simplest energy, came from the originals.
I agree this is Gold but that’s just gay. I still love the intro for the current one. That said.. I’m sorry. It truly is a brilliant song, and I love how you get to hear Frey’s voice and then Henley’s which gives an amazing transition to their songs. Love the Eagles.
@@AdyStark … and best of all, to hear Randy chiming in with some lead singing as well as his sweet high harmonies which, let’s face it, gave Eagles their characteristic sound.
@@jonnehayesjr.9299 … yes, they kind of lost that characteristic sound when first Bernie then Randy left. Great song! I was there on that concert (The Eagles played 11 songs), on 1973.03.09 Popgala Vliegermolen Voorburg, The Netherlands, It was the first performance from The Eagles outside America, their first tour in Europe and this concert was the first one from the European tour. They performed this evening for the First Time Ever "Tequila Sunrise" and "Outlaw Man". Very special concert! 2 days concert together with Rory Galagher, The Who, Rod Stewart and the Faces, Slade, Chi Coltrane, Ry Cooder, Colin Blunstone and Argent, wonderful to see them play!
WOW! You' re so lucky to have been there! I love this song as well as Outlaw Man. Well, I pretty much love all their songs and I play them every day. One of the greatest band ever!
When I watch an old disintegrating video like this, it takes me back to a time that is long gone and will never come back. But how glorious was it?!!! 🎉🤩🥳💃
Randy sounds great on this , as does Bernie's signature guitar sounds. I wish this HAD been on an Eagles album , would have fit great in On The Border.
It sounds the same when they recorded it again in 2006. They never changed but perhaps you left them behind. Long Road out of Eden is one of the greatest albums of the past 2 decades.

I've heard of bands debuting songs live before putting them on an album, but I think this one must hold the record between those two states: FORTY-FOUR YEARS. ^_^
I love this version better than the version they did in there later days this live version of them when they are young and still have misner and Bernie is Gold!
Randy is so sexy singing a little bit raw, he could sing what he wants.!.Nice to see him as a leadsinger in the middle!!. Bernie was a good guitarplayer.!

This must be just in the beginning. Bernie is the spokesman. He was the most experienced of them, coming from Dillard and Clarke, and Flying Burrito Brothers. Later on Glenn Frey took this role. Great to see and hear them!
I think adding Eagles to the heading would up the views considerably for this clip. From what Bernie says at the start, all was well and the inmates were getting along fine in the Asylum.........for the time being- at least!
They were a much better band in these days and with Felder...now they have turned into exactly what they were accused of being for years...glossy corporate rock with no soul
