Sad to see the Sea Life Centre like this. Visited the centre in the 90s and early 2000s and it was an interesting place to take the family, shame it ended like this as the staff did a lot of good work caring for the seals and promoting marine conservation.
i just ramdemly found this video, sad seeing it like that use to go there all the time when i was a kid, we use to go and see my cuz who was a diver all his life in oban he use to take us there he also gave them a huge lobster he got when diving one time that lived in one off the tanks in the corner with stingrays you could touch them as it was all open!! the tank outside you seen was indead where the seals use to be as you could see them through the windows inside the building as well, although they were never left in the tank all the time.
Thanks Colin, next time I pass the statue I'll give your Grandad a salute. The Sea Life Centre shut in Nov 1st 2018. The two big outside water tanks for seals, wooden fenced area out was otters. Big round tank was full of flat fish, skate, dog fish, tope etc. Big acrylic cylinder tank had a great spider crab inside it. If you're ever up this way again, maybe I could take you to some abandoned places for your content ✌🏻
Great to hear about your connection to the Commando Memorial through your grandad Colin. The Corp has a very proud history and we all looked upon each other as brothers (and sister now that we have the ladies in the band) and will always look out for each other, as no doubt your grandad would have told you. It's just a shame that as the years pass by, the Corp and the brotherhood is getting smaller and smaller, as even when I served in the 70's there were a couple more Commando units than there is today.
I salute your grandfather and all veterans. Wonderful explore, but Colin, please do yourself a favor and don't investigate freezers or refrigerators. Be safe and give Lilly a treat for me. Cheers from the states 👊👍🤙
The statue of your Grandad was beautiful and what a piece of enduring history for your family. The Sealife Centre is in such a beautiful area. Such a shame that is left like this. Lily is such a cute little dog and it is nice to see her on your explores. It is good to see how careful you are of her. It wouldn't be one of your explores if you didn't give someone a jump scare. You evil man. LOL Or opening a dead freezer. Will you never learn that it never goes well. Loved this video. Well done as always.
Last I visited the commando monument was in 2010, I love this part of Scotland! I always make a point of going, I got goose gogs when you mentioned you grandad. Myself and my ex wife visited the sealife centre in 2005 with our son who was one. Sad to see it like this! An excellent vlog as always!
If you search for Photos of The Scottish SEA LIFE Sanctuary - there's a gallery of photos to show what it looked like back in the day it was open. Wonderful and touching about your granddad as the model for the sculpture!
That's amazing about your grandfather. I thank him for his service. Pity about this place. Bet it was really cool when it was open. Please don't open the fridge or freezers. That was bloody disgusting that was. Eww! Lovely Lily. ❤😮😊
Hello Colin! Great video and when Sammie opened the freezer I was laughing so hard cause I had a feeling it was going to stink 😊😂. Then poor you had to go close it. Glad this is not a smellavision? 😂😂 Thanks for taking us along! Take care. Oh and thank you for the bit on your grandfather. What an awesome story!😊
Aww Colin thank you so much for this explore especially about your granddad it was sad to see you emotional you must be so proud ❤ funny when you and Sammie opened that freezer god knows what you both have breathed in hahahaha stay safe colin x
That is so cool about your Granddad posing for the monument Colin. Very cool. Another great explore. Sad indeed that it had to close. I was laughing out loud at the freezer bit! You are right about the beauty of Scotland.... stunning scenery! Enjoy your visit.
What a lovely place.Wonderful you got to see the statue in person.Such a great story about your Grandfather Did you get to meet him?The views are awesome, wonder why and when they closed.👍❤️🇺🇸
The link with the statue was a nice touch. Thank you for sharing that. I was going to have a fish pie later, but your reactions on opening the freezer have put me off.
I loved seeing your late Grandad what a beautiful statue you can go and see anytime, as for the scenery near the sea Life is a wow, its a shame thing's have to come to a end but who knows why it had to close, thank you sharing this loved it ❤️ 🙏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for sharing this interesting place🦭🐙 and showing the beautiful landscape! I could imagine the childrens excitement at the place. I saw that someone wrote that it shut down in 2018; I thaught that it maybe shut down due to the coronavirus, but it maybe was later? Many thanks for sharing from Sweden🇸🇪
Nice to meet you. I came here because your video was introduced on RUclips in Japan. This is a video of a red ball rolling in an abandoned hospital you shot in September 2021. I subscribed to your channel this time.
We visited the sea life centre on a few occasions it was famous for Isla and Lewis the otters who got married , amazing place and you over looked the Loch when having a meal , such a shame . Beautiful monument ❤❤ and a huge thank you to your Grandfather .
I visited here about 10 years ago, when on holiday in Oban. I am not 100% but I'm sure the big pool area outside had the Seals in it. I sure I remember standing behind the glass next to the seats and seeing them swimming around.
Such a shame places like this fade awy. Good explore though. The gagging was the highlight, nothing like a freezer full of gone off fish to end a trip. So cool you got to visit your Grandfathers Statue.... that was special. Happy travels.
A big salute to your Grandfather. A really poignant opening to this video. And I really admire how respectful you were at this location. But what is it with opening freezers? It seems to be a regular thing on your channel. I salute you for that. And the spider moment was really funny 😂
Well worth being proud of a Commando Grandfather. I visited this a few years ago and stayed in the nearby Commando hotel with attached museum. Seeing what these men gave is very moving, hard as nails and absolutely committed.
An interesting video. I live near the centre and pass by regularly. It's sad to see it in that state when weve had such great days there with our children and grandchildren. It's a beautiful area to live l feel blessed. How proud you must be of your grandfather, l was interested to hear your story as l first visited with my dad who took me to see it many years ago. I've taken lots of photos of it in all seasons. It's a powerful monument, and l salute your grandfather. I will feel l know him when l next visit. Thank you, and to Sammy and dear wee Lily.......Alioban
Wonderful beginning to your video. How honored you must feel to see that statue of your Grandfather. As for the tanks you were wondering about, I think they probably would have held live fish to feed to the seals and penguins. Thanks for another great treat.
Aw, could tell how proud you are of your Grandad, how lovely. Video is good too, something a bit different, I liked it. Sending a big tummy tickle to Lily, lol. 💕
First, Lily is ADORABLE and I’m sure everyone else knows this too….she absolutely did NOT believe you! She clearly knows you go nowhere without her as she knows being your companion is HER job and she is quite dedicated!
All of the little tanks near the freezer looked like part of the filter system for all the tanks that contained animals.. and the old live rock and corals are part of it too, great video. Such a shame its closed down x
Loved this explore!. So many places end up like this, such a shame. Like Living coast in Torquay that closed down around in Lockdown time. They had seals, penguins, all kinds of aquarium life all gone now. Would love to see whats left of it now. I hope we get some more of these kind of places from you! And more of Lily!!
Wow...awesome about you connection to the commandos memorial. I visited it and took loads of photos in 2015. Great vlogs and please wear a mask for your health sake 😊
Amazing story about your grandad and the statue, thanks for sharing that. Great explore, such a shame places like this have to close down, I agree on tourist attractions being eerie, once full of laughter, now silent.
If it's anything like the Sealife centre in Norfolk the seals only live there temporarily, theyre often injured rescues that get rehabilitation then released back into the wild. Great explore, and thanks to your Grandad for his Services to both freedom and art 😁
Ah man I knew this well….sad it’s been left like that. Spean Bridge v special and always stopped here mate on way up to Skye for past many many years….amazing mate on ya grandad, seen and stopped so many times…. ❤. It’s a drive I’ve always loved….
Really enjoyed today's Post Colin and it was funny when you scared your mate with the spider and omg I was laughing when you opened the freezer and you nearly being sick 😂😂😂😂, and i always think when you are waking around these places or a house or something that you are going to walk into a room and someone is stood staring at you 😅😅😅
That really is Fantastic information about your grandfather!! I'm so pleased for you that you got to finally see the statue 😊 What Stunning views there, absolutely breathtaking, but in a considerably pleasanter way than that freezer 😂😂😂 Really loved your Indignantion with the machine over weighing you 😂😂😂 and Lily's sweet little face when you said that she wasn't allowed in 😮😂😂 Really wonderful explore video, thank you 😊
Brilliant vid again mate amazing history on your grandad a true veteran and legend mate and Lilly's face when you said she had to stay there ahhh she was like nooo I wanna explore too lol ✌👌
Hi Another great video,I really enjoyed this one being part Scottish and holiday alot in Scotland.I have visited that statue many times and found your connection very touching. Excellent video mate, I Slate to your grandfather, I had a similar story to you, everytime I speak about it, it makes me cry, stay safe and keep up the good work
I could smell that freezer through the screen 😂. I spent a fortnight up at Barcaldine in the late nineties doing my chainsaw course , absolutely beautiful area.
We used to take our boys there at least twice every summer and usually one every other school/nursery holiday too. It was a great place. Our eldest was obsessed with animals (25 and a soldier now). First of all absolute respect for your grandad and all veterans and 2nd im amazed at how much stuff is left behind the monetary value alone is mind boggling even if they didn't want it all they could have donated an awful amount of it quite upsetting really apart from all that VERY INTERESTING VIDEO
Great great video boys cuz I don't have other social media outlets I only get to see on here puts the faith back into buying cars look forward to the next one as always 👍
I did say to my grand kids we will go there as they love that type of place . But i will have to tell them sorry it is long gone. I still have a stone that i pick up from the beach . As a keep sake of that place in Scotland. Again so sad to see it has gone that way.

This is really sad, I visited with my wife and children a couple of times when holidaying in the Highlands (the last being 2018). Horrible to see it this way, as it was in such a lovely location and it was fantastic day out.
Oh how wonderful for you, know your grandad fought well and helped us all. Thankyou soldier. Rip xx
I do love Lilly so much
Sad to see the Sea Life Centre like this. Visited the centre in the 90s and early 2000s and it was an interesting place to take the family, shame it ended like this as the staff did a lot of good work caring for the seals and promoting marine conservation.
Lilly is my new favourite RUclips dog. OMG 😍. She reminds me of my first dog Annie. Great work 👍💙
❤ beautiful people beautiful channel ❤

Sadly he died when I was two but at least I got the chance to meet him 🥰
I work for Sea Life in Australia, and it's wild to me that so much was abandoned. I recognise some signs and merchandise we still use.
I work in the Loch Lomond one 😊
Sad to see a place like that no longer in use.
Another good video, lovely tribute to your grandad. You did make me laugh when you open the freezer😂 😂😂😂
The link with the statue was a nice touch. Thank you for sharing that. I was going to have a fish pie later, but your reactions on opening the freezer have put me off.
Im Scottish and live in Central Scotland, im so proud of your grandad! It must feel such an honour to have him as a tribute for all time. ❤🏴

Oh Wow that is so interesting your grandfather has a statue and it is wonderful that you shared him and part of his life (history) with us.
Thank you
Scotland is my happy place, it’s so beautiful. I hope somebody buys the sea life place and makes it into something else.
Good video… strange seeing this cause I’ve been to it a few times over the years so full of live and always busy.. eerie feeling watching this.

I remember visiting the site before it became a Sealife centre and it is sad to see how dilapidated it is looking at some of the rubbish you showed someone is around the large clear water bottle and the cans in the bin are in to good a condition.

Hi Colin, Sammy & Lily. Hope your all doing good.
That was one incredible video. I loved the outside views too.

I could smell that freezer through the screen 😂.
I spent a fortnight up at Barcaldine in the late nineties doing my chainsaw course , absolutely beautiful area.
this was a different explore...loved it! The scenery on your drive was beautiful.
Awesome explore. Love the opening with the insight into your Granddad at the monument and also playing around with the hanging spider toy.
What a great start to the video about your Grandad ❤.
Must have been a terrible smell Colin 😮fish rotten in the chest freezer ,,great statue for your grandad Colin awesome ❤️

This is really sad, I visited with my wife and children a couple of times when holidaying in the Highlands (the last being 2018). Horrible to see it this way, as it was in such a lovely location and it was fantastic day out.
