Good video. I've just retired here with my wife and everything you say is true and more. Workmen next door found a badly injured goat which we managed to get to a rescue centre and ended up with a rescue dog into the bargain (Toby, and we love him). Relaxed and civilised is the mode of life in the village where we live. We decided to bring over two cars and a motorcycle as well but then discovered Spanish Canarian bureaucracy. However, it's very hard to find anything here that's as bad as what is normal in the UK. A few comments on the list 1. Climate. This year was a very hot August, but even neighbours said it was unusual. End of October saw a big storm and now everything is a lot greener. But even when the weather seems harsh, it will still be sunny later on. 2. Cost of living. You forgot to mention the lack of heating bills. 3. Landscape. I love it just before sunset when the light is magical. Also, it's the only place I know where you can see so far. And then there's the fauna, right now we have the Hoopoes at their maximum and you are not too far from a goat anywhere. 4. Lifestyle. Throw away 75% of your UK wardrobe and get used to showing off your legs. You'll also eat healthier here. 5. People. Probably the best bit. There are numerous festivals from mid September to mid October and we went to as many as we could. Very good atmosphere and at one we went to the local teanagers served food to their elders. At the kite festival recently the small children could draw pictures on paper kites and fly them. I'm even starting to get used to Corralejo. Did you know it has an italian quarter with some excellent Gelaterias?
That's a coincidence, our second rescue dog was called Toby (now Jenson). Bureaucracy is definitely on the, albeit, small, list of negatives. Lack of heating bills would be a good one. Fuerte is quickly becoming one big Italian quarter with the Italian government grants to make them leave Italy ;-) Thanks for watching and your comprehensive comment!
We moved from Sweden to Tenerife 20 years ago, learned the language and became Spanish citizens. The language opens all doors. Next month we will visit Fuerteventura again with our local Spanish senior club. We have visited all the Canarian Islands. Great to live in Paradise!
Well done Herman. I must admit that whilst my Spanish is getting better I do struggle to speak it. My brain is wired for solving problems not remembering things such as words. My wife is the other way, she remembers words immediately but is not good at things like maths. As much as I love Fuerteventura it is not Paradise. Ask the thousands of abused dogs if they agree.
@@JPinFuerteventura Hola JP, your videos are very instructive, thank you! Maybe I will see you in La Oliva on the 28 of October? - excursion to the north? We have two dogs ”from the street”, here is Urax: ruclips.net/video/7QOe00CI3CQ/видео.html
I visited Fuerteventura for the first time in my life last month (January 2017) and I really liked it. Lovely weather, nice beaches and not too developed like other islands. My friend moved out there 7 years ago and I must say I'm tempted to relocate and find a job there. I speak fluent Spanish so I think I'll have an advantage.
Thank You. Best holiday of my life was here. I met a beautiful Spanish lady two days into my two week holiday in 2004 and will never forget the time we spent together. (On that note, you forgot to mention the naturist beaches, incidentally) ...I may retire to this fantastic place.
That was lucky then and no wonder you won't forget it. Well although we came here on holiday because of the beaches, somehow we never seem to get to them any more. We keep saying we must start going again but that is as far as it goes. Well, retiring here is certainly not a bad idea that's for sure. Thanks for watching.
I have just booked a 4 week holiday over xmas and came accross this very interesting video. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your experiences and answering questions.
I hope you have a great time. Christmas is different here as the Spanish don't make a big thing of Christmas Day but have their big celebration on 3 Kings Day.
Hi JP, great video, we have spent the last 10 years having holidays in Fuerteventura and fingers crossed in a few years time we shall have a place of our own there ready for early retirement, all the best, Mark 😎👍
+Mark Roberts That is pretty much the chain of events we followed. Early retirement is deginately the way to go. I only wish I had done it 40 years earlier and missed out the working phase altogether. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I've been to Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. I'm now going to Fuerteventura (Caleta de Fuste) in August. I cant wait. Then I will have been to all 4 main Canary islands.
Fantastic informative video, I fell in Love with this island back in December I'm really considering living there now however I have a cat & he must come with me. I found the island to be beautiful a real scenic place the roads so clear to and the locals go out there way to help, as for the extortionate council back here sounds like the cost of living is very welcome, I'm learning kitesurfing so I think the island would be good for me, and oh the weather 🌞 yes please lol x👍
+Creative Films : It is certainly cheaper to live here than the UK, and other northern European countries, for the most part. My heating bills are certainly low - I think the gas bottle we have in our one gas fire is about half full now after two winters so we have used just over 12€ worth. Many people bring their animals with them and there are some specialist firms which will bring them by road and ferry, if flying isn't an option. I don't kitesurf but my niece's partner is a champion kitesurfer and he enjoyed his recent trip out here so I guess it must be good. Thanks for watching and your comments.
Great video! I'm going there in February on vacation. Last year I went to Gran Canaria. I love the islands there. You're very scary for moving there, as I don't care for the UK either. (as I'm from the USA)
+JP in Fuerteventura Goodmorning jp. ok.i like watching youre videos.Im living in The Netherland, and the weather is here almost the same as in England! This year we stay home, because of some reasons. But im all ready miss fuerteventura.Normaly we go the last of august to jandia. This year we must miss fuerteventura. But next year we go again☺ witch town are you living in fuerteventura? hihi.i like to have contact with somebody in fuerteventura. thank you for alsoo writing back! greatings from The Netherlands.

I totally agree. I've been in Fuertaventura for some time and it's amazing. Holidays in Fuerteventura is a great way to unwind. Hope I will be able to stay here in the future for good ;)
Great video, my girlfriend and I have just booked up to go in September. We went to Tenerife last year and loved it so we're really looking forward to seeing your island.
@@JPinFuerteventura Got any local tips for good waves? I'm a bodyboarder and I plan on chasing the waves. I figure being there for 3 weeks I should find some good waves. I'm gonna hit up El Fronton on Gran Canaria for sure but I know there are lots of spots that locals get to know. I know you don't surf but any info helps a lot. Thanks man...
Thanks lots mate , great one , please keep doing more , I been twice in lanzarote once was when I’m 22 and last visit was two years ago when I was 38 years old ! I felt many changes there really , but maybe you write us later what things u don’t like about it there ?
Hi Ameer, I have been thinking of doing a "things I don't like about Fuerteventura" video, even though it will upset some who can see nothing wrong. Thanks for watching.
nice video...I'm really contemplating moving from dublin to fuerteventura as like you I'm sick of the weather and crowded city....thanks for video take care
It certainly isn't easy, particularly without speaking Spanish. Technically I am forced unemployed (thanks USA), rather than being retired, but have just had to accept that, particularly at 62, I have zero chance of getting a job. I have to get by on what I have. Fortunately it is generally a cheap place to live. Thanks for watching and I hope you manage to live here one day.
I am enjoying watching your videos. Me and my missus are going on holiday to Costa Calma this coming Saturday for a week . I can't wait . All the best. Mike
Hi. Well no matter what the weather is like in February here it will be better than the UK. I hope you like it too - it is a place you either love or hate. Thanks for watching and your comment.
Thank you for posting this awesome video, if I didn't live in sunny California I would definitely like to live here. Will be visiting for kiteboarding. Thumbs up for sure! Thx!
Kiteboarding is getting bigger and bigger here every year. I have to say, having visited California a number of times, the climate is pretty similar here. Thanks for watching.
Great videos JP really enjoyable. The Wife and I have just come back from Fuerteventura ( Our 5th visit in 15 months ) so we really like it :) we usually stay in Caleta De Fuste although this time we did venture down to Morro Jable.....Great place and wonderful videos ! :)
5 visits in 15 months - that's dedication. Perhaps try the north on your next visit - Corralejo or El Cotillo (our favourite place). Thanks for watching Sean.
Hi JP. Nice videos and a good promotion for our favourite canary island. Two times a year we spend our holidays in La Oliva in one of Pedro Carrenos renovated antiquely canary houses. Everybody knows Fuerteventura, but nobody knows La Oliva ;-) Maybe we can meet eventually , drink some coffee and share some tips. Enjoy your stay ( and sorry for my bad english ;-))) Hasta luego, Mike and Oxana
Hi Mike. Thank you for the nice comment. Well as we live in La Oliva we certainly know it. Happy to meet for a coffee next time you are here. Just send me a message via my Facebook page, which I note you have just "liked". Your English is very good!
Thank you Sir for this video. I enjoyed watching it. I feel now like I just want to jump on the plane and pay you a visit :) I have been to Fuerteventura before and I genuinely share your passion
i came back from a week in Fuertaventura a couple of days ago it was my first time and we stayed as Coleta Campo De Golf in a friends family Villa it was amazing and definatley want to go back again. we also visited Corralejo it the north of the island. the weather was sunny and around 21-23 degrees. definately recommend it to anyone. it is more of an adult holiday place though limited things for children to do.
I am glad you had a good time. In my day, as a child, there was nothing for us to do but be on a beach but it didn't matter to us as we spent hours entertaining ourselves. Unfortunately children seem to need their entertainment laid on these days which is sad. Thanks very much for watching and your comment.
I'm desperate to give up my middle management job to move to the canary islands. Just for the climate. We've had two decent summers back to back in the uk. 2018 didnt rain for 5 weeks and 2019 we have temperatures up to 32°C which was great but as you know we dont have air con as standard in the uk. The winters I suffer so bad from November to march. Aches, pains difficult to get up at 4:30am when it's dark. Commenting 2 hours each way in the rain. We had a week in gran canaria in November, The day I flew out of east Midlands, my town flooded. The sun was amazing on my bones and back. My mood was instantly better for the entire week. My son and I are looking in to leaving wet and gret Nottingham behind Also as you mention the cost of living. My son works 40 hours a weeks and barely covers his rent and council tax and public transport. My main reason to move out there would be the climate, My sons would be cost of living, The beaches are just a welcome bonus. Your videos are very informative.
Ah middle management. I left middle management 30 years ago to start my own business. The endless meetings and the final straw that broke the camel's back was a meeting to discuss the agenda for another meeting! It is a lovely climate here and SAD is unknown as even at the end of January we still have almost 10 hours of daylight. I don't even want to imagine getting up at 4:30 whether it is dark or not. We don't have air con either as we simply don't have enough really hot days (or nights) to justify it. Just a great steady climate all year. As I say, we only have two seasons really - summer and spring. I hope you manage to get here Kerry.
Hope to retire to Fuerteventura eventually, my favourite place and , hopefully, will be on holiday next year (2021) . Usually go to Caleta de Fuste but visiting Correlejo , thanks for the video .
Hola JP. I found your site today:) I was interested to hear your remarks about people with arthritis suffering less. I'm looking to relocate to a sunny destination in Europe and am just back from a trip to Mallorca. It was cold and wet and my hands did not appreciate the experience. I have heard that the barometric pressure in the Canaries is pretty constant, which apparently is much kinder to your joints. I think a trip to the Canaries needs to be planned :)
fuerteventura is my island. im loving it there. i,ve been 6 times in jandia en one time in corralejo. i fell in love .💗 its so nice and quit there. fuerteventura means (hard wind).
Good video, considering I've never been there, I found this video one of the better reviews on a potential holiday destination. You should visit more places and do reviews as you seem to be a natural.
Great videos. A place I would seriously consider relocating too, I think we would have a lot to offer by doing so. The U.K. is in rapid decay and it’s becoming unimaginably difficult to have a decent and dignified life.
Hi JP, Thank you for taking the time and making the videos I am starting to enjoy them. May I ask you how much would a married couple be able to live on comfortably ( Not Scrimping ) Maybe eating out 2/3 times a week and not taking into account rent as we plan to buy a villa or an apartment. Basically everything except the mortgage payment. Thans
Oh my god, thank you! I am seriously considering buying a small piece of land inlands and install a ' tiny house'/prefab house on it; it does not require any plumbing and it runs on solar panels. It would be a great escape. How is the permit milieu in Fuerteventura? Is it difficult do get things done in terms of building/camping? I have been searching online and notice land is not too expensive, though quite remote. I just wonder how easy my plan would be.
Hi Don. Thanks for watching. I am no expert on planning restrictions here but I understand that there are ways to build some kind of house on rural land, for example, by planting a certain number trees.

Thumbs up ere' JP, enjoyed that - lots of information, many thanks for sharing and you have a new subscriber :-)
Hi JP, Just watched your video with my mam, she says its very interesting , she asks what job you had in the UK, where did you live and where is your home now? Good luck to you John
Hi John. I ran my own company for 25 years and lived in Northamptonshire. We live in La Oliva in the north of the island. Thank you Mum for watching and the comments.
Hi JP, you've been very good to reply to my queries lately & I really appreciate that. Just one fundamental question for you, which we really agonised over during our last holiday in July 2018 ... whilst in the UK we get fed up of the rain and cold ..... but when living in Fuerte, do you ever want to escape from the wind? We felt it was really relentless during our holiday this year, getting sand blasted every time we tried to settle on the beach, to the point that we started to question whether this really was the place we really wanted to live. Hopefully the 'average' weather is better? Cheers, Alistair
Well Fuerte is a pretty windy island for much of the year. Generally less so in late summer. I don't notice it that much now, particularly as we hardly ever go to the beach any more, which is odd as the beaches were a big part of coming here. It's a bit like the only time my relatives in Brighton ever went to the seafront was when we stayed with them when I was a kid. The wind does keep it cooler in summer.
@@JPinFuerteventura Thanks JP! ... as we head into Winter here in Scotland, I wish I was back in Fuerte right now! I'd cope better with the wind and the sun than the cold, rain and wind that we get here for the next 6 months!
We just shot some vids on the island during a holidays, we loved it, such a great place. This crazy blues sky and this beautiful landscapes. Man, I envy you! I´d say, a pretty smart life decision moving there! Awesome! And yeah, great channel, just gotta sub, I guess. :)
I am glad you enjoyed the island and that you came recently. If you had been here in April and May then you would have had crazy grey skies! ;-) It isn't a bad place to live. Will you be uploading the footage to your channel? Thanks for watching.
Not a bad place to live is one way putting it :) One out of four videos is already up, but since I am doing tutorials on card magic the landscape is only background, but a very beautiful one of course :)
Hi jp. We love all your videos because of the content and Me and my girl are heading to corralejo in 3 weeks time. We hope to see the beautiful sites and experiences you have shown us. We might bump into you if your lucky 🤭. Please continue with your vids they ate very interesting and informative. Thanks.
Well the weather will be good in July. I brought my Canadian Uncle and Aunt (from Vancouver Island) here for a week a few years ago and they really enjoyed it. They had lived in Arizona for a few years and I described Fuerteventura to them as Arizona-by-the-Sea which they had to agree with. Thanks for watching and the comments
Arizona doesn't have beaches and that's a major plus with the Canary Islands as far I am concerned. Also, Fuerteventura seems to be flatter than Tenerife and Gran Canaria which we just visited. Am I right?
Sorry Maria. I didn't get a notification that you had made another comment so I have just seen it. Tenerife and Gran Canaria certainly have higher mountains than Fuerteventura. Mount Tiede in Tenerife is actually Spain's highest mountain. Thanks for commenting.
Funnily enough, the first time I brought Sue here, about 20 years ago, she thought I had brought her to the moon. It is pretty barren but it does have a beauty of its own. It gets greener during the winter after we have rain. Thanks for watching.
Hi JP, thank you very much for your quick reply. Just a queqtion : if you could choose between February and April for a first visit of the island, which month would you choose ?Best regardsMarie ange FRANCE
Well the weather would be more likely to be at its best in April but on the other hand it will definitely be much nicer than northern France in February!
Great video, I really enjoyed it. I am looking at moving to the Canary Islands (thought not being from the EU it is a lot harder). It just looks like a dream. I grew up in Hawaii which is certainly a paradise nature wise, but to be honest, the cost of living is now insane and unmanageable, crime is way up, pay is low and good jobs hard to find, not to mention the lack of affordable healthcare or education which is just a problem in the U.S. in general. Things look great there. Keep living the good life! :D
Not being from within the EU does make it more difficult to live and work here but I guess that is only fair as it isn't easy for EU citizens to live and work in the US either. It can be done though as I know someone from Hawaii who now lives here. I was in Hawaii 40 years ago! Thanks for watching and I hope you manage to get here.
Thanks JP, I appreciate it. I'll give it the old college try, at the very least I might spend some time exploring and see if I can do some English teaching (my current job) while there on my 90 day visa, though I'll probably spend all my time at the beach or hiking, like you I don't drink or smoke and am not into football, so there is always nature! :D Keep the videos coming, enjoying them all.
Hello John, followed your vlogs for several years now. I know the Island quite well, in fact back there next Saturday. You say in your vlogs you don't drink alcohol. I think you said you gave up because you didn't care much for the Spanish/Canarian brew. Just wondering if you would drink British style Beers if they were more widely available on the Island?
As you say, I don't drink. I haven't for 6 years and stopped for 9 years back in the 90s too. This is partly because the beer is awful but also that I don't really like alcohol that much (and after 10 years of policing, what it does to some people). I also hate hangovers, not that I drank enough to get one very often but when I did the next day was a complete waste of life. If you could get good British draught real ale then I might have the odd one now and again. Thanks for watching Ian.
I was still running my UK business when we moved here. I was able to run it via the internet. I'm still not actually retired though - it is more like forced unemployment until I get my UK state pension later this year. We live in the north of the island. Thanks for watching Philip.
Did you take a Caterham 7 with you to Fuerteventura ? (as depicted in the background of this video) Had one for 18 years.Loads of fun. Roads there are smooth as a billard table and twisty too in places, ideal for a good BLAT
Hi Kevin. No I didn't bring one here. I actually never drove one on the road. I raced them for 10 seasons though, finally winning the championship in 2011 and retiring at the top before moving here 18 months later. There are some thrills and spills from 4 minutes 51 in this video - ruclips.net/video/Q_P8ZE4dQGU/видео.html
Do you take the ferry over, to explore the other Canary Islands? Id like to climb La Teide on Tenerife, walk in La Gomera and look at the stars through the telescopes on La Palma.
It was our intention to do some island hopping, particularly as we get 75% resident's discount on inter-island ferries and flights, but with the dogs it is not so easy to go away. We have been over to Lanzarote twice on the ferry. Thanks for watching Liam.
Hi We have been coming for long trips for a few years to get away from the UK winter, and echo everything you say about Fuerteventura. I noticed on your video you visited the rim of a volcano', looking into the caldera from a safe platform. I would love to see this, and wondered if you would reveal where this is? Thank you Keith
Hi Keith. Thanks for watching. The volcano is outside Lajares. You turn off the Lajares roundabout by the football ground towards Majanicho. You park on the right literally at the end of Lajares where you will see some footpath signs. You follow the path along the front of the hills (Camino Calderos on the map) all the way to the end and around the corner (left) and you will see the footpath climbing up the side of the volcano to the viewing platform. Great views from there and make sure you take an apple or something to feed the very friendly ground squirrels up there. Map here - www.google.es/maps/@28.6951748,-13.9275687,1989m/data=!3m1!1e3
The weather is naturally a little less predicable in the winter, so you may have a few rainy days, however you would be very unlucky if the majority of days were not beach days. There is little difference between the norh and the south. One thing for sure, in that 2 week period, on the worst day here it will still be better than the best day in the UK.
I should be there on the 28 of April but I think it will be cancelled 😞 im gutted, if the situation changes please leave a post you have been most informative regards Chris Nicholson
It will definitely be cancelled. There are rumours that there will be no tourists here for 3 months. I am keeping a blog post up to date when I find out real information. I can't update a video so this is the asiest way - www.jpinfuerteventura.com/categories/travel-fuerteventura-life/fuerteventura-is-on-lockdown/
I also want to live there.I can really understand why you like it.Was there in january and loved it.Perhaps we can have a lager in the irish pub there which i loved when i visit this winter :).Cheers
+JP in Fuerteventura Yes,it was next to flix bar i think in town.Very nice live music and good prices :).Really liking your videos and your thoughts on life there.I also noticed the people are very friendly there and loveable. How long have you lived there?
Thanks. You are living my dream. In the U.K. I'm mostly housebound by my M.S. I am in far more pain when cold. (80% of the year) On holidays in Fueteventura or Lanzerote I take 48hrs to be able to walk without my usual 2 sticks! My pain is gone and I have a life! I wanted to ask if you have any concerns re your right to stay as a resident since the disaster of Brexit? Thanks
We have a number of friends living here who have medical problems (arthritis and asthma) who never need to use their medication, unlike when they were in the UK. Personally no, and I don't see it as a disaster either. There is no way that Spain would not allow the Brits to stay as they are too good for the Spanish economy. Likewise any EU citizens settled in the UK will remain. It is just the leftie media that likes to fuel the belief that things will be different. Brits were moving to Spain long before we even joined the EU. As it is your dream do you have any plans to make it your reality? I hope so. Thanks for watching and for your comment Wendy.
Thanks so much for you immediate reply. I pray you are right about the rights of Brits to live abroad. (And vice versa though European nurses have been informed their NHS contracts will not be renewed!) I guess I'm extra worried as when I get sick I need expensive hospital care. Since Brexit I feared that no matter what financial challenges, I'd never get a visa type permit of residence, as I am an expensive poorly person. But hey...that's the £200K or so I've cost the NHS in the past 20yrs. I am well in hot dry climates, so maybe no more relapses? Thanks for your vids here. I'm counting the days till 5th April when we'll be in Corralejo again. My plans are in their infancy but 'failing to plan is planning to fail' love Wendy
The NHS telling EU nurses they aren't going to renew their contracts is rather different to the Home Office telling them they cannot stay or work in the UK. As I keep reminding everyone who blames Brexit for everything - Brixit hasn't happened yet and won't for at least 2 years. I am sure you will have a great time - April is just around the corner.
Hello, my partner and myself love your videos. We are planning to come to live in Fuerteventura in around 6 months, do you have any tips on where is the best place to live for a reasonable amount in a quiet area, or any advice at all ? Thank you
Hi Charis, That is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question. Drop me an email, which you will find on my website www.jpinfuerteventura.com and we can talk about it via email.
It can be very windy or completely still at times (on a day by day or hour by hour basis). I wrote this article "Is it always windy in Fuerteventura?" on my website - www.jpinfuerteventura.com/categories/the-weather-in-fuerteventura/is-it-always-windy-in-fuerteventura/ Thanks for watching John.
Hey JP, thanks for your wonderful videos. May I ask which spot/region you mention at 5:58, as I'm German I perform badly on understanding British accents on Spanish names/words ;) Would be nice to get an answer :) Best regards from Berlin :)
I think you mean "the river beds" which was where I was walking and talking. They are near Lajares in the north of Fuerteventura. Let me know if that is not what you meant. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi ,,We are staying in caleta del fuste and are trying to locate a fish mongers to buy fresh fish. It would appear that the spa in the shoping centre covers this. However do you know of any alertatives . Regards
Hi Stephen. I have never been in a shop in Caleta so can't help. I suggest you go on Facebook and join "Caleta de Fuste We Love You" as someone will know on there. facebook.com/groups/796917363762291/
Ditto for Lanzarote! I Bought a 6 bedroom, 7 bathroom house, beautiful 4.2k sq m garden and pool in a rural position with indescribably stunning views, for the price of a 3 bed semi in UK, council tax for the year pays for one month in the UK, bins are separate, 51 Euros for the year for two collections a week. What is more you can actually see the council workers regularly attending to the roads and cleaning and clearing the roadsides keeping up appearances, what do they do with all that money in the UK? Build up their pensions I think.
That sounds like a stunning property. With regard to council tax, it is hard to believe that we get so much for so little here and yet so little for so much in the UK. Thanks for watching.
It's where I'll end up eventually, my favourite place in the world.
I hope you make it soon. Thanks for watching.
A few comments on the list
He is lovely. Drop me an email nearer the time and perhaps we can meet up. You will find it in the about tab on RUclips.
I'm glad you liked it. Speaking Spanish is certainly a big advantage. It is a nice outdoor lifestyle here. Thanks for watching.
Thanks JP - my wife and I make our third visit in October, I wouldn't mind living there myself.
Well I hope you make it. There are probably better places but it beats most others. Thanks for watching and have a good time in October.
Thank You. Best holiday of my life was here. I met a beautiful Spanish lady two days into my two week holiday in 2004 and will never forget the time we spent together.
(On that note, you forgot to mention the naturist beaches, incidentally)
...I may retire to this fantastic place.
Thanks JP. That's great, trying to escape xmas for once.
+JP in Fuerteventura agree with the missing work phase entirely 😀, subscribed and hope to see more of your videos soon👍
How old are you now? Is it hard to find a job over there?
Mark Roberts the sale prices are really low at the min I’ve just got a new house
I've been to Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. I'm now going to Fuerteventura (Caleta de Fuste) in August. I cant wait. Then I will have been to all 4 main Canary islands.
It will be interesting to see what you think of it here, compared to the other islands. Will you be travelling around?
It will be interesting to see what you think Ken. It is an island people either love or hate, no inbetween. Thanks for watching.
fuerteventura is the most beautiful beaches.ive been there for 7 times.
It certainly has Mathilda. In fact this week's video will be about the beaches of El Cotillo. Thanks for watching and your comments.
+JP in Fuerteventura

That is a shame you can't come this year. The weather is lovely at the moment. I live in La Oliva in the north of the island.
+JP in Fuerteventura
hi jp.
The last year we drive thru la oliva!we didt a road trip from corralejo thru la oliva, betancuria, and we drive thru la paret, and than back to coralejo.
a few years back we also drive to villa winter!!hihi.this was a tough road.
we see all off fuerteventura.
in 10 days we were on holiday we drive almost 1000 km.
That's is a lot of driving in 10 days. The road to Cofete is certainly interesting - ruclips.net/video/BvoxX2EVSL0/видео.html
I go there every year on holiday since I was 5 and I love it there!
That's good. You obviously do love it. Thanks for watching.
fair enough, but surely you wish to see the rest of the world?
I totally agree. I've been in Fuertaventura for some time and it's amazing. Holidays in Fuerteventura is a great way to unwind. Hope I will be able to stay here in the future for good ;)
I hope you make it
Looks amazing buddy . Yes I agree with you here in England it sucks , love the climate . You clearly have made the right decision .
Great video, my girlfriend and I have just booked up to go in September. We went to Tenerife last year and loved it so we're really looking forward to seeing your island.
I hope I haven't oversold it Andy ;-) I am sure you will have a great time. Thanks for watching.
Lovely. Your videos make us want to do it even more now. We're buying in Triquivijate. Can't wait! Take care
Good luck. That's a nice part of the island. Thanks for watching and your comment.
Great video! Very true about the climate and how it uplifts mood
Except the climate of the past few days! Thanks for watching Paul.
Such a beautiful place to live. Always appreciate your videos :)
+Matthew Cremona - And I appreciate you appreciating my videos Matt!
I'll be there in about 2 months. I can't wait! Thanks for posting your video. I look forward to jogging on the "Moon"!
Well the gravity here is lower so it will make jogging easier ;-) Thanks for watching and have a great time when you are here.
I suggest you join this Facebook group as they will be able to help - facebook.com/groups/534490707025240/.
I hope you manage it. Good luck. Thanks for watching and your comment.
Fell in love with this place after a holiday there. I would love to live there, but I wouldn't have a clue as to finding employment at my age (52)
Contemplating now to move from Sydney OZ to Tenerife, keep it up you've been very helpful.
That's quite a move. Good luck with it. Thanks for watching.
I am enjoying watching your videos. Me and my missus are going on holiday to Costa Calma this coming Saturday for a week . I can't wait . All the best. Mike
Have a great time Mike
I've booked a holiday for mid Feb to get away from the winter blues in U.K. And this will be my first visit to the island I hope I like it
Thanks for watching.
sunshine .happy people and good beaches = good life!
Yes, it's not a bad recipe is it.
@@JPinFuerteventura Thanks we will do ! :)
I am glad you enjoyed it Jacob. Thanks for watching.
Great video. Good info too. Thinking of making the move and find your videos very helpful. Keep it up👍
It is a pretty good place to live. Not paradise like some think but better than many places. Good luck with your plans. Thanks for watching.
Nice, I'me realy in love with Fuerte and jealous of people like you, when I good find a way to make a living over there, I would do it
No need to feel jealous Gerritje. Just make a plan and work towards it. I hope you make it. Thanks for watching.
JP in Fuerteventura thank you for making it sound very easy ✌🏻️
i came back from a week in Fuertaventura a couple of days ago it was my first time and we stayed as Coleta Campo De Golf in a friends family Villa it was amazing and definatley want to go back again. we also visited Corralejo it the north of the island. the weather was sunny and around 21-23 degrees. definately recommend it to anyone. it is more of an adult holiday place though limited things for children to do.
My son and I are looking in to leaving wet and gret Nottingham behind
Also as you mention the cost of living.
I hope you manage to get here Kerry.
so im having a marathon on your channel, i love your sense of humor 😆💥
Thank you. You obviously have a very high pain threshold 😉
Hope to retire to Fuerteventura eventually, my favourite place and , hopefully, will be on holiday next year (2021) .
Usually go to Caleta de Fuste but visiting Correlejo , thanks for the video .
Good luck with the retirement plan Gary. There are certainly worse places to retire to. Thanks for watching.
I'm ganning back next year can't wait also when i went last year it was 40 to 55 degrees
Fortunately those sorts of temperatures are not common. Mid 30s is just perfect. Thanks for watching.
It certainly is a pretty healthy climate. I hadn't thought about air pressure being beneficial too. I hope you like it.
fuerteventura is my island.
im loving it there.
i,ve been 6 times in jandia en one time in corralejo.
i fell in love .💗
its so nice and quit there.
fuerteventura means (hard wind).
google translate says ventura =fortune
Hi Mathilda could you let me know a little about Jandia. I've heard it's one of the best places to be.
Good video, considering I've never been there, I found this video one of the better reviews on a potential holiday destination. You should visit more places and do reviews as you seem to be a natural.
Thanks. I never seem to leave the island these days.
We are going to Fuerteventura on 31.08 can’t wait!
Have a great time, well as much as you can with all these restrictions. Thanks for watching Emma.
Thanks for the info... will be there somewhere beginning 2019
Is that for good or a holiday?
To travel, make videos and photographs, write and create guides about the island. Your videos are very helpfull in preparing. Thank you
I'm so jealous JP - Fuerteventura is my favourite island and one day I'm going to move there - I hope it will be sooner then later.
Just make a plan and put it into operation Damian. I hope you make it. Thanks for watching.
Great videos. A place I would seriously consider relocating too, I think we would have a lot to offer by doing so. The U.K. is in rapid decay and it’s becoming unimaginably difficult to have a decent and dignified life.
Obviously it has its bad bits but overall it is a pretty relaxed life here.
enjoyed the video , we try and visit every year , wouldn't go anywhere else!
+steve taylor That was how we were until we made it our home. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I remember I was in fuerteventura it was raining and it felt so good I don't know why but it does
Odd isn't it. I feel the same. Thanks for watching.
Hi JP,
Thank you for taking the time and making the videos I am starting to enjoy them. May I ask you how much would a married couple be able to live on comfortably ( Not Scrimping ) Maybe eating out 2/3 times a week and not taking into account rent as we plan to buy a villa or an apartment.
Basically everything except the mortgage payment.
Thans
That is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question of course. I would say 1500-2000€.
+Shaun Matthews Thanks Shaun, I am glad you found it useful. Thank you for watching and subscribing. John
Will be retiring there as soon as my son buys his own home
I hope he manages it soon then Chris.
We love Fuerte, this year we move there, finger cross...
Heaven in the earth
I hope it all goes well Esia
Thank bro you have changed my mind, I'm coming 2o22
I hope you enjoy it
We just shot some vids on the island during a holidays, we loved it, such a great place.
Thanks.
Well I hope you have a great time then. We have friends staying then so will be out and about more then. If you spot me say hello.
Great video! Thanks for uploading it!
Thank you for watching!
I'm agree with you Sr.I love to Fuerteventura Island for live..🏝👌
Absolutely
I love how happy you are and look. Very nice.
That must have been on one of my good days then 😏 Thanks for watching.
Being from Canada I can appreciate your comments on British weather; it sure sounds familiar. Will be in Fuerteventura next July!
Hummm eso quisiera yo vivir en Fuerte Ventura 😯😢pero vivo en Gran canarias
¡Bueno, no está lejos moverse! Gracias por ver.
I do agree with all you say. Actually I'm trying to find a house in Corralejo and move there this year. Thanks for the video ;)
I hope it all works out for you. Thanks for watching.
Brilliant review
thank you very much
Cheers Olito
Fuerteventura is a paradise.
Is there any vegetation - looks like a lunar landscape? JP, do you have any VIDs regarding cost of living? Thanks again for the VID.
Funnily enough, the first time I brought Sue here, about 20 years ago, she thought I had brought her to the moon. It is pretty barren but it does have a beauty of its own. It gets greener during the winter after we have rain. Thanks for watching.
I will be there in 2 weeks cant wait!!
It is warming up for you
Hi JP, thank you very much for your quick reply.
I LIVE THEREEEE
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching Sylvia

Gonna try and move there too! 💪
Did you retire over in fuerteventura or did build business over there? Which part of fuerteventura do you live?
I was still running my UK business when we moved here. I was able to run it via the internet. I'm still not actually retired though - it is more like forced unemployment until I get my UK state pension later this year. We live in the north of the island. Thanks for watching Philip.
Looks like El Cotillo area, love it so much there.
Yes, just outside Lajares. Thanks for watching Antonio.
Did you take a Caterham 7 with you to Fuerteventura ? (as depicted in the
background of this video)
Had one for 18 years.Loads of fun.
JP in Fuerteventura Thank you, and the map is very helpful.
Keep 'em comin' JP
+Stephen Cunningham Thanks Stephen, I will try
Looking at maybe trying 2 weeks mid February. What type of weather can we expect and does it differ around the island
Thanks again JP!
You're welcome - thanks for watching
....like your channel JP....good luck!!
Thank you Patricio. Thanks for watching.
I also want to live there.I can really understand why you like it.Was there in january and loved it.Perhaps we can have a lager in the irish pub there which i loved when i visit this winter :).Cheers
Hi Johnnie. Thanks for watching and commenting. Is that one of the Irish pubs in Corralejo?
+JP in Fuerteventura Yes,it was next to flix bar i think in town.Very nice live music and good prices :).Really liking your videos and your thoughts on life there.I also noticed the people are very friendly there and loveable. How long have you lived there?
We have been here 3.5 years now, full-time, and sent the three previous winters here too.
nice vid
ive been in corralejo, costa calma ,cotillo all very nice places
Thank you. I am glad you liked it. As you say, they are all great places. Thanks for watching.
i like you video.I am plan to go to Canaria in sumer next year.
Thank you Maylin. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for watching.
Yeah...I keep telling myself, 'things will be O.K'. Thanks for reminding me to be hopeful. (£1=$1.25 today) eek!
What type of temp can we expect at the end of October?
Cheers
The average daily maximum in October is 29.4ºC. I think September and October are generally the two nicest months here.
wish there were more videos like this!
Cheers Ed. That is very nice of you to say. There may be a 5 things I don't like about Fuerteventura soon to give some balance.
thanks for this !
Thank you for watching!
Good afternoon JP is it always windy there is what I'm hearing or do you have some days where it's not very windy at all thank you
It can be very windy or completely still at times (on a day by day or hour by hour basis).
Thanks for watching and commenting.
haha... yes that's what you said... I didn't understand ;) Thanks!! :)
Love the place to bits
It's not paradise but it certainly isn't bad. Thanks for watching.
I suggest you go on Facebook and join "Caleta de Fuste We Love You" as someone will know on there. facebook.com/groups/796917363762291/
stephen essex hi coincidentally I have read this comment and live in cleta de fuste I hope u had a nice visit
I'm really starting to think the Canary Islands are the best place to live in the entire world.
living the dream mate. I wish brexit hadn't made it harder for me when my retirement comes but i am determined to move abroad.
It can still be done. I know a few that have managed without too much difficulty. Thanks for watching.
alreet mate ,, I was living in lanza 04 - 2012 & listened to a radio station from fuerte , did you present a show ?
Hi Wayne. It wasn't me although it is certainly true that I have a face best suited to radio. Cheers. JP
