Its rare to find scholars like you sheikh.
Tbh we need more of those in the middle line because islam as a religion is the median and not Conservative or liberal.
We shouldnt be so defensive to lead extreme left oe extreme right.

Also the injustice you point to of the current tyrants of the Muslim world is only rebuked by certain strands of salafism, ahlul sunnah as a whole hates these tyrants for they are enemies of Islam, refusing to implement it and imprisoning/torturing anyone who tries.

It's easy to say, but it happens everytime. Anyone who has a different opinion on any Islamic laws or faith would be completely helpless against a rabid mob or arrested and "rehabilitated" for stating deviant ideas.

If it's only for worship, then why bother having a religion. Anyone can believe and worship anything, what makes Allah any different if that is the case? The truth? Should humanity worship truth? Without critical thinking?
Believe or not, but Islam are both for the sake of guidance for man in order to enact truth and prevents injustice anywhere. paradise should be the furthest destination that we need to focus. there is no civilization if mankind only cares for what's after them.

When Islam began to be revealed, Allah SWT and the Prophet SAWS addressed moral and ethics first, then Allah revealed the Shari'a ruling. Because if you apply Shari'a without morality and ethics, it will cause disaster. The niya is everything. Today most Muslims use Shari'a just to fulfill their selfish desires, they don't care about hurting people.

Where there is no justice or freedom , there is no gods

The holistic understanding is that all kufr is unjust, the implementation of kufr laws is unjust, and only the shari'a can bring justice to the affairs of a society.
The driving objective of the prophet SAW was the promulgation and implementation of the wahy he received from Allah swt. Justice is then a fruit of this. None of us have a right to say, stoning is not just, or forcing the hijab is not just, or women praying behind the men is not just, and so on. For this is simply evaluating justice based on western influenced ideas of what is justice or not.
It is upon us to put our loyalty first and foremost to what the book of Allah swt and the sunnah of his prophet SAW said. To coolheadedly derive what it is that was communicated to us in terms of dos and donts. If we start to prefer our own rationalizations to the clear Islamic texts, then we have places ourselves and our own biases as the legislator besides Allah. This is the chief problem of the modernist movement. تقديم العقل على النقل. We should instead learn to be intellectually subordinate to Allah's infinite intelligence and wisdom, and not put too much stock into our own inherent intuitions of right and wrong. For as we all understand, these intuitions are biased, flawed, and by-and-large a product of our cultural upbringing and life experiences.

Are you saying stoning like the pagans and forcing women (physically or otherwise) to wear the scarf are all fine? What else is fine? R@_ping slaves? Marrying 9 year old girls? Oh yeah, you probably already believe that's permissible under your version of Islam, don't you? New flash; not all Muslims or even all scholars agree with each other. We have sects, sub sects, translations, interpretations etc. We are not a monolith.
Also, what is with the "western culture" excuse anyway? Not everything is about the west. But if it bothers you that much then ask your brothers to stop wearing shirts and pants and revert to wearing jubbahs and covering their heads with turbans. If you really want to equate Arab culture with Islam that is.
This is not "Allah's infinite intelligence and wisdom" you speak of. It's a pity and shame you think so. Look up the word "infinite", yet your words that seem to promote rigidity in religion.

The line between reading a rationalization into a text and reading the text itself is not always clear. Furthermore, whatever set of texts constitutes the set of "clear Islamic texts" is also a matter of disagreement. It is also worth noting that clearly our inherent intuitions must be part of our purpose (otherwise why would we have them?).

The Quran does not mention stoning as a punishment. Stoning is mentioned in the Bible. Sometimes humans ignore history and origin stories, and impute their own understanding which they learnt from scholars, who themselves normalized social constructs and customs as sharia law.

What you said is very well written all but what you wrote is contradictory to the teachings of the Quran and the Prophet. You are supposed to purify your intuition or the fitra as it’s known in Islam. You are also supposed to use your intellect, and reason. Look at the amount of time Allah tells us in the Quran to ponder and think. To not be like those who are deaf dumb and blind. Blind following is agaiNst Islam and taking things from the Quran without rationalizing it and thing about it how it could fit in our modern day makes Islam irrelevant. Much of the rulings In the Quran for instance was relevant to the ppl and their cultural and environmental circumstances. Look at the inheritance concept in the Quran. There is a whole context to that where male relatives by law were obligated to provide for their female relatives hence the whole thing of them getting half and a women back then she could sue to for her provision if her male relatives didn’t provide for her. In our modern age in the west especially we don’t have that. So applying the law for instance of men get 2x more than women would not suit our social circumstances because we do not have the same laws or circumstances that necessitated for women to get half or men to get 2x more. Same thing with the hadiths of the prophet saying a woman cannot travel more than X amount of tiles without a mahr. All of that for instance head context to it where back then Muslims were being attacked and it was done to protect the Muslims at that time especially the women from the pagan Mexicans attacking them. In today’s era we don’t have that. So applying these laws in our day without using rationale and thing and reason would be Injust and corrupt. Allah tells us to use our intellect by asking us do you not ponder do you not think ? Reminding us to not be like those who do not reflect over his ayat (proofs evidences signs revelations) to not be like those who deaf dumb and blind. All of these things that God asks of us in the Quran all require the use of the intellect and to not blind follow but to think critically. Also the prophet has praised the intellect as well so bro i don’t know what you’re going on about not using our own reason it sounds like you are reacting to modernity.
In response to modernist movement, you understand every single one of us are modern right ? The neo traditionalist movement like what Hamza Yusuf is part of is birthed out of modernity, the fixation of hijab and trivial stuff like beard and music are bred out of modernity, salafi and wahhabi and deobandi are bred out of modernity, “liberal” Islam is bred out of modernity and so it “conservative” Islam. If you blind follow and not use you intellect or reason you become who Allah has called the deaf the dumb and the blind and miss out on a lot. Religion at least Islam is not to make you stupid and suspend your intellect. The advancements of Muslims came from using the intellect and rationale. Not from suspending it.
