    You are the only instructor who’s been able to break the guitar down in such simple terms. The fact you do this, and mostly for free, is a testament to your love of music and wanting others to share in that joy. Thank you for inspiring and empowering all of us! You are a gift to your audience.

    Really good video. I’m sure you delve into it down the road, but I would argue the concept of accents should be introduced early, as otherwise folks might not realize they’re applying this concept correctly. The 2 on your Folsom Prison is an example. Really knits it together. But I understand this is more beginner level stuff, and it is a very clear, concise version of that.

    Great lesson! I've been playing nothing but covers and just starting to do practice instead of just playing songs. I've killed the DDUUDU to the point my playing sounds dull using the same or similar patterns. This one is new and exciting and I look forward to learning much more. I've been playing 10 years so some of my playing sounds good, but I want it to sound mucg more than just good haha.

    Not sure if you still check comments on this one but I played poorly but stopped 25 years ago. Just started again. Basic knowledge of chords, no scales or anything. Don’t know how to fingerpick yet and was going to try. Also need to clean up how I play my chords and stop hitting wrong strings randomly and want to be able to pick out some bass notes while I play. I guess until I saw this I hadn’t realized how important strum patterns are since I always just played to my records. With this long list of things I want to learn and being nearly 50 years old now...do the strumming patterns become something you just do without thinking about it after you get it down? I have so much to learn and no idea where to start or if I should just not even bother with some stuff. Feeling rather hopeless in regards to it.

      Luther Perkins actually used an alternate base strum that goes something like this, using the E chord for example: 1 bass note E. 2 the rest of the chord. 3 bass note B. 4 rest of chord. If you want his infamous train sound, you can do an up stroke at the end of the 2 & 4 count leading to the next count. The "and" in other words.
      The chords are E, A, and B7, with a capo on the 1st fret optional.

    • @brucevanmierlo9617
      @brucevanmierlo9617 6 лет назад

      Oh, the intro is B B B B D# D# D# B F# E G F# E - Raised a half step if using the optional capo on the 1st fret
