I thought the part number looked weird - a drive model that was originally IBM would explain it. or possibly the drive being SCSI instead of SAS or SATA.
Yeah, this is due to it being a pre-IBM acquisition design from Hitachi. They used the "DK" prefix until they ditched most of their designs for IBM's. I have a post covering this model type format if you're interested: bananahdd.nl/index.php/2023/03/16/decoding-hitachi-hard-drive-model-numbers-pre-ibm-dk-prefix/
WD bought out the Hitachi hard drive operations over a decade ago. Only in the last couple years have the legal restrictions requiring them to operate that part of their company separately have finally gone away. The Ultrastar lineup has ALWAYS been a line of Enterprise-level drives with high-end Enterprise-level reliability and longevity.
@@cezarymuchowiecki8748 i need one that needs with pcie because the only microtower i have only has 4 pcie slots (and 3 of which is x1, one is x16 but doesnt support anything else other than gpu's)
Yeah, the Adaptec AHA-2940 I use is an excellent controller I can really recommend! For PCI cards it's pretty much a perfect all-rounder. If you don't have access to standalone PCI and need something newer, then I simply recommend going with any card from either LSI or Adaptec. When you're in the PCI-e realm all of those cards are pretty much going to have great compatibility across the board. I use LSI for my SAS controller for example and have no issues, so I'd say something from either brand is a great option.
@@cezarymuchowiecki8748 Thanks for the recommendation, but i don't really have a PCI machine i could use, so i'll get an adaptec card like @bigbluebananabread said. for SAS i'll get a half height card as my tower has weird issues with the x16 slot and i'll use a riser for that
Why "cringe"? I bet you weren't around in the 90ies, where at a certain moment having a 2 GIGAbyte hard drive made you the cool kid in school (well, at least between nerds xD)...
I love this new look!
Thank you!!
Best luck for your best edit improve😁@@bigbluebananabread
Wow that hdmotion session was SPEEDY!
WOW this drive is SPEEDY!
Good SCSI Hitachi!
I have 4 Hitachi Ultrastar HUS103014FL3800, they are very loud and fast, all work very well, no bad sectors.
Nice visuals to go with the video capture!
Thanks a bunch!!
love the new capture card, looks good^^
the drive sounds like performance
Thanks :)
It really sounds incredible in-person! Stupidly loud!

ah la vache !!! il envoie des ours ce disque dur, je suis impressionné. il pourrait faire mieux que des SSD SATA !
Right now, Ultrastar is under Western Digital. It's like enterprise lineup of HDD

which scsi controller do you recommend?
Here is adaptec aha-2490, in my opinion is good, because have pci port and support newer hardware 😊

Can also recommend the AHA-29160, also a great card.
cringe my hdd is 2tb
and its probably less interesting than this one
And this drive is from early 2000s while yours is probably from 2015
@@MiloHakai 2tb drives existed since 2008 but with the way this kid acted i bet he's from 2010 or later
