New basic understanding of questioning the connection between the premises and conclusion gives me better abilities to see the reasoning of arguments, but that only makes it harder to come up with arguments myself.

Your two-part videos are critically crucial for us to both produce well-constructed arguments with valid premises and to tell weak arguments with insufficient or irrelevant premises from strong ones with sufficient and relevant premises. Actually, that is what we do all our lives, but do not pay attention to it, I mean we have been engaged in convincing others presenting arguments and in most cases end up in failure because of our lousy premises. Now, it totally makes sense how much it is vital to be well-informed before putting forward any arguments with corresponding premises. Hi, helpful play list. Quick question: I've noticed you seem to tend to analyze a paragraph from bottom to top. Is that so, or is the strategy more along the lines of working from a the "last" premise towards the point or conclusion?
Thank you, Veronica! I do sometimes go bottom to top to show people that the main idea (or the main point) of a paragraph could be anywhere. Sometimes writers start a paragraph by laying out the main idea; other times, they use a concluding statement. The important point I hope people are getting in these videos is that you need to look for *patterns of ideas* and work out the meaning from that. The important thing is to identify the topic, figure out what the writer is saying about it (the *main point*), and how the writer lays it out in the paragraph. I agree... However, in the example paragraph in the video, the main idea was about a safe place to live. Friendly people is a good argument for "a good place to live," not a "safe place to live." Creating an argument can be tricky but, as readers, we need to be on the lookout for inconsistencies like those. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! :D
There is no “magic number” as far as how many premises you need. It depends on how complex the conclusion is. In one case, you can have one strong piece of evidence that leads to an unambiguous conclusion; in another, you may need several. Thanks for watching and leaving a question! Cheers! :D

Sometimes, a video resonates with people even if they don’t hit the like button. Focus on the quality of the comments rather than sheer numbers. Thoughtful comments are valuable feedback.
When you explain something, you simply clarify it or provide causes, reason, relationships, and so on. When you argue something, you must take sides and defend your position. I'm not sure I understand the question, though. Is that something people use when teaching writing? If so, the only thing that comes to mind is that (1) you should consider audience you are writing for and (2) you should strive for clarity and depth of thought. It drives me nuts, too, when I catch these issues after the video has been posted because I cannot fix it anymore.
