  • Because my wife and I have the rule that I can only spend money on my hobby, which I earned with my hobby, I needed a cheap camera. Here is the short story about my "new" old panasonic HDC-SD9
I wanted a FullHD camera with optical zoom because I think an iPhone is not the best way to capture video specaily there is no zoom. So I was looking for one that is cheap because my hobby is not generating hundreds of euros.
As luck would have it, a few days ago a customer told me that he's still happy with his Panasonic HDC SD9 I sold him in 2008. I remember that the HDC SD9 was back in 2008 one of the best HD cameras you could buy for arround 800€ and we sold a lot. So I searched in eBay and was shocked most of them was still over 100€ or in bad condition after a while I found one with a broken display hinge for just 45€ including shipping. And this is the one I bought now. I connect it to an external LCD Display that just sit in front of me so I can sit and see what I'm doing.
Those are my first test and exept that it can't record 60p I like it. Now I can zoom in and the tele macro is great for showing things. Only the microphone is not the best.

8:20 - The camera lost focus because there was low contrast from the plain white IC package in the center of the view. I would also recommend keeping the camera view on the same side as your view. You will likely have to move the camera further out from the wall but it provides a better view in my opinion. Keep the camera mounted to the table and not the wall. That way as the desk moves so does the camera. As long as the desk is sturdy it won't shake on camera. I am planning my own YT channel also. Good luck.

In the last part I already have the camera mounted the camera more stable in the first part the camera was just mounted to a transformer withe cable-ties that was no stable enough. now it is more stable and the effect when I hit the table is much lower and only happen in the tele-zoom setting. I have to make more tests with it. I also mounted the Display upside down so it is not mirrored. For 45€ it comes out very well.

@@thsinger thanks! I've tested it already. Works better than many newer models, with almost no lag.
