  • Part 2 in my series that shows how to make a challenge lock. In this video I go thru making some serrations on some key pins, then putting the lock together!
I recently got my nephew and brother-in-law into Locksport and I wanted to make a special challenge lock for them. They are new to the sport so I wanted to make something that wasn't too much of a challenge, but would help them in learning some tricks for the American Lock 1100 series.

    3:17 Let's cut some serrations!
    9:30 Let's put everything together!

Here are some links to the Sparrows Practice Locks that I use:
    Progressive Locks ($28.50): www.sparrowslockpicks.com/pro...
    - This include 4 SC4 Brass Locks starting with 2 pins and ends with 5 pins. Each lock is keyed different so a really great deal in my opinion. You'll want to get the Resin Plug Follower from Sparrows with this as well. It makes getting the retaining cap off much easier!
Practice Lock: Core Trainer ($22.50): www.sparrowslockpicks.com/pro...
    - This includes 3 cores (KW1, Y1, and WR5). I like this paired with the Progressive Locks since once you're use to the keys you can recore three of them to different keyways. The only thing that I don't like is the pin that locks the retaining cap in place is sometimes to far away from the serrations on the cap and won't lock.
I am just a newbie in the locksport/lockpicking world. I am not a professional and only have been in this hobby for a few months at this point.
Let's keep lock sport legal! Only pick locks that you own and do not use!
