Was going for 2826 12" top handle but with all the overheating issues with the batteries I might just pull the trigger on this smaller hatchet.

Does anyone know if (and how) the chains on these can be sharpened on the saw? I'd like to hit the teeth with a file occasionally for a quick refresh.
Is this possible without running the motor to move the chain?

I touch mine up all the time. It seems a little weird at first because the chain doesn't free spin like a gas saw. There's no clutch to disengage it so when you move the chain you're turning the motor as well. Takes a bit more effort but it does rotate. You can pull it along with a gloved hand or just hook a tooth with your file.

@@xgreywolfx364 I was hesitant to try that, thinking it could damage the gearing. The manual says to remove the chain and bar, but there are no clues about how to tension the chain (on or off the bar) so it can be filed.
I like to keep an edge on those teeth as I go, so I'll just push it around I guess.
      ...Thank you.

Before sharpening the chain, don't forget to remove the battery from the saw!
