1. The chorus is an age long folklore that has been handed down from generations of Ondo Ekimogun people of Ondo State in South West Nigeria. In ancient history, the Yoruba people live a communal lifestyle. The good of others is a plus to one. Unlike nowadays where people live independent of others and the dearth of communal goodwill, the song reminds us all of the greatness in communal living.
2. meaning "my rejoicing with others has brought forth my own source of joy"
3. "Uyo Meyo is a traditional Ondo saying from Nigeria that talks about rejoicing and happiness. The Ondo tribe is part of the larger Yoruba culture in South-West Nigeria."
4. In African Traditional Religion, the place of “Ori” cannot be overemphasized. Ori, literally meaning “head,” refers to one’s spiritual intuition and destiny. It is the reflective spark of human consciousness embedded into the human essence, and therefore is often personified as an Orisha in its own right. Teni begs her Ori to let her prosper and guard her. She pleads with her Ori to open doors for her.
5. Here she’s doing something called the “Oriki” its common among the Yoruba tribe in West Africa (Nigeria) which translates to “praise poetry”. The oríkì varies in length depending on whether it is the name given to a child to describe the future portents of the life or a recital of the accomplishments of a person’s clan. It is invoked to praise a child for bringing pride to the parents or to attempt to evoke virtuous character traits of bravery, fortitude and perseverance that are believed to be innate in a person by pedigree.
6. Then she went on to invoke the spirit of her late father “Omoluwoleja Apata”
7. In Yoruba traditional setting, the dead is saintly and a communication with the dead is expected to be done with a pure heart and soul. Again, she tapped into the rich Yoruba traditions by calling on the dead not to sleep. Yoruba believe a dead parent is the Guardian Spirit of his/her children. It is reciprocated. She has made him proud as a worthy child that has kept his name alive despite the wishes of the enemy to kill it off. She is demanding that he protects her in return cause she’s made her proud and he should be happy wherever he is.

Teniola gives me a goosebumps the first time I heard this song was at sch pursuing ma Bachelor degree in Nursing through tough time at sch but the dong gave me strength humility and passionately I started on Teni. You woman, u ma Model, ma definition of music.
No word can describe how magnificent you are. I feel the cold breeze overwhelming ma superficial layer of the skin with a very cold thin film of moisture whenever the speaker banger uyo meyo is hitting and as well whenever someone calls me coz I tapped it as ma Ringtone.
Much love from UG🇺🇬

Lol, I'm Nigerian, more than 90% of us don't understand what she's saying.. it's a deeper dialect of one of the numerous languages we have here... You are not alone 😘
"Uyo meyo" is a word in Yoruba dialect from Ondo State and it means "I rejoiced" so she's saying that she rejoiced with people's success and the same came back to her.
Meaning if you celebrate with people, you'll also be celebrated.
@@nwikendulue4824 she's singing dance, dance and rejoice - that because she always celebrates every good thing, good thing has happened to her and it is now her turn to be celebrated.
Music Translation for non-Yoruba speakers and Yoruba speakers
“Ori’s” English translation is “head” but within the context of this song and the Yoruba language it translates to an individual’s “Divine Destiny”. To translate such an inspirational song literally is to erode the wealth of message being conveyed by the artist.!
Chorus
the joy that I express
the joy that I express
oh joy!
the joy that I express for the good fortunes of others, that same joy is now mine
Verse 2
(The essence of ORI)
What my eyes have seen eh eyeh
oh the adversities that I have encountered
Don’t let them tell you, “you can’t”
And they won’t help you just so you know
Just keep on pushing oh uhooo
the height that my father could not attain
I will attain and also surpass
the height that my mother could not attain
I will attain and also surpass
my head (divine destiny), my head (divine destiny), I beg of you
my head (divine destiny), oh pave the way for my heart's desire
my head (destiny), do not slumber!

Let's Rejoice
Dr. Dolor Entertaiment
Let's dance always, let's always rejoice1
The joy I have expressed for others shall be my portion too2
I rejoiced with you3, I rejoiced with you
I rejoiced with you and now it is my time to rejoice
I rejoiced with you, I rejoiced with you
The joy I have expressed for others shall be my portion too
Everybody's born a winner, yeh yeeh
If only you just believe, yea eh yeh eh
Close your eyes and come and see, nah yea eh yeh eh
Don't you worry about a thing, nah
Cause if you work hard
You can get it if you work
If you strive hard
You can be just what you want
If you work hard
You can climb the mountain tall
Cause nothing is too small
And nothing is too big
I rejoiced with you, I rejoiced with you
The way I celebrate and rejoice with other people, it is my turn to be celebrated
I rejoiced with you, I rejoiced with you
The joy I have expressed for others shall be my portion too
Eh yeh
What my eyes have seen, eyeh
What my eyes have seen, ye yeh
Don't let them tell you "you can't"
And they won't help you, just so you know
Just keep on pushing oh oh uh oh
The heights my father was not able to attain
I will attain that height and surpass it
The heights my mother was not able to attain
I will attain that height and surpass it
May my Ori4 bring me wealth
May my Ori bring me wealth
Do not sleep, my Ori!
I rejoiced with you, I rejoiced with you
The way I celebrate and rejoice with other people, it is my turn to be celebrated
I rejoiced with you, I rejoiced with you
The joy I have expressed for others shall be my portion too
Here are my hands, they are clean and pure
I’ll progress confidently or I’ll go higher with confidence
Teni, I'm a true born5, I am Apata's daughter6
I'm resolute, I stand unshakable on my feet
They thought I was finished
But God had other plans
They thought it was over,
But God said it’s not over yet!
Children's are one's clothing in this life
Olaosebikan, you must not sleep (in heaven)!7
May you stand by me everyday
Don’t let my enemies collide with my Ori (destiny), please!
Wherever you are, I know you are proud of me
Because I'm an achiever, I'm a success in my life!
Because I'm a bold conqueror
(Dr. Dolor Entertaiment)
I am fortunate in life, I'm an achiever
I've done well in life.
Thanks so much honey
Good work ❤
Thank you so much for this🙏

Yes. I’m african American and found out I’m Yoruba. It soothes my heart and soul. I know my ancestors are proud that I picked up the mother tongue that they were forced to give up during slavery
Not just the language but the people. Blessed!
Been through a lot in life ,never seen myself as anything than the bottom but I know my time will come to celebrate,I will continue to work hard and believe I will make it.

Verse 2
( The essence of ORI)
What my eyes have seen eh eyeh
oh the adversities that I have encountered
Don’t let them tell you, “you can’t”
And they won’t help you just so you know
Just keep on pushing oh uhooo
the height that my father could not attain
I will attain and also surpass
the height that my mother could not attain
I will attain and also surpass
my head (divine destiny), my head (divine destiny), I beg of you
my head (divine destiny), oh pave the way for my heart's desire
my head (destiny), do not slumber!
