Lac de la Gileppe - Belgium

The Gileppestuwdam is a mighty beautiful building in the Ardennes and is located near the place Jalhay in the Belgian province of Liège.
The reservoir "Lac la Gilleppe" has a capacity of no less than 25 million cubic meters of water.
The enormous dam is one of the oldest concrete dams in Europe. Construction began in 1869 and lasted until 1878.
The supply of water is ensured by the Gileppe, which originates in the High Fens.
One of the main features of the dam is a 13.5 meter high and 130 tonne sandstone lion.
