Finally someone on you tube who doesn't cut the fillet off the fish. You my friend are doing it the easy way. now there's something to grab on to get the skin off. Your electric knife is interesting. I always thought they were somewhat of a waste of time. You've changed my mind. Man does that knife make it easy. I don't smoke or drink and can't afford that thing. I'm married and that's the reason why I can't afford it.
lol i understand the married part. For a cheaper option try black and decker electric knifes. They dont last as long but they are really good for filleting fish also
THANK YOU for blessing your meal openly. So many people don't anymore, and when I'm in a restaurant and see others at another table asking for blessing over their meal, it touches my heart!
Seen a video the other day, great channel! Nice to see some humor that isnt dirty but actually funny jokes. And a man fishing with his dad and a man fishing with his son. Great content great job a commend you for the integrity of the content
Hell yeah. I just did this with a few fat slabs we hauled in off Lake Guntersville last night. Didn't get in til 5 this morning. Kept 'em on ice til I got up, fillted 'em and fried 'em up just like this... OMG. Served them to my own baby girl and it was nothing but yum town. Thanks!
Your 100% right! Ain't nothing more honest than a kid! Hahaha! I've watching your vids past week or so, I have to say, it's good to see a good, clean, educational fishing show!
I told you Fishing Ken. That blackened crappie is a close second to fried. There is nothing like frying them is a Cajun blend of corn meal, but you have to do what you have to do sometimes. I have found that real butter, high heat and a true blackened seasoning works best. My mouth is watering
Man I can not watch your show without my mouth literally dripping saliva all down my chin! I had to stop fried food too and I’m so excited about trying out your new method! Your daughter is cute as a bug in a rug and she’s like her daddy-she knows good food! Keep it up! Thanks for your awesome channel!! DAMN that looked good!!😋
Hey, thanks for the video! I’m so glad you’re taking your health seriously and trying to eat better. I know it’s hard! Wanted to throw out a quick tip: instead of using paper towels or napkins to dry your fish, use a couple of old kitchen or hand towels you can dedicate to fish only. Wash them after each use, of course, and maybe don’t use a laundry detergent with added dyes or scents. It sure saves on paper towels!
My wife has been blackening stuff for years. She learned it from her moma. LOL. No really we tried this. it is an awesome alternative to frying. Your daughter seems to be a very smart well mannered young lady. Love your videos.
I thought you might be a Christian by your launguage during the video, and then what a thrill to see your little girl thank Jesus for her food! God bless you and you family! Great video!
My brother good job i like your show and your daughter she's a sweetie pie, God bless you and your family in jesus Christ mighty name Amen. Aloha from Gilbert now living in Ohio
Jist bought my bubba knife today. Gone try it out Sunday on Bridgeport. Gotta love those millenial seats. I bought mine last year. Aint going back to nothing else. On your fish. Have that cast real hot. Add a little butter, i like to use mortons season all on my pan fried fish after I've coated with olive oil. Sear those fillets a couple minutes on each side it's on!! I love my catfish like that to. Also, get you a copper grill mat, melt butter, add a dash of Worcestershire, and a squirt of olive oil for baste . Grill on the mat over hot coals. Close the lid. Son!!!
Yo HookCity you should try wrapping braid around your line then attaching the split shot over it cause it adds some friction to your line. You can put it super close to your jighead too about 5-6 inches and it won't slip back down, when they're too far apart it reduces your control when casting, especially from the bank.
Another great vid with you and ur dad. ur daughter is a happy camper! Looks yummy! Try a light dusting of flour and corn starch on your dry filets to get them golden brown.
My husband and I love the videos you and your other fisherman have. I just wish we had a fish Market here in Gary IN. I have to go to Chicago to get my crappies and other fish. So take care Hook City TV.
Try grilling on a mat. Use those same season. Or in a foil pouch with onion and lemon in an open fire. Anyway I cook them the family gives a thumbs up!!!!
I was supposed to make a umbrella video last year.. I need to get on the ball. The umbrella is bought from academy as a picnic umbrella and the mount is made from pvc Very simple design and it works well
simple. Heavier set up falls quicker. With the livescope you want it down there as soon as possible. Fish dont always sit still and when you see the one you want you better drop on it!
Great video, you seem like a great man. I did some crappie fishing yesterday. 18 keepers! I bought my first fillet knife last week, and yes you lose meat with it. But a lot faster. I also installed a binimi on my 15' jon boat, took only an hour. Took some of this summer heat away. it cost me only $100.
Love the video, gave me a new idea on how to prepare. Just wish we had crappie that size where I live. Lucky to catch hand size crappie around here. That's why we cook them on the bone.
That’s the way we do tilapia from the store and often fresh caught crappie. Trying to get my wife’s family out of the habit of frying everything lol. Don’t get me wrong I love fried, especially lakeside. Another great seasoning on fish is McCormick’s Chipotle and Garlic. Trust me. I put it on everything.
that's fishin not wishin...he@@ yeah my kinda brothers! grocery shoppin I found my new favorite channel! ..he said got a "Donkey" woo i bout died....@lol eatin like u crazy that did me in 7 8 9 10..loll great job Subscribed!
Awesome video dear Sir!! I could almost taste the fish it looked so good.. :). PS. I think it is hilarious when you jokingly tell the fish to "come on up" in the boat as you are reeling them in..! Come on up, come on up here and join us, welcome to the boat ect ect. I laugh my butt off Everytime you do that. You are awesome man, very cool casual guy, I'd have a blast fishing with a fellow like you and your sense of humor is great! Thanks for another great video. I subscribed to Hook City baby! God Bless!
To get a good blackened fish you have to use the blackened seasoning and you absolutely have to use the old faithful cast iron and you have to get the skillet super hot before you put the fish on it. If you do this I promise you will get good quality blackened fish.
@@HookCityTV Most grocery stores in South Louisiana have it . But Amazon has it as well . Also what model Humminbid unit do you use ? Im watching you and D catching bluegill on beds right now .
You can try getting a air fryer. Just put some olive oil or Pam spray on your Filets and thats all you need to avoid frying anything in a air fryer. I cook everything in it hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken, pork chops. Just read the directions. There are different sizes also. I have the xtra large size. You are going to like it once you use it. God Bless you and your family.
Sorry but I disagree, pork chops and steak are best done in a skillet, super hot, with some butter , crushed garlic, and salt and pepper, I've done it both ways, pan is best.

you need to use a blackening seasoning. It contains sugar that caramelizes and makes it blackened in the cast iron skillet.
BRO! Just found your channel. Love it is that Lake Benbrook you were fishing near Funky Town! Awesome video's sir! Hook City! Heeeeee - Haaaaaw!✌
MAke sure to subscribe man! annd yes thats benbrook lake. Im from fort worth

At least they sell them near you. Here in texas it is illegal to sell crappie. Thanks for the support from my family to yours... God bless
All these years and I have been missing out of crappie and bluegill chips.
Great catch and cook Ken. I know it was good the way your Princess was going primal on those fillets. Love it Brah!
Try grilling on a mat. Use those same season. Or in a foil pouch with onion and lemon in an open fire. Anyway I cook them the family gives a thumbs up!!!!

Two thumbs up, one for you and one for your little girl!
Hope your feeling better. Fall is coming my favorite fishing season. Crappie fisherman rule!!

The dynamic duo at it again! Wow! That first one that got away from Hook City was a good'n! 😮
Hey Ken, tell me about that umbrella setup please
Mike Bryant ikr I wanna know is it the regular mount that’s holding it I tried it but the wind blew it down
I was supposed to make a umbrella video last year.. I need to get on the ball. The umbrella is bought from academy as a picnic umbrella and the mount is made from pvc Very simple design and it works well
video coming soon
That's the way to cook fish for sure. I use grass fed butter, garlic powder and lemon pepper. Yum.
this was great.......... i will def'ly watch more of your channel......
Yessir!!!! Groceries!
Ken, two questions; why the 1/8 oz with no wind? And what’s the reason for the split shot please? thanks!!
simple. Heavier set up falls quicker. With the livescope you want it down there as soon as possible. Fish dont always sit still and when you see the one you want you better drop on it!

Try putting mustard and your favorite seasonings. Then put them in a air fryer. You will really enjoy the taste. God bless you and your family.
I'll try the air fryer again one day. I wasn't a fan the first 2 times I tried it
Lmao love the vibe of this channel man

That lil peace is the best...we do it the TEXAS way..
Have a nice day from southern Illinois
Shout out for using the bubba blade. I love mine. Best knife. Hands down

Thanks! The flavor was there the presentation was off. Ive only attempted a handful of times... A little practice and ill make another video
God bless you brother thanks for video and kids dont lie about food it was really good 🤙🏿🤙🏿🤙🏿
Get some moisture absorbers like they put in shoe boxes for the lemon pepper to keep it from clumping up.
Thank you!!!!!
Keep taking good care of yourself and your family bro,,, awesome videos,, thanks so much
Beautiful daughter, Fishing Queen? It's good dad.
its all about sacrifice, all depends on what you really want... great vids
For blackened fish you need to try Paul Prudhoomes seasoning . He almost wiped out the Redfish back in the day when he made blackened Redfish popular
Where can that be found!
@@HookCityTV Most grocery stores in South Louisiana have it . But Amazon has it as well . Also what model Humminbid unit do you use ? Im watching you and D catching bluegill on beds right now .

Sorry but I disagree, pork chops and steak are best done in a skillet, super hot, with some butter , crushed garlic, and salt and pepper, I've done it both ways, pan is best.
Amen to quitting drinking and smoking to get a rig like that!!!
You said......."you pay for cigarettes, you buy beer?"....perfect
Try Sauté in olive oil or for frying use corn oil, it’s heart healthy.
Dope show 🔥 keep these up.
I Use a combination of oil and butter to blacken it but it still looks good or you pan spray !!
I love your show
Use butter, olive oil, or margarine. And use paprika and black pepper.
Dude, two words - Fish Tacos!! fresh crappie filets, corn tortillas, salsa, avocados', cheese, maybe some ranch and it's on!!
I have a "Work Sharp" knife sharpener that I like. I recommend it. I have the original model that they still sell that works great.
Hook city looked sad when he missed that fish lol
Oh no daddy that fish gone...🦋🦋🦋
Try using avocado oil, it has a high smoke point and it's better for you.
Thanks man
Not into advertisements. But like the tips you throw out every once in a bit.
Thanks for working through them. They are necessary to keep me fishing and videoing!
Looks gud!!
Hook City you need them grits and cheese😄
Hook city I see u with the eastern hills high school shirt on fort wort tx baby

From da streets to da grease!.....👊
look great that way!!!
Way to go! 👍
Trying soaking them in hot sauce
Have you thought about trying out those air fryers?
ive tried a time or 2 seemed like i was messing up good fillets more than anything
give curry powder a try,,cooking on the charcoal or wood grill,,and a tad of soy sauce
noted, thanks for the tip
