oh my goodness I feel this. i can always tell my stories have gone too long and no one cares but then people feel bad and want me to finish so i just have to wrap it up and not care about telling it right or anything.
Im sweating from second hand social anxiety
This sketch is SNL's "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie" by Luis Bunuel. It might be one of their best short films.
Laurie is me at literally every dinner party.
And this is why my whole family and I all yell our stories at once..
I am Laurie. This happens to me at every gathering. I never finish my story. After years of the kind of behavior seen here, I don't even bother trying. I just nod and smile and let everybody else do the talking, such as it is....
lol. my worst nightmare.
Laurie Metcalf is one if the best. Most natural actors ever.
Oh my god I love this.😂
Oh how I love that satyre of snobbism
Laurie Metcalf is excellent in the her range of emotions, the background music is ideal even when the guy chokes out? What year was this, anyone?
🤣🤣 how uncomfortable was this to watch? Must’ve touched a nerve 😄
A forgotten classic.
It's Marcy!! You're bored out of your mind, you need a little adult supervision xD..
Usually if I think no one is listening to my story I throw in something ridiculous and completely unbelievable to test if people are paying attention and then they're not and I end the story. Something like "...and then we all ate the babies. Just stuck them in our mouths. With lemon juice, ah it's wonderful. And you know the best way to cook a baby..."
👍🤣
@PJ Jameson preferably before they start 'teething'
I'd just stop talking and act as if I said nothing 🤣
This shit happens to me all the time
someday I will host SNL
I hope you do! good luck!
do it! you got this. :)
RIP Douglas McGrath
Yeah pretty much anytime I try to tell a story
BTW there's just something about Laurie, she such a cutie
@@CUStudioFilms Now that you mention it, I get a chuckle at the thought of Thanos having trouble telling a story ; )
Who is the guy with the white hair ? I can't find any credits beyond Laurie and Catherine. I believe he's Fred but can't remember the last name or what I remember him from
Got it. Fred Newman. He was on Nickelodeon when I was a kid, among other things over the intervening years.
Aunt Jackie! She should be the next host for SNL
Pass-ta.
wtf happened
SNL used to be so inventive.
Zoe looks exactly like a young laurie
Laurie is Sheldon's mom from the Big bang theory
Stop stating the fucking obvious
@@darthilli 🖕
@@user-gi9ni8jf6i 😂😂😂😂
I have never seen Bang but to mention her in connection with that without mentioning "Rosanne" is an insult. She also deserved an Emmy for episode 3 of Louis CK's "Horace and Pete's".
Who was the woman smoking?
I am also curious, found nothing doing a quick search.
I feel like that was Phyllis Somerville but I'm not positive.
Louise Lasser (Mary Hartman Mary Hartman). It’s strange to me though that nothing on the internet confirms this. IMDB doesn’t even list her as “uncredited.” What’s even more interesting is that she hosted an episode of SNL back in 1976 that has some notoriety.
She’s brilliant. Endlessly watchable. Definitely check out her work.
@@industrialspiderwebs2427that is not Louise Lasser
This was back before they invented jokes. Once jokes were invented, Saturday night live got way better.
Anyone else notice Lori Metcalf got hotter when she got older! I never thought she was attractive on Roseanne but when she's playing Sheldon's mom in The big bang theory. She is damn attractive !
SNL could barely pull off sketch comedy, what made them think they could do Woody Allen style humor is beyond me
Man, Laurie Metcalf was hard on the eyes even when she was younger!
Worst skit ever
