Words to live by: if a faceless seller tells you that you will win something, you won't. End of story. And if you do recieve/"win" it, you'll end up paying it back to them in one way or another. That's just the basic art of entrepreneurism.
This is happening with Metallica now too. They recently announced a new album and people are running livestreams impersonating them, saying they'll grant people access to the album or crypto or god knows what else.
That's interesting, I think the whole focus on verified accounts really needs to be taken more seriously, especially as more streaming & digital purchases only becomes more common.

RUclips really needs to crack down on all these scam bots that appear everywhere, on almost every channel, trying to impersonate various RUclipsrs and telling people to click on them to claim/redeem some sort of prize. It's out of control and really annoying to see this all the time.
Yes it's an epidemic! Also people suggesting crypto currency advisors, who within 1 minute have 10 other people under that comment all saying how they are great & earned them so much money.
I'm glad you made a video on this. People in our age group have been able to witness just how predatory and pandering a lot of these ads have gotten over time with the birth of the internet as we know it. Very entertaining stuff
The weird thing about most of them Mrbeast promo channels is that in the channel description it says a different channel name in the link part, and its also usually a channel created in like 2010. Most likely meaning these promo things are random accounts that got hacked into these promos.
Bro, Scott is one of my favorite RUclipsrs solely because he’s just so entertaining to watch and listen to, even when he’s talking about more serious stuff like this.
Check the details on those ads, it says 'Romania' and some Romanian companies are putting out the ads. What a shocker. Why is RUclips allowing unlisted videos to play as ads anyways?
They're purposely 'stupid' to filter out people who would figure it out quickly. They want to appeal to those who are easy marks so they don't have to waste their time.
When you email him, please let him know that my friend a Persian Prince has an Uncle who is trying to take over West Africa and he needs to watch out. He might be able to get on the same boat to get out of the Continent.
People are so scared of scams these days. They accuse me of scamming them when I demand they pay me 50 dollars to cross the Brooklyn Bridge, which I legally own.
I honestly don't know how many times I've reported ads with the comment "please vet your ads", it's really obnoxious. It's been going on for years, but I can't help but feel it's been getting even worse. On top of worse, youtube has been cramming everything full with ads. I can't tell if they're desperate to get people to buy their YT TV, but it's reaching a point close to ioi from Ready Player One. "Maximum amount of ads inserted before seizures are induced!" I'm beginning to loathe the internet overall with all the blatant false advertisements and scams absolutely everywhere.
I think its ridiculous RUclips runs scams like this and does nothing about it. Just like oh sorry how did this get here? Is there no screening for their advertisement?! I STILL see the mr beast all the time and this video is over a year old.
If you notice the bottom left corner on the mobile games ads, they're all Cameo videos, so yeah, there's no chance in hell that Dr Cox from Scrubs and the one guy from The Office has played this game
Oh my god in so glad you made this video. I report these ads every single time. It’s such a shame they are still able to make these ads and the profiles are really good at making it hard to report
The problem is that we are working for yt for free by reporting them. They should be getting ads before approving them. The way to combat this us by ideally using another platform which realistically I won't even do, or by using an adblocker. Dont reward RUclips disrespecting its users like this. Let the scammers pay for their ads to go unseen.
I actually tried to report one of these ads and got an e-mail from youtube a few minutes later tellinv me they weren't going to do anything about it lmao
Normalised fake content is just rampant these days too which contributes to this “don’t trust anything” guard we need to have up. For example: There’s a TikTokker with nearly 5 million followers called Eloise Fouladgar but most of her videos consist of a setup of a fake crazy situation (“my plane did an emergency landing after I found a suspicious package in the toilet”) but then her part 2’s just straight up never get made. On a more serious note, she also has faked multiple stories about stalkers and situations where she’s in danger. For most people the videos are clearly fake, but for younger impressionable fans they get heavily invested in it whilst she’s shilling products to them on the side.
I kept seeing the ads, I clicked into them thinking that would mean that RUclips would target them at me over someone else who might fall for them. Glad to hear they are gone now! 😅
@@piss7610 well in the past when I click into ads I have seen that there is a larger chance that I got recommended them again… ALSO I JUST GOT ANOTHER MR BEAST AD TODAY!!! 😡

I was getting those game ads with cameo video type paid endorsements for a while. As I am an elder xellenial-type and, therefore, completely out of touch with current trends and celebrities, though, it did not occur to me that the fluffy gamer gentleman who was swearing the game was a real deal life changer and totally not a scam was supposed to be famous until you just mentioned it. I presumed generic local commercial actor. Learn something new every day, I guess. Now I almost hope I get that ad again so I can try to figure out who the hell that guy was, what his claim to fame is, and why the almighty algorithm assumed I'd care about his paid testimonial.
A year on, and its still a problem, I seen it alot over the past few weeks, and each time I see it I report it, and RUclips even remove it, but sadly, the scam is still live, they just make new accounts.
I think the best example of a mobile app company that obviously did false advertising was Evertale because they made the game look like it was a horror game, even going as far as stealing assets from both Pokémon and Omori (the Omori one being done back in 2020), when in reality it's a generic rpg style game with little to no horror element in the game. But the other mobile apps that make their games like a puzzle, a dress-up, a 'fix this thing with xyz', and many other types when in reality it's usually either a generic puzzle, dress up, or something else entirely type of game and its even more annoying because they're even showing in ads on mobile apps too so you can't escape them whatsoever
I don't pay much attention to these ads, but I have notice MrBeast's face appear in them a few times lately. One that I remember because I just saw it today said something along the lines of "Only click this if you need money for Christmas presents"
Sad thing is the same type of scammers are on Facebook too. I commented on one of his posts for a new video on Facebook, and not an hour later I literally had three responses from two different Jimmy Donaldson accounts and a MrBeast account asking me to DM them. Which really sucks because I'm about to get evicted and could really use the money they were promising.
Great video. I'd still like to see Scott do a video about the Zoboomafoo episode, Snakebellies, specifically the subplot with implied nudity. It's not so much that that's weird as it is that they'd have a subplot about the character of Zoboomafoo wanting the Kratt Brothers to get naked against their will. That's the kind of innocent yet dirty nostalgic weirdness for which I come to this channel.
Omg. John C. McGinley is a complete genius. I see that ad as more of a scathing review. Notice is head shaking while saying "he was glad he tried it." He got paid for it and went over their heads and promoted. But then I might be viewing it through his Scrubs character's mindset
Another killer video! I love hearing you talk about advertising, because you seem like someone with so much integrity however you have the inside know-how to tell us exactly why some advertisers are being scummy. Your videos help me engage with the online world in a better way, and I appreciate that and I appreciate you.
I always report the users who make the mr beast ads, but I still see little kids in the comments saying "can I still get the rewards? I'm 10" it's so sad 😭
Well, step 1 is you need to burn that phone now. Clicking on something that sketchy with a phone, which are all security nightmares full of about a billion holes, is tremendously unwise. Never click a link in ANY SMS (not even from companies you know are intending to send you a link to something, go to their webpage on an actual computer) or click any even slightly sketchy link with a phone browser. And if you ever download and run an APP? JFC. Well, your phone is now a bot and part of a botnet that is committing advertising fraud, pretty guaranteed. In the background, while you think nothing is going on, your phone is likely clicking ads, streaming videos, maybe installing other apps, scamming polls on Twitter, liking/disliking posts on Facebook, etc, etc, etc. You give over your phone to one of these scam operations and they will just use it for clickfraud. There is something you can, for yourself anyway... install an ad-blocker. Chrome stops letting you? Stop using Chrome. I recommend uBlock Origin, although there are a bunch of others. And read up about how to setup a "Pi Hole" on your network. You don't actually need a Raspberry Pi (although its an inexpensive way to set one up), I run mine on an always-on server in my basement. They block any device on your home network from even looking up the domain names for most advertising stuff. If you've just been raw-dogging the Internet this whole time, watching ads constantly, you will soon wonder how you ever lived any other way. You mention that they're "spending their money on you" and that it's "going down the toilet." Actually, no. They don't pay a CENT to target you with ads. Because of the way Internet advertising works, they only pay anything when people actually click on their stupids ads. Just getting your ad SHOWN to billions and billions of people, building you brand recognition, driving visits if they tell anybody about it, etc, the stuff that companies pay millions of dollars for in literally any other form of advertising, is totally free. For reasons I fail to comprehend, Google and other advertising companies only make you pay for verifiable click-throughs. It's insane and shouldn't be the way things ever work, but early on in the Internet days of banner ads, advertisers somehow convinced Internet companies that it should be free to stick their ads in the face of every single user who doesn't click. They're not about to start charging for that privilege and charge people based on view count instead of clicks. That would upset the entire marketplace. And sure it makes it cheap and easy for scammers to push out ads everywhere. They don't care. Those mesothelioma lawyers pay like $25 every time someone clicks one of their ads. That's all they care about.
This scam just returned where the page wants you to pay 10 bucks to get it and they want your address and stuff. I stopped because I didn't think giving my address would be needed to get money online
You can even tell on those ads you can click the 3 little dots and it will come up from out of the country. One literally just popped up on my home page about Mr beast based out of India and the advertiser is an Indian name. Like it’s fake as hell and I don’t get how it’s so obvious and nobody seems to be taking it seriously.
i got an ad very similar to this a few weeks ago. when i looked at the person who posted the ad it was from an unconfirmed account in india. i was able to report it as scam/fraud, but was anything done? who knows! the ads here in general are wyling and i don't believe anyone cares to screen them for quality or honesty.

I love subtlety.
Tbh I combed the comments to see if someone explained the joke lol
And if you look up what he (Jordan Fry) looks like now you will, in fact, find Scott Cramer.
I like how Scott either talks about stuff that’s like 20 years old or stuff that’s so recent that his videos are the first time I’m hearing about
I like that you mentioned that these scammers target vulnerable/not very tech savvy populations. I would even take it a step further and assert that the scam looking “obvious” to the demographic watching this video is completely intentional, as it allows the scammers to filter the traffic to their site such that the most vulnerable ($$$) users will click on it, but a general audience (---) won’t.
Ordered a 5 piece chicken strip meal but got 6 pieces and Scott posts. It's a good day
happy for u
Keep your head up King
That’s a good day indeed 😌
No struggling today 💪you go king
I got free fries with my burgers
I got an ad tight below the video, and it was one of the same Mr. Beast ads he was talking about in the video.
RUclips truly cares about the creator and viewer. They would NEVER just let anyone advertise whatever scam they wanted because their paying a lot of money.
LMFAO “why hasn’t Jayden checked on me “ lmfao I’m just picturing her living her happy life completely oblivious to her husband missing for weeks lololol
As a person with Dysautonomia, I really appreciate the awareness provided in this video 👌 Nothing better than mixing education with humor.
Same
I am having a really bad flare right now and am binging all these videos. I didn’t know that many people knew about it.
How often do you guys get concussions? Are you just banging your head on the floor all the time when you pass out, or do you feel it coming and so you sit down first to prevent injury?
@@cleigh3796 (I hope you don't mind the late reply) I don't have dysautonomia but I've had vasovagal syncope episodes throughout my life so hopefully I can sufficiently answer. It really depends on the person but for people like me who have dealt with them in the past, we know when its going to happen (getting tunnel vision, feeling lightheaded, nauseous, or dizzy) so we sit or lay down and tell somebody what is happening so they can help if we need it.
Concussions do happen but I would imagine its mostly to little kids or people who are having it for the first time since they don't realize the symptoms they're having will lead to them fainting.
tl;dr its usually pretty harmless, just annoying.
@@pierrottt5726 how long are you usually out for?
It’s sad that RUclips is proactive for corporations when they have a copyright complaint, or b.s. strikes, but is relaxed towards these scams!
They’re looking out for the REAL customers of this website. They get more money helping others scam people than from actual content creation. It isn’t even just Susan doing this, the corp as a whole is tainted.
Well well well...
SunnyV2 Not like us cover boutta go hard🗣️🔥🔥🔥
When Mista GG called him RUclips's sweetheart in his last video it just made sense to me because he's like one of my comfort you tubers and he has a genuine vibe about him imo. Like I found him through mista GG but I stayed for him.
RUclips doesn't do anything about these scams for months. But somehow they manage to find "38 Subscriber Dave" when there's a song without copyright permission playing in the background of his graduation party. Weird how things slip through they are when they're getting a cut of the action.
Scott, you should definitely do another “guess that cameo.” You’re a great game show host. And this video is fantastic. You and GG both are exposing scammy internet things, love to see it.
Words to live by: if a faceless seller tells you that you will win something, you won't. End of story.
And if you do recieve/"win" it, you'll end up paying it back to them in one way or another. That's just the basic art of entrepreneurism.
Except Mr Beast does this all the time where "it's too good to be true"
This is happening with Metallica now too. They recently announced a new album and people are running livestreams impersonating them, saying they'll grant people access to the album or crypto or god knows what else.
That's interesting, I think the whole focus on verified accounts really needs to be taken more seriously, especially as more streaming & digital purchases only becomes more common.
love that sound effect from the beginning of Yes - Roundabout
15:03 "Point out the scammy scumbags plz." You're a real one Scott, that's why we love ya. That and in-depth toilet paper suggestions.
Scott, just wanted to let you know that your channel is one of the best for my mental health. I am a highly sensitive person and consuming a lot of serious media or media centered around any kind of negativity can be really heavy on my mental health, even if I love the creator. But you and your videos are so wholesome. They are like comfort food for my brain. ☺️
I really appreciate your instructions about flagging spam comments! I always want to help creators and you made that really easy in a really simple way. Love your videos, happy holidays!
RUclips really needs to crack down on all these scam bots that appear everywhere, on almost every channel, trying to impersonate various RUclipsrs and telling people to click on them to claim/redeem some sort of prize. It's out of control and really annoying to see this all the time.
Agreed!
I love how well this aged, since I still get the MrBeast Ads and it is now 2024 xD
The weird thing about most of them Mrbeast promo channels is that in the channel description it says a different channel name in the link part, and its also usually a channel created in like 2010. Most likely meaning these promo things are random accounts that got hacked into these promos.
I had one that was genuinely a commercial spot. It was unskippable! Unskippable adds are expensive.
As a person of Romanian heritage, are they known scammers?
Scams are weird. How can they be both so stupid and so "clever"?(aka able to fool old people and kids)
Because old people and kids don’t know that it’s a scam.
They're purposely 'stupid' to filter out people who would figure it out quickly. They want to appeal to those who are easy marks so they don't have to waste their time.
They throw a bunch of scams out into the wild and hope that people fall for a few of them.
It's stupid people praying on stupid people
Because old people are essentially children 😂
Crazy I saw this scam again just today. I’ve seen it on and off for like a year now.
How could anyone fall for this? I'm gonna have to email my my friend about this. He's a Nigerian Prince

The "free 1000usd" is a immediate red flag
I thought this would have been gone by now, but I literally went into incognito and it was the first ad that popped up.
it's an endless game of whack-a-mole, and no matter how many times you report the accounts and they get terminated, they'll always come back.
finally someone talks about this, this ads been haunting me for like a month
I honestly don't know how many times I've reported ads with the comment "please vet your ads", it's really obnoxious. It's been going on for years, but I can't help but feel it's been getting even worse. On top of worse, youtube has been cramming everything full with ads. I can't tell if they're desperate to get people to buy their YT TV, but it's reaching a point close to ioi from Ready Player One. "Maximum amount of ads inserted before seizures are induced!"
I'm beginning to loathe the internet overall with all the blatant false advertisements and scams absolutely everywhere.
The best part of the video is when Scott says he wants to do another episode of guess that cameo...
I think its ridiculous RUclips runs scams like this and does nothing about it. Just like oh sorry how did this get here? Is there no screening for their advertisement?! I STILL see the mr beast all the time and this video is over a year old.
Thank you for not sharing the name of the app! You’re so right that they don’t deserve the press
Yeah the ads are up again... Dont think that RUclips even cares if nobody as big as mr beast draws attention to it
This video actually says a lot of the Scott Cramer lore.
I felt really sick today and you posted you just made me really happy. Thank you.

Something about seeing Dr. Cox in a scammy mobile game ad really took the wind out of my sails.
Same.
Saying Sports after Essentially the second time made me laugh out loud. Not sure why, but thank you for that.
Glad you talked about this. I’ve been seeing this mr beast ad wayyy too much. Especially during lockdown it went bonkers
I don't know why but the frequency of the bleep is really satisfying.
For most people the videos are clearly fake, but for younger impressionable fans they get heavily invested in it whilst she’s shilling products to them on the side.
oh... my... god... royal match ads are slowly eating away at my sanity I feel like a shell of a person I didn't know others experienced the pain
11:40 that is exactly how my grandma describes meeting my grandpa, lol. They were happily married 42 years before he passed.
I kept seeing the ads, I clicked into them thinking that would mean that RUclips would target them at me over someone else who might fall for them. Glad to hear they are gone now! 😅
That's not how that works lmao. There's no finite amount of ads. You just clicked scam ads for no reason.
@@piss7610 well in the past when I click into ads I have seen that there is a larger chance that I got recommended them again… ALSO I JUST GOT ANOTHER MR BEAST AD TODAY!!! 😡
@@piss7610 to be fair there's always a finite amount of money being spent on each advertisement, and on many platforms advertisers pay for how many times each ad is shown, but I'm not exactly sure of how it works.
@9:52 John C. McGinley reads the ad.
love the head shake when he talks about how "glad he is to have tried it" 👈👉👈↔
lol
I have been begging for someone to talk about this thank you!!!
A year on, and its still a problem, I seen it alot over the past few weeks, and each time I see it I report it, and RUclips even remove it, but sadly, the scam is still live, they just make new accounts.
I miss the good old honest days of Nigerian princes and AOL phishing.
But the other mobile apps that make their games like a puzzle, a dress-up, a 'fix this thing with xyz', and many other types when in reality it's usually either a generic puzzle, dress up, or something else entirely type of game and its even more annoying because they're even showing in ads on mobile apps too so you can't escape them whatsoever
dude every video youve dropped lately has been so good ur killing it!! and ur set looks great
Annnd this is STILL a problem 1 year later, I get those kinds of ads from time to time still.
I guess you could call him "Scam Cramer "

I’m literally dead
I don't pay much attention to these ads, but I have notice MrBeast's face appear in them a few times lately. One that I remember because I just saw it today said something along the lines of "Only click this if you need money for Christmas presents"
Thank you for teaching me what vasovagal syncope is.
4 months later and these ads are still everywhere
Gotta say, that intro is everything, great montage 😆 and for some reason the running gag of the scam plus the music makes me laugh 😂
2 months later, it's still live. And it's really tempting because giving some randoms online a 1000 dollars sounds like something Jimmie would do
Sad thing is the same type of scammers are on Facebook too.
Your videos help me engage with the online world in a better way, and I appreciate that and I appreciate you.
legend says the mr beast giveaway scam ads are still being shovelled on youtube to this day
they are, and youtube doesn't do diddly about them
I always report the users who make the mr beast ads, but I still see little kids in the comments saying "can I still get the rewards? I'm 10" it's so sad 😭
"Lowkey this makes me wanna do another episode of 'guess that cameo' " OHMYGOD PLEASE I'VE BEEN STARVING FOR THAT FOR SO LONG
They haven’t taken all of them down, I just saw one today. They should really get more on top of this
Well, step 1 is you need to burn that phone now.
The fact that RUclips™ still promoting this scam is really concerning
I'm GONNA BE RICH IM GONNA BE RICH I GOT IT A FEW DAYS AGO IM GONNA BE RICH!!!!!!!!!!!!
11:28 i love how they didn't edit out the Cameo watermark...dead giveaway lmao
I tell you RUclips does nothing for there ads, I've goten a very similar ad HUNDREDS of times and I still get it.
Reported it and everything and it's the same channel with the same ad
This scam just returned where the page wants you to pay 10 bucks to get it and they want your address and stuff. I stopped because I didn't think giving my address would be needed to get money online
Literally got this ad while watching this video, a year after it's been posted. . .
The “Essentially…. (Sports)” joke was top notch 5:51
i got an ad very similar to this a few weeks ago. when i looked at the person who posted the ad it was from an unconfirmed account in india.
i was able to report it as scam/fraud, but was anything done? who knows! the ads here in general are wyling and i don't believe anyone cares to screen them for quality or honesty.
