I had the mini tabletop version, to this day the bleeps and jingles are still etched in my head and I bitterly regret losing it while moving houses when I was 6.
1:49 Simply awesome! It brings so joyful memories. 🎵“I’m strong to the finish ‘cos I eat me spinach, I’m Popeye the Sailor Man..PIP, PIP!”🎵 Thanks for sharing this video!
I had this actual tabletop game as a kid. If i recall correctly it took 2 C batteries. And it had an alarm clock function i used to wake up with. Wow. Takes me back to a simpler time.
I must've had over a dozen game and watch games when I was a kid. And this was one of my favourites. Sadly, the only one I still have is Mickey and Donald.
I still own one of these. The only thing is that I only played “Game A” (without that swordfish). Might try “Game B” (increased difficulty; swordfish) at some point.
Just played this for the first time today. This is a surprisingly fun game, definitely has a kind of Smash Bros feel to it, no joke. Love getting that spinach can and uppercutting that kidnappy Bluto s.o.b. right onto that meat hook. Good stuff Nintendo.
Hi there. would it be okay if I used a small clip of this on a video I am working on? I will make sure to credit your channel in the video and the description info. let me know. Thanks.
Hi thanks for the artwork. I managed to get it working but the screen became so small with the whole console layout on the screen. Before installing this artwork I could get the full screen but without any colour. Able to share how do you get only the full screen without the console and buttons artwork just like this video? Thank you.
@@old80s59 thanks, I managed to find it under "Advanced Options" and set "Artwork Crop" to ON. However, game play became very slow, sluggish and unplayable so I have to change it back. Definitely not like yours in the video.
Yep, this is running on MAME. The latest version will work. Look for the gnw_popeyep rom (can't directly link it here for obvious reasons), place it in the roms folder to get it working. Artwork is optional but necessary if you want the sprites to look colorful, it should go in the artwork folder.
@@old80s59 ignore that, jus saw a link in your video, amazing, thank you! i got retroarch working with the game but i needed the artwork. with retoarch you need to set the softlists option to off otherwise the game doesnt load.
can somebody please provide a link to download the rom for this lovely retro game? been hunting for it since ages. would really appreciate it. I am currently using retroarch

I loved this game, more than the actual arcade game.

Yes!! Sweet Pea would be shown ringing a bell when the alarm went off.
Only two G&Ws left until they're all a part of MAME! :) Looking forward to Donkey Kong 3 especially.
Yep! I'm excited for the last two!
Hola

I believe you can set the artwork to "Screen Only" in the "Video Options" in MAME.

Yo todavia tengo mi table top y lo uso como reloj y despertador y aveces lo juego y como adorno se ve bonito 😅😅😅😅😅😅
bought mine a couple of weeks back for 160 euros(no box). I am a Happy kid again
Congrats on driving up the price for nostalgia. These things used to be way cheaper, so thank you for ruining the hobby for people.
Yo, I'm getting a Donkey kong one
I have one of these consoles if anyone is interested
I am interested. Pls get in touch deepakgm@gmail.com
The gameplay is similar to another Game & Watch game, “Boxing.”
I was gonna say it reminds me of Urban Champion.
