Juliana Carver's 23rd Birthday (December 4, 2024)

Today, December 4, 2024, our Juliana should be turning twenty-three years old. Instead, she’s at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg Maryland where she has been since October 2016 when she was just fourteen years old.
I remember when I saw a photo of Juliana for the first time (known as Irina at the time) in 2002. She had crossed eyes and was so tiny. She grabbed my heart in a way I did not understand until months later when she became our daughter.
What would she have become since October 2016?
Would she have become the Chef that she wanted to be or, maybe, became interested in another career path?
Would she have been married by now? Would she have given birth, or adopted, her first child?
What would have been the names of her children? Her Grandchildren?
What else would she have accomplished?
Instead, between 2007-2016 Juliana fought pediatric cancer EIGHT TIMES. EIGHT TIMES!!!
I miss her hugs, smile, her positive attitude and her incredible laugh.
There is no reason why she should be gone forever. Part of our family is missing.
Here are some words of wisdom from Juliana:
I just asked Juliana, "What are some of the characteristics of a champion?" She said, "don't complain, be brave and have courage." (September 8, 2012 - Fighting cancer for the third time)
“No hill is going to push me down.” (September 22, 2012 - Fighting cancer for the third time)
“I’m not a giver-upper.” (October 4, 2013)
“Whining is for babies.” (December 31, 2014 - Fighting cancer for the fourth time)
“You gotta do what you gotta do to make it work.” (July 12, 2015 - Fighting cancer for the 5th time)
“I wish this (cancer) would go away.” (October 16, 2016 - Fighting cancer for the eighth time)
“I’m locked and loaded…don’t mess with me…I’m a tough cookie.” (October 18, 2016 - Fighting cancer for the eighth time. Six days later she died at the age of fourteen)
Pediatric cancer needs to be destroyed.
Juliana deserved more out of life!
Juliana just wanted to be healthy and to become a Chef when she grew up.
I PROMISED JULIANA THAT I WOULD NOT LET THE WORLD FORGET ABOUT HER AS LONG AS I AM ALIVE.
WE MUST DISCOVER CURES FOR PEDIATRIC CANCER!!
