can you react to History of philippines in 12 minutes ?so that you can see why we can relate to you
Filipinos and Latinos are not the same but we have similar histories due to colonization from Spain. To say this would be disrespectful to my ancestors! Please, lets focus on the facts. The filipino's Spanish last names come from European people who lived in Spain. Some Spaniards mixed with the Asian people who already lived in the Philippines. And many filipinos don't have Spaniard last names. I'm latina but i have filipino friends. This is not a hate comment.
I'm a 46yr old white Afrikaans guy from South Africa. we also grew up with vicks everything lol
I had a foster brother from the Philipines. His name was Valentino. I don't remember his last name, but I bet it sounded Spanish like his first name. And he had the same beautiful curls you both have. He was a troubled teen, but I was too young to get all of that. My brother and I thought he was just a lot of fun to have around. He only stayed with us for 6 months, but often came back just to check in and say hi. Growing up was rough for him, but he had a good heart.
I'm Filipino and my last name is "Juliano" which means in English is a bearded young man, also my great great grandfather was a Spanish man and one of the soldiers who where sent in the Philippines to colonize the country
Dela Cruz😂😂😂😂😂😂
Dela Fuente😂😂😂😂
Yeah, if you ever see an Asian lookin dude and he has a Latino name, he's almost certainly Filipino. I'm Filipino with a Latino last name and I've been mistaken for nearly every Asian nationality. I've been called the Asian Imposter by friends... :)
I'm Dutch and we kinda have a bond like that with Indonesia. It may have started it kinda F-ed up, but in the end we use words from each other's language in our own language. And Dutch kids grow up with nasi goreng and saté ajam almost as part of Dutch food. Many Indonesians also live here in the Netherlands. My brother started a family with an Indonesian girl. Now she comes with Indonesian dishes I've never even heard of! lol
Jo Koy has another Netflix Special coming on June 4 called Jo Koy : Live from Brooklyn
Watched it last night…it was lit 🔥
Philippines was initially ruled by Spain throughMexico. Another thing is, the Galleon Trade for 200 years. Some Mexicans migrated to the Philippines, and possibly Filipinos did the same in Mexico.
These are the main reasons why Mexicans and Filipinos are like fraternal twins out of all former Spanish colonies.
250 years to be exact
Dude, that includes all central and south american countries.
333 years to be exact.
That 'STFU!" moment makes me erupt into laughter every time.
I think the philippines is just a foster child of asia. The real brothers and sisters of the filipinos are the latinos and their mom is in europe spain hahaha. Remember in asia only the filipinos celebrates the FIESTA alone, meanwhile all their brothers in south america enjoying the fiestas together hahaha.
She's right, she is the star.
my mother covered us in vicks in the winter and I am from Scotland, love the channel
Latinos and Filipinos ate very religious/spiritual ppl and family oriented, too.
we valie thr women in the family and education is very important, so is family honor.
Love Jo Koy! I’m Mexican & Filipino so I can relate!🤣
🇵🇭 Another Pretty Fact: in the Southern Provinces, there's a Family of Spanish Era clan named Torres.
At Lucy Torres' wedding, I watched her Family especially her Dad who really is of Spanish blood.
Daughter is the Pretty Lucy Torres (Married to a Filipino Hunk idol named Richard Gomez. Both of them are Models. Look them up). Really a very pretty couple.
ha ha ha . Thats jokoy . I love him. Whats his talking is true. thank you guys for this.
I grew up in Vicks Vaporub too ❤️ from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Jo koy is funny
Back wit another banger, I love y'all
YO!! YOOO!!
I'm 40 seconds in. The video didn't even start! I like the vibes, you two bring. Auto like and subscribe. Let's get into it then!
Hi. I'm a Filipino. I love ur reaction to jokoy. Just a suggestion.try reading our Philippine history. All ur questions will be answered.
As early as the 60s, Immigration categorized Filipinos as belonging to the Hispanic race. The definition was broad. But we are so similar, the government couldn’t tell us apart. 😂
Well actually there is a Mexican blood to every Filipino and a Filipino Blood to a Mexican. The reason is there was a galleon trade from Manila to Acapulco by Spain. This galleon trade lasted for 200 years .some Mexicans went to Manila and never went back. The same with Filipinos. Those who arrive at Acapulco settled and live there. It was only forgotten when Mexico revolted from independence against Spain and Spain cut the trade for fear that the Mexicans will help the Filipinos for independence. Thats the reason why we look alike
I'm Filipino and can relate. You guys are funny ❤😊
the only thing I wish we didn't forget as a filipino is the spanish language. it would be nice if we still spoke spanish and not just english. we would have been tri-lingual
Hehe, I wish I could still speak Tagalog. My fam moved to the States when I was 4 and my parents only spoke English to us so I only know the most common Tagalog phrases like kakain na or bahong utot mo...
My son plays soccer and his one spanish teammate asked him "If you're Filipino why is your last name Reyes?"
My last name is Domingo. When I was in school, students always joke around that it's not Sunday yet 😂
😂 that’s too funny
Yeah man, recognize who the star of the show is! 🤩 haha ...and yeah, I grew up with Vicks all over me, and still use it - it works!
🇵🇭 Fun Fact: There's place in Manila called the Intramuros, used to have a Spanish Fort called Fuerza de Santiago. Letran de Manila school is in there too (I yhink its started by those early Spanish priests or something).
Roads here are made of cobblestones as if you're really in the Spanish Era even before Jose Rizal.
Now, at that part of the city, I think its a City Ordinance that any New Building, Or even old buildings for repairs should be constructed with still a Touch of Spanish era design to preserve the Cultural and Historical value.
The Manila Cathedral is there. There's also a smaller church in there that I was surprised to see the Floors are made of well polished Spanish Era Tombstones! Its true! And you can read the names and dates dating back to the Spanish Era (1900 - below ).
Yeah 👍 I'm Filipino 😅
We are homies bro.❤
There were more Mexican immigrants in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial rule…I think my abuelo is a Mexican…they don’t look like Malay or indo…but I got Chinese too…my ancestors worked for Manila Galleon traveling from California/ Mexico to Manila…
I sometimes joke that we Filipinos are Pacific Latinos. So much in common and the last names on both my parent's sides are Spanish. The N in our last name has thesquiggly line over it!
He should let his girl talk... bruh.. this mans laugh is always relatable . the man pauses for Algorithms
The lady is the look alike of Joanne Cusack❤😊

I vote you both need to get a Boba drink (with black tapioca pearls) for a reactionary video since you seem unaware what JoKoy is talking about!! There are tons of flavors you can try, and they're pretty readily available at malls. I'd love to see your reactions, plus you'd get the joke a lot better!
Mexicans were brought to the Philippines by the Spanish and Filipinos to Mexico. Mexicans were assimilated to Philippines culture and vice versa
1898 treaty of paris. Spain lost the Spanish American war and relinquished their territories to America. Guam, Puerto rico and Philippines
We all got it from the freaking Spaniards
Definitely do a video review of Anthony Jeselnik. You guys gotta watch the dropping babies skit.
Hell growing up our Mom used to make us eat Vicks, so we learned not to cough or sneeze around our Mom cause we knew she was going right for the Vicks! Once we got older we realized your not supposed to eat that shit so it became a joke that our Mom was trying to kill us.
If you've ever seen the movie Domino, that's Mexilpino.

That's true the pilipino's last name came from latin . even mine. Lorenzo is my last name. Which is Latin words.
Dang right we are all brown in a different shade and it is scientifically proven Chico and Chica.
Is it the video or did you guys have to lower the pitch of Jo Joy’s video to avoid copyright?
Thank you for catching that yes we uploaded this video so many different ways so we had to change the voice and the video so we could put it out. It was blocked where we couldn’t upload it.
😅😅
here's actually a fun fact about mexico and philippines.
did you know that mexico and philippines was suppose to be one country. General Vicente Guerrero , mexico's 2nd president had filipino troops volunteered to gain mexico's indepence against spain. his 2 second in command were both filipino and from the province of Ilocos Sur , La Union. Guerrero had plans to Unify Philippines and Mexico , and not surprisingly a lot of Filipinos were up for it seeing they are more closer to each other than their colonizer Spain.
but a las it never come to fruition , after Philippines got their indepence they had to deal with british , france , germany and USA. it completely drained their capability to fight back and with mexico as well just lost a chunk of their land against USA their unification plan was scrapped.
one could wonder though what if the two did unify , what could have been if USA didn't stepped in and interfere.
oh andd another fun fact , there's a small county in the municipality of Pampanga called Mexico , it's suppose to be a gift for mexico after they helped philippines fight off the japanese in ww2. it's suppose to be a state controlled by mexico but mexico declined the offer.
Very interesting! Thanks for the info😊
It doesn't make sense that the phillipines and mexico would become one country because they are separated by the gigantic Pacific ocean. No hate whatsoever, this is just an exaggeration.
@@Catcvcv ? you do know that philippines was under mexico's viceroy? so they were technically already operating as one country before.
@@maosama3695 it sounds like it was a territory of spain through mexico. Mexico and Philippines are far away from each other. You are making it sound like the countries are next to each other like Ukraine and Russia. And it sounds like this event was short lived. I have filipino friends i'd like to add.
@@Catcvcv 330 years of galleon trade isn't a short lived thing. their governor general were always from mexico. their resistance fighters were all sponsored by mexico.
distant won't be a factor , they were already doing it being officially unified is only formality at that point.
spain granted mexico exclusive access to the philippines , they were the only out of all the colonies had ties with the philippines cause of you know cuba exist , it's a whole can of worms i won't go to detail with it.

its a comedy youre overanalyzing it lol
@@lazojones1 I'm not sure what this has to do with you, Jones?
everyone uses Viks but not like the filipinos do
Not really, in terms of looks, mexicans mostly look like native americans, while filipinos are mostly austronesians, like indonesians and malaysians. Religion aside, when it comes to culture, traditions, food and customs, filipinos gravitate more towards chinese.
Its not true ...surname SIBAYAN...AND ILANG ILANG is not spanish surname ..
I agree with you and i'm latina. These people don't know what they are talking about. Not all filipinos have Spaniard last names.
Maybe it depends where you grew up in the Philippines. Most of my relatives here in Bulacan have the surnames like dela Cruz, Santos, Santiago, Pascual, Varilla, Canoza, Herrera, Hizon and the list goes on..all of which are not Filipino surnames. It’s seldom that I have encountered a Filipino surname among my peers and classmates.
@@Catcvcv, Filipinos are a mixture of different races. We are diversified. We have mostly Spanish last names, then Chinese, and American. Sometimes us Filipinos will combine Spanish, Chinese, and American to form a surname. We also have native last names of indigenous people of the Philippines. The reason why most Filipinos have Spanish last names was because Spain had conquered and occupied the country for 300 plus years and converted most of them to Catholicism and were given Spanish last names.
@@divt2445 thank u! Ok but when u talk about American, that's not a race. And i think you are talking about American-Filipinos who were born in the usa? You should keep american born separate from the real filipinos who were born in Philippines.
@@Catcvcv , you are overthinking. If you carefully read my comments, I was referring American last names. However, to answer your question, the five racial categories that are listed on the U.S. census today - American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and White - have been in place since 1997., Americans are the citizens and nationals of the United States. Racial and ethnicity categories somewhat overlap with each other.
