People don't realize that Silas actually finds homes for lotsa Cars/Trucks, plus parts, while others crush everything they buy that people don't see.
As a car enthusiast I could cry seeing you crush some of these cars, but I also understand the economics of junk vehicles. People always want some of these scrappers, but will back off at any reasonable asking price. The antique/vintage car/truck game is expensive!

This was the first time I seen your channel. Years ago I worked in a junkyard in Leadville Colorado. And watching you crush cars brought back memories. I know it's a lot of work making sense of it all. But after two years the yard was organized. But then again that was 40 years ago. Not even sure if the junkyard in Leadville still exist. Stan the boat up on the back in which is the stern so that water or anyting else will not contaminate anything else on the boat I would myself replace the wood with something looking so beautiful varnished and stained !

you're getting downright snazzy with the editing, Silas. :) So the boat's a '59 model. Google-sleuthing tells me that might be a kinda rare boat. Only 100 of them were built in '57 per Starcraft. Vintage boat guys might get excited about this one.

Interesting to note how vehicle title transfers work in the US. Over here in the UK we would simply apply for a new V5 registration document if the old one is nowhere to be found.

Those screws on that Cordoba radio are Chrysler's little factory nightmare anti theft device, They make a special tool for them but I have no idea where to find one.

Back in the 80's Snap On made a socket to fit those Chrysler radio security screws. I remember Mr. Snappy telling me each week that I needed one. I must have replaced 100s of Chrysler and Dodge radios and then I had two cars come in on the same day needing that dang socket. Some like that Cordoba had plenty of room to get "other" tools in there to make it work, others were a little tighter and so I finally bought one of the sockets.

The radio screws are called tri-wing and those are factory installed.
I’ve pulled the temp controls and radios out of probably 200 70s-90s mopar products and I’d never seen them. I see why people throw then away and replace them.
That Ford F-150 and Tundra are easily 10k +++ trucks here in Texas. Over 20k crushed there. Even parted out those parts would have sold lighting quick. Those trucks were not even that old!
The mustang 11 made merry parts here in Indiana are hard to fine in good shape Or they want way to much. I got two cars and would love get them running again.

If most people who owned these yards you & your father are buying from had only bothered too advertise their inventory to the entire nation, most of these cars & parts could have avoided the crusher.
Between the crusher & those whom only desire too part out cars & trucks, we the restorers are feeling SQUEEZED OUT & LEFT OUT OF THE LOOP until its too late...that last possible minute where we the restores must remorgage our house just too meet these IMPOSSIBLE RANDOM DEADLINES.

The Mustang II and other similar clasics, should be set out front along the highway. Like a used car lot. Perhaps a movie of the clasic car lot? Ask 3 times the scrap price.

In the salt belt a late model F-150 with no rust, dents, and clean paint would have never been thrown away. Shame on the person who sold it to you. I have to admit I shed a tear for that one. As for the others. Sometimes junk is junk. Better to recycle then to have them just rot away back into Mother Earth. Thank you for the videos.

Silas, those funky looking bolts in the Cordoba for the radio, those are the original bolts Chrysler use those during the 80s for the radios. It takes a a special socket to remove them.

Security screws, very common OEM installed in the 1980's. Keeps your stereo in your car.
At the end of the day you’ve saved so many classics that the way you did the caddy was likely the best for its condition. Keep up the great work and videos!

You should try "Gfuel" energy drinks. Most flavors have 200 mg. of caffeine and not too much niacin. They are all sugar free and that could be a problem if you don't like artificial sweeteners. I like them but they are hard to find. They can be ordered online.
Silas I worked at a Ford Plant back in the early 90’s There was a guy who worked there was friends with Henry Ford back in the day he had the first or second Mustang II off the line. It was a beautiful bright blue with white strips V8 stick. Mind you in the early 90’s this old fella must have been well in his 80’s.

Sometimes a car enthusiast needs to recognize that pieces of cars they cut up or salvage will live new more exciting lives in cars that need them. It’s a hard job but it must be done.
Crushing up some nice looking trucks my buddy rented a crusher back in the day he did that kind of work I used to work with him but he has passed away good money in the scrap metal some time his hands would get sticky
Googled the boat near as i can tell its circa 1957, the pics that came up look just like it.. (starcraft ski champ 14') was what i googled
@adventuresmadefromscratch crystal light makes a caffeinated water flavoring with ul only 60mg if caffeine per serving for when it's hot out and hot want to drink water. The store brand around here has 120mg per serving, so there's that as well and a lot cheaper than buying energy drinks.

Now we know what happened to all the Corsica’s- they were not a rare car and fairly good styling for the ear... and of course that Corinthian Leather. There were some larger engines stuffed into a few but I’ve never seen one at a cruise in. Maybe they all went that way. Had a 76 Mustang in college - I remember it was a 3 speed stick. Sort of- , wouldn’t stay in gear in second unless you held the shifter . Not one of my favorites, I think I gave it to my GF at the time and was glad to see it go

That serial number on boat makes 1959 that would of been my Guess late 50 early 60's before you read serial number. As far as crushing goes totally you're call your business you save a lot more than I probably would great job always interesting to watch what you do

5: 39 Mustang 2 front subframes [ in 2024 still, yes they do. Especially now that mechanics & skilled laborers are making CRAZY WAGES us po folks can't afford to pay. ] are desired by car modders for cross platform in Tn., possibly all boardering states. The engines & trandmissiins get sold prity quickly in Tn.
The front bucket seats are desireable to some as well.
Electric buckets aren't for everybody. Manuel is jump in & go time. Less time spent on one's butt & more time focussed on the car. 😁❤
In Northern states Mustang 2 had a different name. This was a luxury model of sorts.
I liked the buckets in them, for their design.

My Dad had Caddy's most of my childhood until the Oil 🛢 Embargo, so I got a soft spot for them. Trying to restore that old girl would be cost prohibitive,(undesirable 4dr.)so glad it will live on as a couch/wall hanger, and glean some small pieces for someone's restoration ! You're so right about the Muskrat 2. There are affordable aftermarket generic ELECTRIC POWER STEERING kits for sale nowadays, and like you say, all rack & pinon & suspension parts can be bought brand new

It is a shame seeing some of that stuff get fed to the crusher like the f150 and the tundra but what do you do? Can’t just hang on to it forever. It’s especially painful for me watching parts I need get smushed, we have no wrecking yards nearby. Kansas is just a bit far to drive right now with gas being a gazillion dollars a gallon.

Just an opinion, you might want to pull them motors out.... You get more because they are solid steel scrap... It's worth more....i have scrap yard experience, not that it means anything but you could make a lot more money.... Just saying.. what state you in.... Just curious.
