It's a really nice finale. So i guess this means now we're entering the legend arc
mayhaps so, considering the legend toy leak thats floating around.
A really great episode, love that everyone got a chance to shine and seeing Geryon finally taken down. Dread Type 2 (and subsequently 3) is a cool design and I dig the kanabo (I believe that's what the oni club weapon is for) it brings. Professor Kyoka calling Professor Minato out, holding onto the memories they erase from others and transmuting those precious memories into an even greater treasure is a fantastic takeaway.
"Ichinose...! Sorry I'm late!" - Professor Minato
After everything Geryon did to him, the emotional blackmail, manipulation, it's so satisfying to see Minato stand up for himself strongly and fight him alongside his students.
Platinum Gotchard looks very clean, my favorite part of it has to be Crosshopper doing a rider kick alongside Houtarou, 100/10.
These two points from this week's episode blog summary were the ones most interesting for me:
[-For those who were thinking "Is Geryon stupid?? Why does he keep sending Malgams?? All they do is lose and get captured by the enemy!!": That's the whole point. Geryon's plan was not about gradually capturing Chemies, it was about making Houtarou fight. All for the sake of the growth of the Gotchardriver (the key). The only pieces Geryon needed to open the Door of Darkness were the 10 Level 10 Chemies as materials, the Dreadriver as furnace and the Gotchardriver as key. The other Chemies were just additional materials, and so, as long as the key had grown strong enough, the Door could still be opened even without the 101 Chemies.
-The 3-eyed monster located behind the Door of Darkness, Hermes Trismegistus. "3" is an important number in alchemy (hence the triangle-shaped hand sign during the Riders' henshin pose). According to Geryon, he has the power to turn everything into gold, but is that true? Stay tuned! Also, what about Atropos and Geryon’s cube? Lachesis? Stay tuned!]
interesting that geryon is the one who uses the club, cause his whole plan is kinda blunt ya know. but yea minato showing you can come back is a nice thing.
and hey if you actually go frame by frame on the kick, not only is crosshoper there, but tenliner is in the leg, meaning it is all three of them trully working together to do that rider kick. platnam is such a strong suit, visually and thematically.
that makes the whole show so far really interesting, especially with their differences in world view. both of their goals, getting the right amount of power and helping chemmys were opposed but also complementary.
oh so that is the creatures real name. honestly i kinda liked calling it el derado. but yeah hermes is related to alchemy so it makes sense. but on the three thing, three main riders, three abyss sisters, three side friends (renge, sabimaru, the alien friend), three past heroes (kyoka, minato, the one friend who died), three parental figures (rinnes dad, hotaros dad, and geryon). huh...
Yeah I noticed the fact that this episode definitely feels like a finale to I even brought it up on your discord server so that's really cool I like that little detail but I want to add the fact that this isn't the first time gotchard has done this every ending to a arc in this show feels like it could have been the finale with only a few things left unresolved I am happy that the show is hopefully going to answer our questions in the next arc and the finale arc as for this episode itself it was really good it really does feel like the show is fully letting us know what it's trying to say also that ending with the main villain guy was super interesting I do not think he's dead I think he is going to come back hopefully not right away since I would like to have a build up to it but that's really all I have to say (this is my longest comment yet my Lord)
yeah gotchard is very arc based, makes sense cause hotaro is a hot blooded shonen protag.
yeah geryon aint gone yet, derado has something planned
I hope Renge and Sabimaru get Rider belts at some point, they can't be hangers-on forever.
And i was right to call the Steamliner/Unicon/Daiohni Dread form Type 3!
Big E (Warhammer TTS) might relate with Geryon for the reverence of gold being the best.
CrossHopper is precious, especially when sat in the Tenliner and peeking out of the Platinum chestplate
Her being part of the Rider Kick is adorable aswell ^_^
Also thinking of Dread again; each form is Type 0/1/2/3 etc, spoken as Zeroshiki/Ichishiki/Niishiki/Sanshiki etc, which just reminds me of the Mobile Suit named Zeroshiki from the Gundam franchise. That MS is related to another MS called the Hyakushiki/Type 100 and is a golden MS. Who in the show is obsessed with gold? Geryon so Dread could very well get a Type 100 final form while referencing Gundam. :P
Fair point about the Goku trained to be strong while Frieza had it naturally.
Also you didn't talk about the gaps in the arranged cards.
maybe not in the show, but i can see them getting movie exclusive belts. unless they do another mass production rider thing.
love the peaking up of crosshopper. its a fun detail and makes this super serious suit have a little light hearted element. reminds me of gear 5 luffy.
i wouldnt doubt any gundam references, cause of how they are both related to bandai sooo...
maybe those last few spots are for final upgrade stuff?
A solid finale type episode a good introduction for both dread type 3 and Platinum got hard which are both vewy nwice suits. I like how all during the battle as you said everyone is fighting/doing something. Only thing I didn’t like is that the triple rider Henshin felt like it didn’t hit sadly maybe a future one will. And Geryon’s motivation/plan was certainly…. Original let’s say 😭💀 I didn’t think it would be turning the entire world to gold😭. Also, WHERE THE FUCK IS L-L-LEGEND?! 😭💀🙏So Overall a very solid and nice episode 7/10.
As for theories the whole 1904 thing apparently Japan had a war with Russia during the time or something but I don’t think that whole 104 years ago thing has anything to do with real life stuff. I think that’s when the original kamen rider fought off El Derado (which means like a golden civilizations apparently just in case you didn’t know which fits.)
agree the group henshin didnt hit as hard as it could. i think it may be because of the train house thing, it kinda clashes with the others.
geryon motivation is neat, cause it is that destroy the world villain stuff. but you can see why he came to that conclusion, there is no way to agree with him, but you can see why someone messed up like him could think that makes sense.
hmm, that number just feels too specific...maybe 1904 isnt the thing to look out for but 120 years being it. like maybe something about base 12 counting. but then ya might thing about a gross (a dozen dozen)
BOY OH BOY DO I HOPE HOUTARO GOT THAT REST HE NEEDED AFTER HE geryOWNED GERYON
Also of course geryOwned says "El dorado...." as he dies
yeah el dorado totally fit in with his whole loving gold schtic
