    So the 2024 the vortex will not work because the wiring harness just changed from a three prong to a 4 prong so it's not a change to the ECU it's a change to the wiring harness Now I did call vortex and they said they're working on one that hopefully will come out next year

    100% different perspective on why the Raptor is the ultimate trail rig. Everyone knows it’ll rip but the way you broke it down to show it’s complacency for new riders also was on point. It can be a friendly foe in the right hands or a murderous beast with a Viking as the pilot!!!!

    I bought a 2007 SE new, and it has been, by far, my favorite ATV of all time...and I've had and ridden a lot of them. Did the big 3 to it and rode it as much as I could. It always put a smile on my face no matter the day. Most memorable was a group ride with 25 4x4 ATV's at the Hatfield-McCoy trails over a long weekend...me being the only 2wd sport quad in the bunch. Everyone rolled their eyes at the Raptor, thinking I was going to slow them down, when in fact, I was always right in the middle of the bunch (usually waiting on a broke down Polaris). Hillclimbs, mud, creeks, rocks...nothing could stop the Raptor. Sadly, my friend sold his 600 acres, and the forest service closed down the closest trail system, so that made the WV trails at 2+hrs away the closest place to ride. I had to send it down the road and opt for a street bike instead.

    • @DirtObseXXion

      Right on! I've been to HM on the Raptor more than any other machine, always a blast! Nothing beats a big private area, we lost ours a couple years ago, so I get it. Nothing wrong with 2wheelers! I have a R1250 GSA and a 250l, love 2wheel rippin!

    • @boost1728
      @boost1728 5 месяцев назад

      There used to be, and nobody bought them. Their lack of availability is due to excess supply and limited demand. Their profit wasn’t even covering cost of R&D let alone manufacturing (to include parts cost, millions a year in labor, tooling cost…) it just didn’t make sense to continue producing them. Solution: take good care of the older models that are still available on Craigslist and marketplace so we can enjoy them for a few more decades. Or just buy a SXS.

    Bought my first new raptor in 2004 660r (limited edition) off the showroom floor and soon after, jetted and piped it. After several years if enjoyment, I sold it and bought a powder puff 08 raptor 700r that was already piped, tuned and several other goodies. It was so much better than the 660r. Noonget have it, but if I bought a quad tomorrow, it'd be a YFZ450r or another Raptor 700r. Great video informing potential new sport quad riders the ease of ability when it comes to such a powerful machine👌

    Great video and agree with everything you stated. I just picked up a 24 700r about 3 months ago and have taken a Dune trip to Little Sahara OK. Raptors are amazing trail bikes but also perfect for the dunes as well. I'm in the middle of a Big 3 install right now and already planning my next Dune trip to hopefully St Anthony ID (and Yellowstone while I'm up there) come April/May next year. I really wish that Sport ATVs would make a come back as they truly are the purest form of "fun" off road riding on 4 wheels IMO. Yamaha may have not made any changes to the YFZ and Raptor over the last decade, but in truth they don't have too. These are still wonderful machines to enjoy and have proved their reliability.

    You are so dead right about the raptor it’s I love em and a proud owner of the 2021 700r it’s the hole package you can ride along slow with your wife on her 4x4 and you can also rip it in the open field where you gotta pay 15k for a renagade to keep up. Even Alfred the big 3 it’s far cheaper then them 1000s and it’s just as fast in a lighter way more fun package. Best sport quad ever made 100% even got the numbers to back it up. If your a person on here looking to buy a raptor I recommend you do cause all its going to take is one jam of the throttle and you will never look back! I love the dedication to sport quads on this channel .Great vid guys as always

    Love the Raptor. I’m worried about the prices. They just keep going up. Then you add the dealer add ons. I think for prices now they need to do a major update. I’d love to see them increase the width to 50 inches wide and maybe a new plastic design. They also need to bring back the Raptor 250. Maybe make a slightly smaller Raptor 400cc adult model with a better price point.

    I know of a 2006 Yamaha Raptor 700 for sale for $3000. and this video just might helped me make the decision to purchase it. although I was sorta hoping there would have been some general pricing? so I can be sure I'm paying the right price when I make the purchase.

    • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  11 месяцев назад

      Honestly brother, the price of a new one or the price from 2006 will have nothing to do with what that quad is worth now.. With a used quad, price is directly related to the kind of shape it's in.. For 3k, I'd want a machine that old to be in perfect running condition.. Not so much concerned about cosmetic stuff, but it shouldn't need anything before it's running well.. Let me know if you need any tips!

    • @musicauthority674

      @@DirtObseXXion It's supposed to be in good condition. but because of that price I held off on checking it out. but now I can go check it out and know what to expect, and what would be an appropriate amount to pay for it. thanks.

    • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  11 месяцев назад

      @@musicauthority674 If it's in great shape and obviously well maintained then 3k could be a very good price. Take a close look at the air filter, chain/sprockets, bearings (especially the carrier bearing). Look at the wiring to make sure nothing has been rigged weird or spliced. Set it upright and look at the frame, especially along the welds to check for cracks.. All those things can be indicators of problems..
      With wearable parts like the chain and sprockets, brakes and tires, bearings and ball joints.. It's up tp you what is acceptable. Just keep in mind, if needs quite a bit of little thing, they can add up quickly. I'd personally rather spend that money on something nicer as opposed to getting a quad up to par.. So the price is relative.. Great ridable shape, needs nothing, 3k is a good deal. Needs 1,000 worth of stuff right away, I'd probably keep looking.

      @@DirtObseXXion Thanks for the great advice, I'm going to take all the points you made into consideration and look it over thoroughly. and If it shows considerable wear or abuse then I will probably continue looking? but if it checks out within reason it might just be the type of quad I have been looking for? either way I think I'm going to take a little time and not make a snap decision. I just want to make sure they are being fair with me. and I'm being fair with them on the price, and then go from there. thanks again for all the sound advice I really appreciate it.

    Looks like alot of fun. But for me, this is still a machine that excels when the conditions are ideal, and nothing else. To me, this is a machine that you'd ride close to home, on trails you know are good, but if I had something like this, I believe I would be afraid to explore and go to new places. Especially in western Canada where I may plan a long weekend riding trip in a totally new area a few hundred kilometers from home, will it rain or snow on my trip? Who knows. I'd prefer a machine that will get me through anything, instead of a machine that hopes it has a groomed trail to go down.
    I'd love to see this machine get rebranded as a yfz700r. And turn the Raptor name into some kind of trail monster that is still very sport focused. Like a Polaris Scrambler 1000 competitor. Maybe even bring back an older name for the new machine, Warrior, or Big Bear.

      That's why I tried to emphasis the need to know where you're going to ride.. There's certainly scenarios that would be too much (which is true to a lesser extent with a 4x4 too).. Such a good question! Honestly the learning curve would be slight because you're already use to shifting and a solid rear axle, so the clutch is really the only difference... And the Raptor has the most forgiving clutch I've ever used... Added entertainment is OFF THE FRIGGEN CHARTS, in my humble opinion.. Similar weight, 10x better suspension, and more than 2x the power, but still docile enough at low RPMs to capable of very relaxed pace..

Now I get one and glad I did cause I see Suzuki dont have a 500 or 750 in their 2024 line up. Just the 400cc and 90cc. • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  11 месяцев назад

      Great question.. I honestly don't know. Kawasaki did the same thing with the Brute Force, so it's possible that Suzuki and Kawasaki are getting out of the large displacement ATV business... Suzuki had just revamped the KQ in 2019 and I don't think it had the impact they hoped for. I don't see them doing anything different.. Best we can hope for is a delayed release... Also true for the Honda Rincon 680 this year..

      Really will be sad if Kawasaki, Suzuki and Honda give up their machines. All that is left is Yamaha and CFMoto. Hate to see the atv industry down sizing. I love Yamaha and would have got a grizzly if one was available but Suzuki had a good deal plus I got a 2500lb winch on it for free. I love the machine and am sure parts will be around for a long while. What I didnt know at the time of purchase though is that aftermarket add ons are few and far between for the Ol King Quad. Guess If I would have known they were gonna stop production I may have waited for the grizzly to be available. Kinda sad that these companies dont see that if they just added winches, bumpers, LED lights, nicer tire, rim pkg and handguards that people would buy from them. Really hate to see this day come if thats what is happening to the 4 kings of the atv industry.Wish you and your famlies a happy Thanksgiving.

    • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  10 месяцев назад

      @@michaellivingston6707 Agreed, it's sad.. In my opinion they just haven't paid enough attention to the ATV market through marketing and keeping an eye on the competition. Kawasaki hasn't promoted the Brute Force in 10 years, Suzuki tried with the redesign in 2019 but they sold it as a totally new machine when in reality it just a much improved version of the old KQ. It's allowed CFMoto to move in on the market and undersell the old brands that seem stagnant.. I'd take a Kawi or KQ all day long over a Moto, but newer buyers see newer styling and features at the lower price point and much more available inventory.

    Thinking of getting my first ATV, enjoying your videos. I like the idea of a sport quad so I’m thinking either a raptor 700 or a can am renegade 650(comparable prices). My question is would a Raptor with a Rekluse auto clutch be a good compromise, I really hate shifting. Thanks!

    • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  10 месяцев назад

      Well, I wouldn't call a Renegade a sport quad, it's really a 4x4 atv with different plastics. Not that the Renegade isn't good, it's just very different.. With a Rekluse, you still have to shift, you just don't have to use the clutch and it's not going to stall.. The Raptor is incredibly forgiving with the stock clutch which makes it very easy to shift.. A lot of guys, myself included find that a more enjoyable way to ride even though there is a little learning curve.. All that said, there's really no alternative to a pure sport quad if you want to do all the fun stuff that you can do on a 400lbs machine with a solid axle.. 4x4s are fun too, just in a different way.. My advice would be: learn to get used to and good at using a clutch. It opens more doors for motorcycles and dual sports if you have any interest there eventually.. But yes a Rekluse will make it easier even though it's not quite comparable to a CVT

    • @DirtObseXXion

      I've never heard that before.. I'm assuming the a-arms are built from the same material, but they are shaped differently.. But no, I wouldn't call the front end week.. Full disclosure: In 4 years I broke 1 a-arm (high speed wreck, my fault) and 2 tie rods, one in the same wreck, and a second from a direct hit to a tree, also bent the steering stem in that one.. Now, for context, we rode these things very hard on private property... The Viking, who is riding in this video, races IXCR, and I used to try to push him for practice (He kept getting better, and now I don't stand a chance at keeping up with him).. But we'd do laps every weekend on an 8 mile xc track at the hardest pace we could... When you do that, you will break stuff sometimes.. But other than those things I mentioned, I've done one carrier bearing, a new chain a sprockets, a few sets of brake pads and 3 sets of handlebars (my Raptor has been upsidedown at least 10x).. The Raptor is the tuffest and most reliable machine I've ever owned, and parts are widely available and comparably inexpensive.. Still got the original rear axle on mine..

    Sorry, anyways got a Blaster, then a Warrior and had a lot of fun with them, almost got a Raptor in 02 then lots my mom and then a off duty cop in a full size Dodge hit me head on in my Ranger. Now I got a 16 year old loose M.O.M. hip.

      I have ATV cravings that put a junkie to shame!! Fairbanks had trails in the ditches along most of the major roads, it was great, in the winter just had to wait till a few sleds packed it down, and the mining roads and trails around Ester Dome, where I grew up, were and still are amazing.

    Has there been any updates to the motor in the last several/5/8 years or has it always been exactly the same? Just wondering if a 2017 would be basically the same thing

    I have yet to ride a raptor and wouldn’t rule out buying one but I believe there’s a market for the 400cc class that’s missing at the moment. Honda and suzuki need to re-release there quads. Sell them for about 7-8k and see how many you sell. I think it’d be a better market than 10-12k

    Yep after I pass you on my 85 ATC250R all you’re gonna think is- “Now that’s what I should have bought. Lighter Faster and way more fun.”

      Lol! Yeah, not gonna argue about the transcendent dominance of a machine that almost singlehandedly carried the sport for 20years and is still relevant 40 years later.. The 250R is a classic 👌

      @@DirtObseXXion You know your stuff. Yes you can spend between $16.000 to $27,000 for a TPC or BVD conversion and it still won’t handle and run like an 85/86 ATC250R. I recommend to ALL if you’re interested in 3 wheels buy the beat up 85/86 atc. And put your $5,000 to $7,000 to building that. It will run circles around any conversation. It won’t have the wrong center of gravity ( conversions define tippy) and it won’t look Goofy like all conversions do. And it will scare the hell out of other riders which is always Fun.
