One very subtle thing I love about Japanese culture is how incredibly quiet it is. No loud televisions in the background.... no obnoxious rap music blaring from car windows. I remember walking through a busy intersection in Tokyo about 5 years ago and marveling at how amazingly quiet everything was. Even in their subways and trains, the conversations are very quiet and respectful. Remarkably clean, too. No cigarette butts in the street. All in all, just a lovely, lovely place.
