    Happy Rocky Mountain High! Back in the proverbial but not actual saddle again. Picking up where you left off. Best of luck as the saga continues. Hike on! Tortoise

    here's hoping when things start 'clicking' it's not in your hips haha. wait, you're not nearing 60 like my old ass.
    i loved watching yours and Jens Mississippi paddle so much but, i'm definitely a mountain person. and you're seeing such beautiful views from the get-go. you'll get your legs back in no time. miss you Jen!

    I'm happy you did the RMNP loop. I can't believe so many CDT hikers skip this part.

      Glad I did it but it was actually one of the first redline bits where I could really see skipping it. With all the burn scar plus permit hassles there’s just a lot better trail on either side

      @@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes If you finish which I presume you will, you will be the first RUclipsr I can think of who I have seen complete the Red Line. And I have watched quite a few CDT hikers. Some do a pretty good job of staying on the Red Line, but they all seem to take a shortcut or skip a section at some point. Often for good reasons like fire closures, but still they miss sections.

    Blessed be those who don't care how bad it hurts. 'Cause they kinda like it. Amen.

    RUclips did not notify me of this video. So I went searching.

    we have the same rain jacket. in the same obnoxious colour! I love mine. I have completely given up on "breathable" rain gear because it just doesn't work! Kudos for you to getting back out there. The mental aspect of memories from last time would get me good! here's to a better time!

      I’m actually going to make another change. This one is a bit too thin for how I use it most of the time when it’s cold and windy and it traps in so much sweat I might as well have left it off. I really should have just paid the arctyryx tax I guess

      @@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes oh it sure is hot as hell! I struggled in the warmer weather. I just settled with being wet. Gotta spend big bucks :(

    I didn’t realize that you started before Labor Day until I noticed the date stamp on the opening map. I guess you mentioned something about adjusting your start date in your last video, but it didn’t click. Also noticed that you picked up the Episode Count from last October, which I like.
    Weather looks to get interesting starting Sunday.

      Yea. If things work out I’ll be doing Grays on Saturday. Really not feeling like risking lightning after that whole Cape G incident

    I'm sure you'll be back in top hiking form again soon. I don't blame you for not wanting to pay so much for a room, that's why I so often camp. Hotels/motels are so expensive these days. Good luck!

    The REAL wilderness would be Taters classroom - the hooligans in todays schools make backpacking the easier path. That is after diving school bus during the last 3yrs. Hope we can still get Taters Tuesday updates!!!

    Did count privy error as Navigation Mistake on my card.

    I'm surprised you didn't get the green apple color rain jacket. I guess you're feeling it after basically sitting on your butt for the past couple of months, LOL.

    • @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes
      @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes  Год назад +1

      The only green jacket I’ve found up to my standards the last few years has sadly been Arctyryx. And while I have a lot of faith that would be an awesome jacket the $400-600 price tag is just too much

    • @jgeisler
      @jgeisler Год назад

      Yeah that one is nice, but too pricey. However, I was referring to the Light Heart Gear rain jacket in the green.

    I really like Jen, but your commentary is so much better when she isn’t with you. When you are with her your commentary is non stop childish humor, mostly at her expense.

    • @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes
      @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes  Год назад +1

      I get a lot of enjoyment out of making her laugh. So yes, a lot more doing anything that tends to make her laugh whenever she’s around. Glad you like the solo commentary though :)
