I am just amazed to see how can she not react much on winning such tough matches. Like she's someone who doesn't even have mid match celebration moments like her other contemporaries like Sabalenka. It's endearing to see her calm demeanor on court. She's now a rising threat to other players on the women's tour.

This match is an example of what happens when 2 big tournaments are back to back and those that went deep in the first tournament do not have a chance to recuperate and adjust to the 2nd tournament. Arranging things that way makes it hard on the players (and may make them more injury prone too) and not good for fans who want to see everyone start on equal footing. Congrats, anyway, to Elena for overcoming this difficulty in her first match in Miami. Also, Kalinskaya deserves credit for working through whatever her problems were with her stomach. She never gave up and kept coming back.

I'm of the opinion when a player reaches a certain level of financial security they should trim back their play to about 8 to 10 events a year. Iga is certainly at that level. Some of the others who have been around a while but not necessarily had the same success should probably do the same. Off the top of my head, players like Petra Martic and Camila Giorgi.

Well tennis is after all a gentlemen’s and ladies game. Players play with grace. Not like some McEnroe cursing and swearing on the court because he lost a point. This is very demoralising towards your opponent who is enjoying the game but you meet a player cussing all the way. That’s how some players are…….making all circus act when they could have use their full ability to play tennis.
Rybakina will again set a standard of graceful tennis. You hear nothing but tennis balls being hit with a racquet and balls bouncing on and off the court with spectators wooooo and wow……😂😂😂

It's exactly what Elena Rybakina said: Consistancy, stability ... is what she should focus on. Allthough Anna Kalinskaya is a tough draw and a good player she may should win such matches "easier". I know - easier said than done, especially when there are really a lot of good players with positions in the rankings that makes no real sense around. But Elena Rybakina does have the game plan to win easier. Each lost set will count later on in the tournament. Anyhow - Anna Kalinskaya shows a way how to deal with "power tennis": High and long bouncing topspin (in a mix of other hitting balls). Reminds me a bit of Graf vs Sanchez-Viccario. Mostly Graf won but from time to time Sanchez-Viccario take one match (and even Slams) from her. Fighting players are always "annoying". Hopefully the ranking will be a bit cleaned up for Anna Kalinskaya. This was not a real first (or 2nd) round match. This should happen way later inside a tournament.
As so many said - congrats for both - Anna Kalinskaya lost against one of the best players (if not THE best) at the moment. But this knowledge does not help to improve Annas ranking situation. Next one for Rybakina: Paula Badosa - another player who should be ranked higher ... ... ...

Rybakina lost her rhythm in the second set after being up one set and 4-1 in the second losing 5 games in a row! Perhaps a good lesson. Good recovery in the third set.

when I look at players now, I don't care if they win, & suddenly lose.it's impossible if they don't see twitter, fb, ytube. stress is everywhere. so, to win as many matches as possible is very difficult. unlike 20- 40 years ago, main social media was just newspapers. players in the 80s, there was almost no pressure at all from the fans. they are quite focused on the game. very lucky if elena wins again😊😊

Rybakina either has something wrong with her or she just isn’t used to the court yet. Kalinskaya also played extremely well here.
Badosa might be easier than this considering she struggled to a lesser opponent today.

mamasita kalinskaya!! gets it done in the second set!!! jesus !! but rybakina is too hugely power!!! I knew rybakina would win due to the fact of her power and clean hitting. But Anna showed some class in that second set mainly because ryba was tired... and also gave her a silent chance. NO joke. But Anna is the original love of loves in terms of tennis lovers of this generation . She is beautiful before during and still after the invasion. All the best to ukraine.

But Kalinskaya played a competitive match. Women's tennis is so competitive. Elena won because this match came down to who made the better decision to win each point.
