I deal with bipolar disorder and I can relate to him. It’s nice to see a successful person with a disorder like mine instead of a violent person in a psych ward. It’s refreshing.
I love Deluca. I think the writing and acting is realistic compared to other shows/media - at least how I have experienced bipolar - and regardless of his characters relationships or general direction, the bipolar plot line isolated is important for representation. When I saw them introducing this into greys I felt so seen and represented fairly.
I agree with you - representation is so important and they have portrayed it accurately. I guess just in my experience it felt slightly rushed, but then again I wasn't considering things like screentime. I hope with this season coming they continue with this storyline and show the therapy and medication side of it, too. Often I've seen in shows that after diagnosis they just forget the storyline which sucks. I'm glad that you've felt seen and represented, too!
@@noahtheo3490 absolutely! I can totally see that it was a bit rushed tbh but I think it was good considering screen time etc like what you said. I’m also hoping they keep going with it rather than treating it like it can be resolved in half a season. Fingers crossed x
I totally agree, although i am interested, if there will be more ups and downs, in the meaning of getting everything in order, cause from my experience a lot of people struggle for years trusting therapists, getting the medication going, moving forward in life. its not just "oh now I got convinced onces to let me treat, i have now medication and back to being a succesfull doctor, yeah"
Now, imagine 3% off the world have this condition, and they have sisters and parents, is difficult for they, but, i have it, and i know now exausting is, and how de feel bad Sorry my english i am brazilian
I feel for Carina in the sense, she had to see her father like that, and also now her brother... but she was always alerted that when her brother could be at a age, he could develop it, and sadly it became true
i feel bad for her too. I also can see myself in her, cause by boyfriend is bipolar. but lets say it never helps, regardless if you are the person with this condition or someone who is in some connection with them, if you get the feeling that someone pitties you.
Thank you for posting this. I’m bipolar, and it really helps seeing things like this. It makes it easier to explain to people who don’t get what we go through before we get help.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO, this helps me so much bc im doing a psych paper on bipolar disorder (w his character for reference) and seeing this compilation helps even after i just spent so long rewatching the whole season 16 lmfao
Aw I'm so happy this video could be of help to you, and hey I'm a psych student, too!! Haha watching a whole season of Grey's sounds like a good way to spend your time anyways! One thing, for "rambling," the scene at the bar where he hits on Jo is a truer example (it just didn't fit as well editing-wise)!
I hate the way he was right about the human trafficing and then he really wanted to catch her bc he had a mental breakdown tying to prove that he was right and then he risked his life to catch the human trafficer and he died
I've heard of Grey's Anatomy, but wasn't interested enough to watch it. Knowing that there's a doctor suffering from BP, and as someone suffering from BP too, I can relate. A lot of the symptoms he has, I have too. And it was pretty hard watching that being portrayed on screen because of how real and accurate this is 😔Thank you for showing such an precise representation!
Eso no fue transtorno bipolar..me molesta que comparen el trastorno bipolar con algo que realmente rsta sucediendo que no pudo hacer nada para evitar la trata de personas en esa niña

Can you post the episode of the human trafficking please?
@@tammiepankhurst7600 Oops just seen this. I'd get copyrighted if I uploaded the full episode but I could make a wee edit of that storyline!
@@noahtheo3490 Yes please!
Can you do the parts where they talk about or show adoption?

Right!! It's so important to have representation like this
My sister is bipolar too. It's a brutal disorder and causes a lot of mayhem for everyone involved. It has really taken a big toll on me and my family.
@@faisalsalam4161takes an even bigger toll on the person with BPD
i was so relieved that he was actually right about the human trafficking
this didn’t age well
It was so obvious though
i hate that he was right ab the human trafficking
Me, too. Really reflects how differently people treat you based off of preconceptions around mental illness
What episode is?
What episode was that?
Episode 18 of season 16 if I remember right
@@noahtheo3490 Thanks!

Yes, that is one of the best representation and I have seen in the 35yrs of shows I watched Honestly, the actor was phenomenal!!!

I know how frustrating it can be when people don't understand, I'm glad this video could help you!!
When he started crying i lost it 😭😭😭so sad
It still breaks my heart to watch this. Him going through this and them not believing him and in the end it cost him his life.

ok this was rlly good
Ah thank you!!
I couldn't believe it. DeLuca was bipolar so the scene involving what he thought was child trafficking, shows it.
This was me all year … it’s sad
I dont think I've ever related to a Grey's character more than I've related to DeLuca.
I hate that they never had a episode where he told them all off about him being right about it
The trauma Andrew had I honestly felt bad for Carina
I can totally relate to this from somebody who suffers from bipolar disorder 😢
seeing him cry is so sad 😭
Great video
Thank you!
De Luca screaming about the patient was cringe and sad.
What season and episode is it where he suspects Aunt of Human trafficking
can you please tell me the episoade when he threw himself on fire and then the episoade where his hands are injured..?
Deluca was a Nice Guy to me

Gente, essa Carina está ferrada, é a esposa cheia de traumas por causa do pai, é o irmão bipolar, gente 😂😂😂😂😂
Miranda Bailey, Meredith Grey, Richard Webber Carina DeLuca... I'm very dissapointed with them.

Salt and the sea by The Lumineers 😊
what episode is that mask thing
Mask thing? Do you mean 1:16?
His sister ruined him
I Think They Messed Up His Character
Mmm I just kind of wish the storyline was taken a bit slower. I'm interested to see how they explore his character further this season coming
When you have this condicion like me, we fell that, we fell que lost who we was
No
Him begging Bailey to save her brought me back to my past begging someone to save me but nobody would listen
