This was literally the beginning of Gokus legend. He came back a totally different fighter from when he fought Vegeta. He became the real icon in this moment

Wasn't foreshadowing. Ultra instinct came as an idea for DB Super, not DBZ. DBZ was supposed to end after the Buu Arc. If the Battle of Gods movie didn't become a huge success, UI wouldn't have existed
Yes and no. DBZ was originally supposed to end after the namek saga but people wanted more. As a writer myself, I know writers constantly take older ideas and expand on them as they write more. But since our guy has passed we will never know if the two are related. But from a narrative lens, it definitely looks like foreshadowing.

Watching Namek saga for the first time is something else... they really showcased the novelty of each of Goku's power-ups perfectly, something thats a little lost on and even discarded, I'd say later on in the series. Like TOP, where apparently gods are fighting at tiers far beyond human comprehension--- and Krillin, Yamcha's chattering, Zeno's screeching in the back with that god-awful voice, and I'm wondering why the cartel's knocking on my door.
The equilibrium Goku had reached there and then was only achieved by Mystic/Ultimate Gohan when he presented himself to Buu. No MUI, no bs, no nothing!!
This scene in particular is what I caught flipping through channels in college over 20 years ago, and lead me to love Dragonball and anime in general 😎

Vegeta tips the audience that Goku is, in fact, moving. It's just so blistering fast that it's almost imperceptible. Grass at his feet is all matted down tho. CLASSIC
Vegita is really the prince, ginyu force was using scouters and yet didn't catch him, but vegita didn't even blink for a sec, he was reading goku's moments easily 😎

I remember when they first dubbed the later half of the the Namek/Frieza Saga and the Funimation dub first aired on Toonami. This was the first episode of it that aired. I was so hyped to finally see what happened after Goku arrived, but so thrown off by the VA changes. Little did I know, at the time, that it would end up being the mainstay English dub. Still love me some Ocean Dub though. As that was the dub that initially aired for DBZ. It would always get to the episode where Goku arrived to fight the Ginyu Force at the end of the episode, and would then start over by playing the first 3 movies. Followed by rerunning the show up to that same point. Good times.
They don’t do this anymore in Dragonball, small demonstration of power before the azz kicking. Now it’s let’s see if he could handle SSJ1, now SSJ2, then 3, Blue and UI.
