So what is the benefit of using the 90 degree hook if any, thanks?

It helps the hook ride hook point up, also when fishing in a lake or pond, when you strip the fly it add a different movement to the fly as compared to a traditional streamer hook.

What are your opinions on using a dubbing loop instead. That way the dubbing is spun and flares out more.
I don't own simi seal dubbing yet, so I'm just asking out of curiosity.

Dubbing loops work great on these! The only reason we don’t do it here is because we send this box out as a beginner tying box. If someone received this box and doesn’t have a dubbing loop tool, we don’t want to leave them guessing on how to do it. Definitely a dubbing loop works here though!
