Fishing Micro Jig Streamers
Court and I spent an afternoon fishing and talking jig streamers. This is a very effective way of streamer fishing. You can fish these on a tradition fly rod set up or on a euro nymphing rod. Both ways produce fish. If you're looking for another way to target fish this is a great place to start. The set up is simple and the results are aggressive takes and fun battles on a fly rod. Do yourself a favor and head over to our website where you can pick up some jig style streamers and get out and fish!

Learn to tie a Golden Stone Nymph
Liked the way you kept the body thin. Tx
Awesome
Very nice! As stated below our style of tying and explaining is great. I think i will go tie a few Yellow Sallies right now. THANKS !
As only having tied the Flying Ant before this, this one is infuriating.
Looks like a fairly easy straight forward pattern that should catch trout in a lot of different water.
Steve you do great work. I hope when I’m really truly ready to do my own flies these videos will really help me.
I think overall the small hoppers work almost all year especially if the bigger trout are feeding on top in certain areas of the country.
I love small hoppers
Thank you.
I just got my Cicada box, very cool. However I don't live anywhere near a Cicada hatch(Pacific NW) what can I tie with this kit that works up here?
The Cicada also works as just a general summer attractor fly, I'd suggest shaping the foam to more of a beetle or ant pattern. You can make all kinds of variations with the materials that come in the box
Well made video, thanks sharing with us.
It’s a Galloup Butt Monkey twin
Is Calf hair better than a poly wing post.
I personally like calf body hair. I think it looks better and I like the stiffness. Poly yarn works great too, really just personal preference
@@smittysflybox I find the synthetic easier to tie.
So what I like to do right after I tie the hackle to the post, is to dub on some sparkly dub for the head to give it some shimmer. Such a killer pattern year round. Thanks for posting!
Good
Liked jus 4 tha Black Keys
i wanna know what song this is!!
The Black Keys- Lonely Boy
The Black Keys....keep me waiting
Nice skills 😮
Appreciate it
It looks like size 4 hooks came with the box. Is it best to use a size 8 for this pattern? This is my first time attempting to a tie a fly
Send me an email, I’ll send you the size 8 hooks. The size 4 hooks are for the intermediate box, they would probably work for the Chernobyl. They have a short shank. Sorry for the mixup
Purple is the new purple 👍🏼
it sure is
My pack came with dirty hackle feathers. Some are pretty gunked up. Also the kit only gives enough marabou if you use each feather twice. I’m not able to tie the 25 flies according to the instructions. It greatly decreases the quality of the flies.
This box was shipped almost 6 years ago. Send me an email and I'll get you new materials to tie this.
What is that sling you have on?
It's a fishpond sling
I usually put the biot in my mouth for a minute or so... so it gets softer and really hard to break.
Great! Is this a baetis nymph? For blue wings hatch?
the olive Roughneck is a great little BWO nymph
Can I get your what's aap number, I need fly box, i am from India
Kinda like the Simple body compared to the original. may not have as much movement as schlappen but ive never worked with that kind of synthetic,
Beauty
Thank you!
Enjoyed that tie. Thank you.
Thank you!
We called this snelling and it distributes force over a greater area.
Thank you for this lesson from the Netherlands❤
Nice tutorial =) Don't you need to moisturise the strings before tightening? :)
I always moisten the line for all my other knots, for the nail knot I never do… probably should. Thanks for the comment.
I like this way better than I’ve been doing it.
Glad it helped
Thanks! Yes Squirrel works great, it was just a little tough for us to source in a large qty to supply our boxes
I bought some squirrel the other day to tie Slumpbusters. I barely got four flies out of a package. I got a source for whole skins zonked. I paid 7 dollars for that package, and a whole pelt is 20 bucks from J. Stockard since I live in CT.
Squirrel works great to. Keep em coming.
Great video man! Really nice. Immediate sub
Appreciate it!
I bought a kit that makes 25 Wooly Buggers from your company. How do you place the brass bead that came with the kit?
You can put a bead on your wooly bugger if you'd like. Simply slide the bead onto hook with the small hole first. Then just tie the fly like normal
Great! I love the caddis so this will be fun!
So many tie fly videos, I’m new to tying so appreciate the slower full description and explanation…. I’ve seen a few that also included a small wire open forward wrap over the dubbing, do you prefer to skip for any reason, weight or looks?
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Adding a rib is just personal preference. I usually don’t add a rib on this fly because it will add weight. You could use flashabou for rib and it’ll add some flash to the body.
mantap 👋👋👍👍🙏🙏
Nice!
On the frenchie fly does it have to be pink dubbing
Nope! Any color you want really.
Great catch
Where do you get the hair?
you can get it on our website, its listed under dyed deer hair natural smittysflybox.com/products/hareline-dyed-deer-body-hair
Good lookin fly.
Thank you
Greetings from the BIG SKY. I probably tied 100 caddis flies fishing the East Gallatin river.
100 is a good start! Thats awesome
Thank you!
Great tie!! Clear instructions, camera work too. Really liked the different golden stone colors.
Thank you very much!
Great video - still learning about tying flies, and this made my first batch of BWOs as easy as could've been. Now, to see if the trout agree...
I'm glad you liked it. Hopefully you can get into a good BWO hatch this spring
I tie a similar pattern with a purple cdc or purple thread tag butt, whichever I have handy. I fish Utah rivers year round. This pattern works best for me as a point fly in 3.5 to 4.3mm. Copper, rose pink, or gunmetal beads. I out fished my veteran euro buddy 18 to 3. I caught all but 2 on this pattern (the original recipe as shownin the video). For extra durability try xs copper or rust wire. Keep the body thin. You can still have a taper just don't bog it down with a dub body. Tight lines. Practice good stream etiquette and keep the rivers healthy.
Thanks for the comment. I like that idea of a copper ribbing. The fly does feel like it needs a little ribbing through the dubbing. Thanks
Really enjoyed this video lesson
Glad to hear it!
Thank you for the information!!! Loved that timing on the catch.
Glad it was helpful!
