Good day, I was a Grade 12 student in 1966 and was returning by bus from Stanger High School to my grandparents' home (where I lived) in Umhlali on 8 June 1966. The helicopter that had brought Senator Robert Kennedy (and his wife Ethel) to visit Chief Albert Luthuli had earlier landed on the school ground adjacent to the road. All of us who were high school students were thrilled that Senator Kennedy had seen it fit to visit Chief Albert Luthuli. This visit was shortly before Senator Robert Kennedy had begun his bid to become president of the U.S.A. A remarkable man, Chief Albert Luthuli. More of Chief Albert Luthuli's humility is in found in Ashwin Desai and Goolam Vahed's book titled, "Monty Naicker - Between Reason and Treason".

I read his book "Let my People Go." It was a book full of hope and ideas that shaped South Africa's constitution today. It is disheartening to see what the same South Africa that stood as bacon of hope for Africa's development and integration in the era of Luthuli had become today. It seems Luthuli and Mandela, the giants among men, had been shaped by a different philosophy elusive to the hateful generation of the present South African leaders. The latter encourage their people to disintegrate and destroy other African peoples and investments in their homelands; the homelands, though free from apartheid, is now a breeding ground for hate and xenophobia against other African nations.
I love Albert luthuli he was great man with legacy and patriotism with heart nelson Mandela was father of vision these two leaders fought for freedom struggle
Thambo did not get the recognition of Luthuli and Mandela yet he is the one that led ANC all the way to freedom. But Salute to the Prowess of Luthuli and Mandela nonetheless. Amandla!
False....the is no 2 man that changed SA history....the only people that changed SA history are the founders of ANC Pikley ka seme Langalibalele Dube Gumede These are the man that founded ANC ... without ANC there would be no Mandela or Luthuli in ANC hence no anti apartheid or injustice..
Speak for yourself. Don't be a spokes person for the whole country, especially with those false views. Do you have absolutely nothing to praise these men for? If so then you are not a true South African. You don't know where we come from.

I don't understand. He was Chief Albert Luthuli. Where are his descendants in South Africa. Where are the Luthuli chiefs?
@@npzwane9331 They made him choose his chieftaincy or the ANC, he chose the ANC which resulted in him losing his chieftaincy.
