    I really love the veins and scale texture in the wings!
    As I said in another video, I am a huge bug enthusiast and really love when bugs and insects are portrayed in a way that doesn't insist they're gross and creepy. Most people would consider butterflies as pretty enough to be the exception (though if you know how gross they can be...) but you get my point lol.
    Imo the way you capture the detail of the entire body and not just the pretty wings shows that you truly like butterflies and care about how they work, that you accept that they're more than just pretty shapes and colors that flutter through the air and need their big eyes and spindly legs to exist as a living creature. I know an artist can't always fit such details in every piece and agree that it's normal to not like bugs and insets as a whole, but the way you capture the details in an unbias way really makes me happy and makes me feel a little less crazy for loving creepy crawlies of all sorts!

    I love Seahorses & underwater corals & floaty long shapes. I just love Seahorses, they seem unreal they are so unusual. Would love you to do an underwater coral reef. I'd love to see how you would detail paint this. 💐

    It is called a Proboscis, the long "tongue" that curls up, that the butterfly uses to drink the nectar from the flower. This painting tutorial was so helpful. Your work is outstanding, you have amazing teaching skills that are enhanced by your sweet and lyrical voice.

    This was a wonderful tutorial! More butterflies please! I enjoy the details of a painting, too & also find it relaxing & fun. I'm currently working on the tiles of a blue jay tail & the techniques you demonstrated for the spots on the butterfly will be very helpful. Thank you for your videos!

    A beautiful painting. Love it and the quality of the video, and just how close you get so people can see the brush strokes. I would love to see more “little” things…. More butterflies would be great, a while ago you did a great little snail, so more like that please, also ladybirds, dragonflies, even some underwater creatures, eg. dolphins, jellyfish, and seahorses to list some. I would say paint anything that makes you happy, inspires you or challenges you, we will learn something. Thank you so much.

    The sippy straw mouth part is called the proboscis and the bottom segment of the leg is called the tarsus but mostly just the whole leg is referred to unless talking about the specific sensory organs on the tarsus.

    26:08 It's a proboscis. And the legs are just the legs (forelegs, midlegs and hindlegs) lol.
    Imo it looks just fine thickness-wise in both versions--Even if it isn't 100% perfect to a scientifically accurate to where it's indistinguishable from a photo (which you'd probably have to blow up to be like 5-10 times this size anyway), it will look correct to 99.99% of viewers as long as it isn't thicker than the femur segment (the thickest segment, the one closest to the base of the thorax) of the legs. Specifics can vary from species to species, but again, 99.99% of people won't know well enough to scrutinize and will just have a gut feeling towards a rule of thumb at best.

    As always - beautiful work! Mesmerizing to watch. Love your teaching style. A question if that's OK. I recently bought the Escoda Versatile travel set. And although I love how much water they hold - I am disappointed with the sharpness of the tip. Would love your thoughts on the Chronos vs the Versatile. And would love your thoughts on the Chronos vs a pure sable brush. Thank you :)

    • @AnnaBucciarelli
      @AnnaBucciarelli  2 года назад +2

      Thank you Monique! Happy to share my thoughts on these brushes. Chronos has one big advantage and it comes down to 10% real sable in the 90% synthetic brush. It seriously helps improve the water release (compared to pure synthetics) and overall smoothness including the tip. Ive worked with Versatil and tested it against real sable - I would say the tip is what you would expect from a high quality synthetic but it will never be as sharp as the real fur (perhaps at some point in the future but not at the moment). You may have seen the last few months I’ve worked with Chronos exclusively because I love them, they definitely do a better job than Versatil. But again, it’s 10% real fur that compensates for synthetic characteristics.

      @@AnnaBucciarelli Thank you so much!! I am very grateful. I have a few sable in my Wishlist on Jackson and never moved them to my cart due to price (and because they don't last as long). I think I will go ahead and order a Chronos as the price is awesome.
