Is the Kaito KA500 "Voyager" the ultimate "Emergency" radio?

The Kaito KA500 seems to make just about every list for top Emergency radios and so I decided to pick one up used off of eBay to see what the fuss was all about.. AND then I decided to pick up a second one up NEW to see if there was a difference!
With so many choices out there for Emergency Radios is the KA500 still a worthwhile option?
Since filming this last night, I'm no longer sure that the newer KA500 can run JUST off of the solar panel.
When comparing the flashlights, in person, the KA500 illuminated the room enough that I could cautiously make my way through the dark. When watching the video it doesn't look like it provided ANY light!

Does the plastic on this radio get sticky after awhile.

I have two of these, it's too early to tell on the new one but yes the old one, which I bought on eBay, was very sticky, I had good results cleaning it with rubbing alcohol.
