- Following my initial test ride with the Black Widow decat headers, I had to admit that the bike was just too darn loud! Although it did sound quite epic... I've tried one of those honeyconmb DB killers but that didn't make much of difference to be honest! Here I wanted to take you through the things I've done to try to arrive at a sound that isn't too loud but at the same time makes the bike sound like a 1000cc continent crushing sports tourer should sound!
This is Part 1 and Part 2 will be available just a few minutes after this video is first published.
Yes I like this sound.
Have the BW headers with the stock exhaust with DB killer .. it still screams and never get tired of that loud sound
I would def use both killers and get her mapped, preferably on a dyno and I think you will find the sound changes again. Also a bit more back pressure helps the tuner. And hunt less in my experience.
Cheers for your thoughts, learned from experience no doubt! The problem I have is that I don't like the sound of the bike with both DB killers fitted although I do see your point about back pressure.... it's always a balencing act isn't it... or at least it is with me!
What top box is that. Love this set up. Thxs
It is a "Givi WL901 Weightless Expandable Semi-Rigid Monokey Motorcycle Top Box - 34L". The only issues I have are 1) I have to accept that it's not designed to be waterproof and 2) it does not use the convetional Givi locking system... wierdly the top of the case is attached by a zip system and the zips are locked together with a three-digit combination lock on the case... not good if have to unlock the case in the dark!
Hi Ricky I have this setup on my 21 XR I also have a BT MOTO tune which eliminates the cold start. Worth doing in my opinion
Yes I'll be getting it done before the riding season starts 👍
